Bank of Queensland Platinum Visa

A pretty card lost in time – BOQ's back-end systems are stuck in the 2010's. New customers must visit a branch to verify ID to activate the card. Can't set a card PIN in the app. Can't use the card in mobile wallet apps until 3 days after activation. Can't see a card transaction in the app until the bank has cleared it - 48-72 hrs after the transaction was made. App doesn't allow PIN or fingerprint login, and doesn't remember your user ID number. On a positive note, the card itself is pretty. I'll be cancelling once I get my bonus points.
Bonus points taking forever (more than 3 months) – Rewards program not that attractive, bonus points taking more than 3 months to be credited, rang couple times and even escalated to complaint department, advise was given to wait longer with no time frame given. Also be aware that BOQ will trick you into spending criteria not met, so be prepared to open up your statement and go through spending line by line.
BOQ is worst bank has worst service and no integrity. The 1.2/5 star rating by 69 people on this site is a true reflection of the bank

Not bad but points aren't great – Get this card free with my home loan. Did a balance transfer when I got it and no issues. The card used to be better points wise but over time its become that you need to spend more to get enough points to redeem for things. Also over time they have made more things excluded from being rewarded points, ie rates, ATO payments, post office etc. Redemption of points is easy however do need to spend a lot on the card to get rewarded

Great card but rules have changed over time – My wife and I have used these cards regularly in Australia and overseas. The best thing about them is the monitoring Citibank (which issues the BOQ card) does on purchases. On several occasions we have been called by Citibank, while still at the counter, to confirm that we are making an unusual or large purchase. And they have stopped illicit overseas charges on several occasions too. We get 2 points for every dollar and can convert these to cash off our credit card quite easily. Interest rates don't affect us as we pay our card off monthly, although in the current economic clime I think ALL credit card rates are obscenely high and should be regulated back to a reasonable premium over standard lending rates. My biggest disappointment is that when we originally took out these cards I was promised that they would always be fee free, but now, of course, in the mists of time and with new management, that promise has, conveniently, long been forgotten.
