Old-fashioned service – I visited Bad Backs Crows Nest store, amongst other a number of other Sydney-based stores, looking to purchase an office chair in April 2021. The salesman was extremely helpful and directed me towards a suitable chair that I hadn't considered trying but knew was perfect once I sat in it. The purchase and delivery went very smoothly. In March 2023 I had an issue with the chair and contacted the store regarding my concern. I spoke with Mike, who couldn't have been more helpful. A replacement part for the chair was ordered and since I was unable to visit the store, he liaised with the manufacturer to have it repaired in my home, all under warranty and for no additional charge. Old-fashioned service at its best!

They deleted my review on Google maps – I posted the following review of the Melbourne store on Google maps, but it was somehow deleted. 1 star I went into the store to test some chairs and found one that was very comfortable, which I then ordered online. When I received it, the lowest tension was extremely high, so that I have to use all my might to tilt backwards, and then get sprung back up when I relax. It was not like this in the store. I called and asked if there was anything I could do and was told that they could only help if I came into the store (I have no car and it's very far) but that the only thing that can really be done is to reduce the tension knob to the lowest setting, which it is on. They mentioned that it might be because I am too light, though I am average for a woman and the product lists a maximum weight but no minimum weight. Additionally, I submitted a review of the chair on the Bad Backs website, but it hasn't been published. I now have a $750 chair with a 5kg dumbbell attached to the back so that I can lean backwards with relative ease... for the price of the products they are selling this is pretty poor service.

Hi Anne, Thank you for your review and so sorry that you have found an issue with your chair. We have checked back through our records to see if we can find a sale of a chair for around $750 to Anne but have not been successful to date. Maybe it was purchased under a business / company name? If you can assist us in identifying the chair with some sales order / invoice information (or a photo of the chair) that would be great. Maybe a quick video or photo of the adjustment knobs you are adjusting would also be helpful. If you could send these through to sales@badbacks.com.au we will get back to you asap.

Absurd service, happy to take my money but delivery of goods is another question!! – I ordered a chair from these borderline criminals approx 6 weeks ago and still have yet to receive it. Customer service is non existent, promises made to call back never met. So disappointed as was looking forward to my Herman Miller. I purchased the chair on sale and I believe they are holding out honouring that price in the hopes that I cancel my order

Hi Brett, Thank you for your review and sorry that at the time you were not comfortable with our service. During this period, like most businesses we were deeply impacted supply chain issues from overseas suppliers. Our downstream suppliers were trying desperately to book containers whIch were then cancelled at the eleventh hour, this then required re-booking which in turn extendeded expected lead times into Australia. We were receiving ‘expected arrival’ information based on these bookings, which in turn was our indicator of expected delivery times that we were in turn able to share with our customer’s. In many cases we experienced expected lead times for incoming overseas orders go from a normal 12 to 14 week cycle to up to 32 weeks. Unfortunately your order was directly impacted by these events for which we do sincerely apologise. The market is still being impacted by some of these supply chain issues but we have seen a significant improvement in the first half of this year. At around the same time as this review was written we were able to offer you an alternative option to your original order which in hindsite was a ‘better fit’ for you. It should also be noted that the alternative option was provided at the same relative special pricing levels as the original order. We do not and have never held off on the supply of pre-committed orders in favour of selling at a better margin to someone else. There is no commercial advantage in doing this and hence we have always processed orders on a first in – first out basis. Again please accept our deepest apologies for the delay in supply, we do trust that this information provides some context relating to this review
