Audi etron only makes 26km on full charge and Audi says its GOOD
Audi etron is a lemon (makes embarrassing 26km per full battery charge (with even music turned off), which qualifies it as a "pretend hybrid"). And audi warranty is impossible to get to. Audi Parramatta is disguising to deal with, Audi Australia support is useless (waiting for a week for a promised email) and Audi social media team is non existent as not checking messages for weeks. I'm taking the issue to the NSW Fair Trading as this feels the only right avenue to deal with this by the looks of it. Show detailsStops while driving! Serious safety issues
2020 Audi Q7 50 TDI S Line. Absolutely loved my Audi Q7 after replacing our 5 year old BMW X5. I searched high and low for the best car to suit our family of 6 including two anchored car seats (which we placed in the third row) and two teenagers. Apart from a few glitches relating to the screen and reverse camera occasionally not working, it has been very practical and lovely to drive. This was until a couple of months ago when it completely shut down whilst driving. Yes, that’s right, no warning, no chance to pull over, no chance to avoid... Read more what could have been a potentially catastrophic accident. After occurring on multiple occasions, I was forced to stop driving the vehicle for my family’s safety. We were finally able to get it into Audi after a few weeks (after jumping up and down), no replacement Audi available (obviously high demand), however a hire car was eventually provided. After initial diagnostics & repairs failed, recommended battery change (not covered under warranty and after less than two years hmmm) and now have been advised that after diagnostics were sent to Germany the part required will now be another month away. Still no clear explanation as to why the software or problem would allow a complete shutdown whilst driving. As far as I’m concerned this should be a safety recall issue. I am not at all confident that Audi can guarantee my family’s safety in this vehicle and to be quite honest feel safer in the Hyundai Santafe loan car. Certainly not good enough when you have outlaid over $100k. At the end of the day I could not recommend this vehicle due to this serious safety issue. **** Also note, this vehicle does NOT have run flat tyres. Be prepared to be stranded if you get a flat tyre. Update 2023 now out of warranty and reversing cameras have gone from glitching to not working at all. No response from Audi Australia after multiple emails and many many non returned calls from service centre despite issue being raised during previous warranty works.Great car to drive but software glitches galore
I bought my 2021 210kw diesel S-line model brand new, after having the pre-update model for a few years. It's a big improvement on the older model in many ways - especially ride and handling, and it was already good. I tested several luxury SUVs before deciding to buy this car, as it was generally better in ride, handling, and towing specs.
I don't drive it off-road, but I do tow a caravan (and it's brilliant for that).
What lets it down though is the MMI and electronics. The display screens look great, and if it all worked properly it would b... Read moree awesome (not as good as Mercedes but still great). But no rotary dial so you have to press the touch-screen (often missing it as you're trying to keep your eyes on the road) - and so many software bugs! I set up my favourite destinations, and 2 weeks later they've all disappeared. My Home address - gone. My call history - gone. Then I get weird messages - such as the cruise control isn't available because I don't have a licence for it - then next time it's working fine. Or I'll get multiple messages saying various driver assistance aids are unavailable, such as lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring etc. 10 minutes later, it's working again. Then there's the buttons on the tailgate to close or lock it - sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I took photos of the screens and videos of these things because of course the dealer can't find any problems. A few weeks ago my dealer said that Audi is working on a software update which *may* fix the problems, but it probably won't arrive until next year sometime! Amazing to think that VW (who own Audi) can make such great software to trick the fuel consumption figures and scam their customers, but can't get a tailgate button working properly or have the computer store my home address for more than 2 weeks. And googling these issues show lots of people complaining about them going back to the Q8 release - maybe 2 years ago? Now these problems aren't major - just extremely annoying and really detract from the otherwise great driving experience. Like a constant itch you can't scratch. I believe this MMI is now standard across the Audi range. You have been warned!
Great Luxury SUV
In September 2019 I bought a brand new Q7 50TDI. It's now got almost 62k km been awesome. It's a pre-facelift car with the 2020 engine and 48v mild hybrid system. 0-100 6.2 sec that's impressive performance. Small issues here and there but nothing dramatic. It's quick, comfortable and on long drives, you don't feel tired or worn out. You sorta feel refreshed after getting out from 5 hours of highway driving. Good on fuel 6.7l/100km and handles pretty good. Very roomy fits like a glove into Sydney parking lots and is pretty enjoyable to drive. You get a 5-year unlimited km warranty and 5-year 75k km servicing. What's not to like? Show detailsGreat car but pricey to maintain
We bought our 2014 4.2 TDI V8 as a low Klm Demo from Audi Sydney, where both the pre and post sales service was excellent. 5 years and 142,000 Klms later (and with a little sadness) we said goodbye to the vehicle a few weeks ago (as a trade on a new Q5).Firstly the Good:
The engine & gearbox are superb - in normal traffic just lopes along and is never stressed, hardly breaking a sweat. When you need it you really appreciate the 250 Kw and 800 Nm torque - great for overtaking and towed our 3 ton van much (and I mean much) better than the 200 ... Read more
series LandCruiser we had before it. We averaged 10.5 L/100 mixed and around 8L/100 from Sydney to Coffs on regular trips great for the size / performance. The car was tight from day 1 to day 1832, not a squeak or rattle or unusual noise anywhere. It handled like a car - ours had air suspension and in dynamic mode it hunkered down and really gripped the road - OK not like a sports car but better than my SSV Commodore - and stopped on a dime. The seats, cabin and features were great (for it's day - ours for instance came with a TV) The not so good: Services were expensive 800-1200 every 15,000 k The P zero 295/35/21's were super grippy but lasted around 20,000 k per set (we found them for 320 a piece to replace otherwise retail for over 500 each!) Original pads and discs are super soft (hence the great stopping performance) expect $3000 from Audi to replace after 40-50,000 k. (We went aftermarket performance for $2,000 and they lasted 90,000) overall we really loved the car but we did pay for the privilege.Audi Q7 Lemon Car beware
Numerous problems since buying 2015 model. Audi Five Dock unable to fix problems despite car been back to them approx 20 times since we had it. Sunroof squeaking and finally replaced. Leaking coolant (valve replaced), squealing brakes (the worst problem) so loud it wakes neighbours and had rotors, pads, clips and all sorts done but as of today its the worst its every been. Also had leak from tail light (water entering ), boot motor replaced... currently still have black screen when reversing sometimes green tinted despite having had latest up... Read moredates done when back at Audi Five Dock. Also side mirror which dips when reverse is selected stays that way even after driving forward. Lately car does not recognise key (yes battery replaced twice), windows shoot back up when try to put down.. radio stays on when already exited car and locked vehicle.... paid $120k for this car!!! Dont waste your money .. yes car has good review from car website who drive it for 1 hour (car drives nice we admit) but you want all these problems? Lucky we still have warranty although Audi now given up and we have to get Office of Fair Trading involved. Keep you posted. Soon we will launch site/forum to help others www.webroughtalemon.com.au Audi Australia - terrible Audi Five Dock - terrible Audi Q7 - lemon If you buy a used one out of warranty - God Bless and Good Luck! One of the best cars I've owned
I bought a used 2015 Audi Q7 about 8 months ago, and love it.It has 4WD, 4 wheel steering and air suspension, and is one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven.
I drove it from Sydney to Brisbane, and in the wet on the highway at 110km/h it's incredibly stable. Also got 6.5l/100km which is outstanding for a 200kw 2.5 tonne diesel.
It's powerful and also super quiet which is a pleasant surprise, and the interior is a lovely place to be.
It tows my caravan with ease (that's the reason I bought it), and the virtual cockpit is an awesome ... Read morepiece of kit. It's a shame the trailer assistance software isn't available in Australia because of safety chain rules, but I hope Audi can sort something out for the new model. I also own a 2015 Mercedes E400 (supposedly the best sedan ever made at the time), and I actually enjoy driving the Q7 more (never thought I'd say that). The only issues I have with it are that there's not a lot of leg room in the 3rd row (the Isuzu M-UX is much better there), it has no spare wheel (not even a spacesaver), and the brakes tend to pulse a bit more than I like under heavy braking. The front seats could use a little more lateral support, but I believe that's available with a seat upgrade. None of these things affect the driveability or reliability. I've read lots of reviews where people have had lots of problems with their Q7 which is unfortunate, but I have to say I've had none so far with mine. I've owned 3 BMWs (all of which had problems such as the dash display failing, constant oil leaks in my 540i etc), three Mercedes Benz (one of which had minor problems, and my current E400 has a very intermittent problem where I suddenly lose power - they can't figure out why). This is my 3rd Audi, and I've only had problems with the voice recognition software in one of them, otherwise they've all been great. My point is that all models and manufacturers have problems from time to time. If you're unlucky enough to get a lemon then it's disastrous, but otherwise you should expect some problems with any car you buy. As for the diesel fuel issues, it's no different from Toyota Prados which are having major problems with their DRM system right now (reports of people breaking down out near Birdsville in their new Prado are concerning), along with some other manufacturers. Also note that Toyota, Hyundai and Honda have all received huge fines in recent years for not disclosing safety issues with some models (such as faulty brakes) etc. And if you really believe Q7s are unreliable, you should read the reviews about other 4WDs! As for the dealers, well that's a very big variable. Next year I'll be trading in my Q7 for the new model. I expect there will be some problems with it, but I'm sure I'll love driving it just the same. Love it :)
What an expensive heap !
Bought my Q7 in May 2016. Have had 15 Holden Caprice over 20 years, & never any major problem. Went Audi thinking to go European & more expensive you would be better off. What a mistake !!Needs an oil pump replaced, Solitare Aui Adelaide refusing, the park brake not working, the cruise control function not working, but according to Solitare Audi, I have to pay. According to the ACCC, I don't. It's meant to be "fit for purpose".
This bloody heap isn't fit for purpose & Audi Australia don't want to take ANY responsibility for it.

In my business, I deal with an enormous number of business people, & I now go out of my way not only to recommend they NEVER buy Audi, but NEVER buy a car from Solitare in Adelaide. Solitare also sell Volvo, Jaguar, VW, Maserati, Audi, etc. Don't buy a car from solitare & never buy an audi. They are a rip off.
What a great choice
Well i have just returned from 7000klm trip towing 3.2t caravan to Qld got ecm tune from veloce clayton great bloke excellent job could not believe how well car performed. Best fuel figures for 220k 10.3lt 100 worst 13.9lt 100 everything else performed terrific. What a great car Audi Q7. Show detailsNice car, but fuel consumption is not as marketed
Nice car, better feeling than BMW 2015 X5, but the fuel consumption is bit higher than website says. Interior feels good, better than my old Benz G class. What I don’t like is the option package are bit pricy, should be more affordable for real Audi drivers. Also the standard Audio system/speakers are not as good as my old TT 2006. Could be bigger internal space.Show details
Excellent..no other words match
A great family car that provide the upmost comfort and luxury. I love this car as it is quite, comfortable, spacious and dynamic. Never forget to add the dynamic suspension and ambient lighting option as it can make a huge difference in your experience and comfort. If you are in doubt please drive a car with and without dynamic suspension and feel the difference.Show details
Worst car I have ever owned
Purchased my Audi Q7 4M in December 2015 from Audi Ballarat (VIC). Cost was over $115,000. Since this time I have had over 50 faults with the vehicle ranging from intermittent electronic issues to major engine problems. There is only so much you can put up with before you finally snap. The first issue I had was a structural problem with the front passenger door. It would not shut correctly and would keep bouncing out without locking - A known issue that affected early models of this car. At the time I also noticed the roof lining was not instal... Read moreled correctly. It was like it had been removed for some reason. Questioned this with dealer but of course, no-one knew anything about why it would be like that. I suspected the car had been damaged and fixed without my knowledge. Had the paint thickness tested and found the front-left paint to be thinner than the rest of the car. Audi said it was within range and nothing to worry about! Sure. I still have had issues with the camera system not displaying anything when reversing, or the image stutters, and now the images have a green tinge to them. Steering column needed to have work done on it - needed rivets replaced - another known issue. The list goes on and on. I have provided some TPI's (Technical Product Information) for you to ask your local Audi Dealer about if you are concerned. The engine lost all of its coolant - known issue TPI 2047044. Needs a valve replaced and gaskets. Took nearly a week to fix. The most worrying issue is the engine knocking sound. If you have an early model Q7 4M with engine code of CRT 000001 to 073341 you will probably have this issue too. THE ENGINE NEEDS ALL 4 CAM SHAFTS REPLACED! Ask your dealer for a copy of TPI 2043172 for more info. I refused this repair as I have had enough. The most recent issue is the car just slams on the brakes for no reason. I can be following another vehicle that turns off to the left and the car thinks I'm going to hit it. Had it happen with a motorcyclist behind me and they nearly ran into me. Also, when crossing over a busy road, the car stops in the middle of the oncoming traffic and the cars following you who also are trying to cross almost run into your rear. So dangerous and this car should have been tested before going out to market. Someone's family will be killed by this cars bad design. Audi offered to disable the feature until it can be fixed! Has anyone else wondered why the 2016 model of this car wasn't released in some larger countries? I guess Australia was chosen as a "Test" to fix the issues before hitting the big markets. I am demanding my money back. I purchased this car in good faith and expected a top quality vehicle but it is a piece of junk. Audi have refused any replacement or refund even though the Australian Consumer Law says I am fully entitled to it. They think I will just go away but NOT GOING TO HAPPEN AUDI! Oh, and guess what Audi offered me as compensation..... 2 years extended warranty and 2 free services! So, after them ignoring letters from my Lawyer, its off to court we go. My final warning to you all - NEVER BUY AN AUDI. Please, I thought if you spend more on a car it will be better quality and better customer service. NOT TRUE. I could have brought 2 x Mazda CX-9's and kept one as spare! Thanks for listening.Audi Q7 4M with V6 TDI Engine removed from sale in Australia since early October 2018. I WONDER WHY? This is a great family car, i have a mustang and my wife uses the Q7, or when we are together we use this. As a family car is has plenty of room, very economical and safe. It's very ease to drive, when we first got it, i likened it to driving a cloud.Show details

Audi Q7 Rubbish
I am in the chauffeured vehicle industry & over a period of 20 years have had 11 Statesman Caprice & 2 LTD's. Two years ago went to a new Audi Q7 tdi. MISTAKE. I never had any problems or major repair bills with my 11 Caprice or LTD's.The Audi has done 60,000 k/ms & is falling apart & costing a mint.

: I'm happy to report that many of the MMI glitches appear to have gone, presumably through software updates. However the MMI still won't retain my home address for more than a couple of weeks; and the tailgate occasionally refuses to close if the car is locked (it works fine with the car unlocked). However neither are a big issue, now that I've figured it out. This car is great to drive, very comfortable and quiet (once I took off the low profile 21" tyres and put some 19s on). It tows my 3.5 ton caravan with ease. Fuel economy is exceptional for such a big car, even when towing - although I don't do much city driving. I must admit that I don't like using touchscreens which so many cars are going to including this one. They're difficult to use when driving (not to mention distracting), and I much prefer the rotary dial of the previous model. MB have both options available, which is far superior. I just hope the next model goes back to that (or the hybrid variety of the MB), but Audi/VW seem very slow to react to issues reported by owners...
