Queensland Country Bank is highly regarded for its "old-school" approach to banking, prioritising personalised, face-to-face service and maintaining a strong physical presence in regional areas. The vast majority of feedback is overwhelmingly positive, with many members remaining loyal for decades due to the bank's community focus and approachable staff. While digital tools and lending products are generally praised, a small number of users have reported significant frustrations regarding rigid fraud prevention measures and complex deceased estate processes.

Verdict
Queensland Country Bank is an excellent choice for consumers seeking a community-oriented banking experience with superior face-to-face support and effective budgeting tools. While its security and estate policies can occasionally feel overly restrictive for some, its reputation for reliability and competitive regional service makes it a strong alternative to major national institutions.
Travelling around NSW and QLD went into the branch in Stanthorpe to change some money into $1 coins and told that it was not possible unless we had an account with you. How ridiculous and petty that you cannot go and change coins in. Bank. Show details

had one recently and the lady helped me to the best of her knowledge, she even drew a little diagram on a blank piece of paper and described it more accurately.

It was my first time going in, my father had pre-booked my appointment at the Aitkenvale Branch because I’ve been so busy I had no time to do myself, anyways after coming in, I had this lovely lady who served me and was honestly amazing, she listened and answered all my questions. I have only ever been with one bank so to come here and receive the service I got that day, I am very pleased and happy to be apart of Queensland Country Bank now Show details · 1

In-depth reviews
In general, I am happy with QCB, its interest rates for seniors is good and I have generally found the staff in branches and over the phone to be friendly and willing to help. I had a large transaction out of an account for a subscription I had not signed up for as the vendor had it in the fine print that my single payment for a one off… Read more
transaction "may" be linked to a subscription - which apparently it was (without my consent). No message about the upcoming payment is sent and boom - the money is gone. Spoke to Queensland Country Bank and we cancelled the card, but they have said that Visa may let the vendor know what the new number is. I provided them with anecdotal evidence of this site's behaviour and the multiple platforms they use for billing. They have come back and said it reall doesn't advise I start a dispute for the $350 charge and if I do, it will cost me $35 per transaction - and here's the kicker - they still can't guarantee me I won't get charged again! As I have provided them with everything they need - business names, websites and their billing platforms, I have told them if I get billed again I will expect the bank to cover the costs. THis is a great bank if nothing goes wrong, just be aware they are a lightweight when it comes to fighting for their clients.
Been with QCB for 36 odd years. Opened an account for my mother as an EPOA. Mum passed. Tried to open an Estate account as an Executor, to accumulate mums estate, pay bills, finalise tax returns & disperse balance, with Executors managing, & controling the account as per our authority, was refused. Told we couldn't touch the funds to pay bills or… Read more
even adjust the amounts to be dispersed to beneficiaries based on other asset distribution, bank had to disperse the account funds to beneficiaries equally regardless of other asset dispersal & we couldn't pay back Executors that had had to cover mums bills because the bank refused to pay them. Bank has made a mess of mums estate & is now forcing Executors to incur more costs, by getting legal representation to do the very thing that an Executor is supposed to be able to do, depleting mums account balance, in doing so. Australian Law dictates that Executors manage & control the assets but the QCB deceased estate team takes that control & dictates to the executors who gets what. Totally disgusted. QCB has taken control, sprouting that they have a duty of care to the beneficiaries. QCB should only have a duty of care to the executors, who by law have power over the asset, & the whole estate. If what QCB are spewing was true, an indemnity form would not have to be signed by the Executors to authorise QCB to disperse said funds to the beneficiaries & give immunity for any & all legal ramifications by them doing so. If the beneficiaries want to contest what the Executors disperse, there are legal steps they can take. It is not the banks job to dictate, hinder or prejudice the estate nor the Executors authority. Belinda put her hand up into my face & told me to stop talking. Unacceptable. QCB felt it was acceptable to have our meeting after they rejected our request to open an account, in the public foyer of the bank that was full of people in line at the bank, & also the coffee shop that is part of the bank section & it too was full of customers. Our personal, private & confidential information was aired for all to see & hear. Disgraceful. Belinda openly & loudly for all to hear, insinuated we were thieves that could cut a beneficiary out of the Will. That is not Belindas business, even if it were true. I will be looking at moving my money out of QCB. The only reason we are dealing with them re mums account is because the executors, were also her EPOA and they opened mums account, because I banked with them. Regret that decision. QCB is a no go zone as far as we are concerned.
A year ago, we were introduced to Kara, who helped us navigate the path to buying our first home. We are incredibly grateful for her guidance. Before meeting Kara, we were living paycheck to paycheck, constantly stressed about unexpected bills. We couldn’t afford car insurance or larger bills, and buying a house seemed impossible. She helped us… Read more · 1
gain control of our bills using smart budget, and built our savings from scratch. We went from barely scraping by to having money in our accounts, including an emergency fund, something we had never achieved before. She also guided us through reducing our debts and was always patient and knowledgeable, answering every question we had.
Kara’s support extended beyond financial planning. When it came time to house hunt, she accompanied us through the entire loan process. She handled paperwork, answered our questions patiently and clearly, and even showed us how our finances would change with different house prices. She also managed the insurance side, ensuring our protection and keeping us informed every step of the way.
What truly sets Kara apart is her personal touch. She never made us feel like just another client; she treated us like family. Her support, knowledge, and genuine care have completely transformed our financial lives and our future.
If you’re seeking someone who genuinely cares and will support you from budgeting basics to the keys of your first home, Kara is the person for you. We highly recommend her.

QCB. I've had previous experience with this bank when they were the Isa Mine Employees Credit Union, and they still offer the same unique and personalised service - the reason for my returning to them.
They all seem to be so helpful, well the ones I have delt with over the years. I've banked with QCB for 40yrs and am still with you, that says something doesn't it. Show details · 1

Have totally blocked me doing what I want to do with my own money. Only joined in June but withdrawing my money now. Treating me like a 2 year old (I'm 72) and not listening to anything I have to say. Final insult was sending me a 'cease and desist letter' from their 'fraud department' like I was a criminal.
29 years as a customer, hundreds of thousands of dollars equity in my home, high income earner and they declined a tiny renovation loan which would be short term as I am selling my home. No risk for the bank. Disappointing ageism at work. Show details

Old school face to face banking. We bank in Smithfield Queensland. Wonderful customer service, excellent mortgage rate. We have had no issues with this bank, only positive experiences. It is wonderful in this day and age to have a bank that values customer service, it is such a rare thing. Show reply
We just moved from down south to Cairns and needed a number of services at the Cairns City Branch. Having always been very happy with the service from QCB, we were hoping we would experience the same in Cairns. The staff were simply amazing, friendly, efficient and professional - we cannot speak highly enough of the service from them. Ladies - we look forward to our next 'banking' expedition! Try this bank. It is old school, in all the best ways. They value customers in a way that other banks have just forgotten about. They deserve the communities support. Highly recommended. Show reply
This bank, the Queensland Country Bank is so much better and so different to the other banks. I was originally an accountant with the old CBA now Westpac and worked in a time when most banks gave customer service. I supported the Bank of Queensland when they started and steadily watched them turn into just 'another one of the big banks'. Show reply
Recently refinanced our home loan with Brad at Earlville. We have been members of Queensland Country bank since ECU days. Customer service is absolutely spectacular. I would never bank anywhere else. From first email to funded was 14 days - and would have been quicker, had we not delayed the valuation by a week due to waiting on trades to finish some work. A truly members first bank, and customer service that is second to none. Show reply

"the survey" (which preceded this review)about my personal experience with Q.C.Bank. However, I can honestly say I have "NOT" been offered any reward for submitting this review. I hope my response suitably answers that question.
I have banked with Queensland Country Bank (previously Queensland Country Credit Union) for many years. I believe the service is more personal and efficient, than many of the other major banks. The staff seem to genuinely care about the clients. They are approachable, helpful, and actually welcome you into the branches. I feel many other banks would prefer you not to bank in person, and do everything on line. Show details · 1
