Bank of Us

Have been with Bank of Us for my whole life...since they were Bass and Equitable. Have always had AMAZING customer service and been very happy with them. Just checked my statement (which I RARELY do). Have been slogged $15 for withdrawing money at a Post Office while in rural Qld WHERE THERE ARE NO ATMS OR OTHER AVENUES FOR WITHDRAWING MONEY (No shops that allow withdrawals of over $20). With the current cost of living NO ONE can afford to be slogged that much for accessing their OWN money where there are NO Bank of Us branches. I then did a Google search on accessing money out of state with Bank of Us and found they add enormous fees onto doing this). If you're travelling out of Tassie BE WARNED. Get an account with a nationwide bank and use that out of the State...or risk losing massive amounts of your money in bank fees!

Bank of Us - no long is Us about the customer but the Us is about the business – I have been a very long-time customer from way back in the early days of their original beginnings. Many years back their service in branches was excellent, very customer focussed and knowledgeable staff. Yet slowly this has been downgraded, when online services came in they had great quick responsive phone service that was open till mid-evening for those that were home later than normal banking hours. Then they changed to become Bank of Us and service went even further down to be no better than any of the big four. There is no after-banking-hours phone support. The wait time when one does get through has been up to 30 mins and some staff seem poorly trained and do not know their products. Staff in branches seem to be constantly changing and some have a lack of knowledge. Staff try to help by contacting head office and they can't even get a response or answer from them at times. Like many organisations when Covid hit the Bank of Us used it as an excuse to cut operating hours and on some occasions operating days. Now it is just like the big four banks with the same hours. When the business was the B&E Buiding Society customer support and service were paramount but these days the reasons one left the big four to move over to our local Tasmania organisation have long gone and with the Bank of Us the Us is no longer the customer but more about the business itself.

dishonest – stated they would refund a few fees during sign up for loan then decided not to do it after signing up. originally paid 0% offset interest, when asked they refunded 50% further emails/ contact was ignored. Absolute crooks.
Amazing customer service – I have been a customer for over 5 years now and have had many banking products and services over that time. Every single time I speak with BoU, they are just fantastic and easy to deal with. The staff are friendly and couldn’t ask for better customer service.

Changed their name to a bank and have behaved worse than a bank – Act as your friend, sign you up, then hit you with ridiculous charges. You are then met with an arrogant and conceited bunch of staff whose only interest is how to make more money out of you. Raised their mortgage rates recently, despite no other financial institution doing so and gave no legitimate reason as to why this happened-apart from, obviously, wanting to make more profit out of struggling Tasmanians.
