Avanti Go Cup Double Wall Insulated Questions & Answers
Since pulling the lid apart to clean, it now leaks. I took both seals off to clean and have put them both back on. Tried various ways. Have 2 of these cups and was very happy until they now leak. When the lid is closed they are all sealed.
Hmmm. I have only ever taken off the sealing ring on the spring loaded part and put it back, not the seal inside the screw on lid. Perhaps the seals got stretched when they were cleaned and do not seat down evenly any more. I clean mine out with gloves on and bleach on a sponge of kitchen paper (aka domestos or white king) which removes the coffee oil stain quite quickly & then I rinse it thoroughly. Try reseating the sealing ring under the lid in a different position and see if that helps.
Just found a possible solution... the inner ring in the lid had twisted slightly and flipped up on one edge - hard to see without a good light, but sure enough, its enough to make it leak. With a blunt end of a knife, gently push down the inner lid ring and make sure it is sitting flat all the way around with no twists or buckles.
I’ve tried this. Still leaks
Have 2 brand new cups.....the lids stink, and the coffee tastes bad, despite warm soapy water washes. Has anyone had and success getting rid of the smell?
I dont have any issues with our cups regarding smell, but then we only use black tea or black coffee in our cups. I could understand that some residuals might come from milk or milk substitutes. To clean them you do have to disassemble the lids as per the manufacturers instructions and clean them thoroughly. Coffee has oils and tea has tannins that can leave films, and a lot of the rubber/silicon seals do discolour from the oils in foods. Ordinary dishwashing liquid will rarely lift those deposits. One way would be to use a dilute oxidant like liquid domestos, perhaps with a toothbrush or small bottle brush to lift any stains, and it certainly will kill any nasties hiding in the parts of the lid and it should lift any tannin or coffee film off the walls of the cup too. The silicon sealing ring (the inside one) can and should be flipped off for cleaning too, as there may be residuals hiding underneath it. The other cleaning solution option might be Miltons. {PS and store it away when not used without the lid on and the sealing clip open so its fully aired!}
If you have not dismantled the lid you need to do so after every use, in order to clean it. I found tutorials on YouTube as to how to dismantle and reassemble.
Look up online how to get rid of the smell and staining on pressure cooker seals - they are made from the same type of material and also absorb oils from the hot vaporised contents. And undiluted domestos/white king will get rid of all of the dark coffee oil stains, but you may still need the other treatment for the (once) white rubberised sealing rings. good luck
Hi there, I've put the lid together wrong and now can't get the lid apart for cleaning. The catch is on facing the wrong way. Any ideas how I can get it apart ?
There are some tutorials on YouTube demonstrating how to pull it apart and put it back together. They may help? Good luck!
Thanks Ashleigh. I've had a look at tutorials but because the catch is on the wrong way it doesn't want to come apart.
Can the catch still pivot? Does the bottom sealing plate still more up and down? I put the catch on backwards once but it came back out easy enough with the bottom sealing plate pushed up as far as possible.
Thanks Nick. I took it to work today and someone fixed it for me so all good now
Wanting to give the lid a good clean I took the seal ring off to wash in soapy water. Only prob is now it won’t go back on ….. does the curved surface of the ring face upwards when it is correctly put on? Help please
Yes. The white seal should ‘hug’ the black plastic disk.
Thanks but it keeps slipping off as I stretch it around
Google Avanti Homewares Go Cup and you should find YouTube videos showing you how to disassemble and assemble the lid. Good luck.
Buy a new one on amazon. Swap the lid and send it back saying the lid is faulty and get a refund.
Why does the lid leak, when I lift the cup to drink, no matter how tight I close it?
I tried with a new cup, same problem. Frustrating especially at that price. I through mine out!
How do you clean the lid properly? Water/coffee etc gets trapped inside the lid. Is there a way to separate top of lid from the bottom of the lid?
Yes the lid does fill up with coffee every time you use it. Sit the lid up the right way on a firm surface, open the catch that locks the seal. With one hand depress the whole lid downwards then with your other hand pull the open catch backwards. The whole damn thing will fly apart, allowing you to wash the stale coffee out. My advice is to put it back together after you clean it.....then put it in the cupboard and don't use it....unless you have to! A very tricky bit of gear.
LOL thank you for that answer. The company will hopefully come up with a better cleaning friendly design in the future.
Brought an 410 AVANTI GO CUP 410ML from Harris scarfe last week the flip part on the lid broke not a very good mug is there any chance of a replacement lid
my Avanti Gocup leaks when I put hot drinks in it. Cold drinks no problem
can i heat the contents of this mug in a microwave
Ho, can ypu please tell me the base diameter of the 473ml cup as I have smallish cup holders and would like to make sure it will fit. Thank you. Kind Regards, Tash
I Cannot get the lid off. I have arthritis in my hands
Hi Annette. Because of the taste issue I experienced, I only used it for a week or so, but yes, being completely leak-proof needed a tight sealing and the twisting and undoing the lid required quite a bit of force!
Thank you I did try and finally got the lid off
One reviewer says it makes the coffee taste bad - is this true?? Has anyone else noticed this? A fairly important point ..
I'm extremely happy with my cup. In fact my husband has two because he likes them so much. I haven't noticed a difference in the tast
I bought mine in Australia on store, and I have been using it 3 days by now. I am tasting metal flavor on my coffee and also getting a teeth sensation like when you accidentally bite an aluminium foil =( wish I could have done a search on here before buying it but I am hopping to get used to it as it keeps my coffee really hot
