Bankwest Zero Platinum MasterCard

Bankwest rejected my application immediately despite a good financial situation. When I asked why, they wouldn't provide any information. Do not apply through Bankwest as a rejected application will look bad on your credit profile!
I have been banking with bankwest my whole lifetime (60 yr ) and have had a zero mastercard for over 8 yrs, i was scammed starting 26th dec, and several other times, repeatley asked Bee ( and other " support staff")for a new card , and asked for help disputing transaction, just told block card i got frustrated and canceled card(should of … Read more
REPORTED IT STOLEN OR LOST , trying to get a new one is IMPOSSIBLE , they dont care and wont help, shocking waste of time trying to deal with this once perfect bank
WARNING - They removed the complementary insurance. Have used this card for nine years for all travel related costs because of the insurance - now I find there isn't any cover. Just cost us $6,000. I'm sure we got an email saying we've updated the terms of your card Show details

Good value card and easy application process – I liked the offer 14.99%, no annual fee and 4 month pay later plans (their verson of BNPL but longer) so I applied online and had to email two recent payslips through. This was on Friday, Saturday morning I got an SMS and email saying my card had been ordered. I didn't find the application too intrusive. They are a little conservative on the… Read more · 1
credit limit compared to last time I got a new card but responsible lending laws have changed since then and it's still way more than I'll ever use.
The digital card had appeared in the app by the time I woke up Monday morning so I activated. Although the card was visable in the app and online banking the account wasn't. I also opened a transaction account which was visable so I messaged them in the app and got a response in minutes all fixed. I also had another question on a different day - same quick response, so much better to message than having to call.
Payments from transaction account to credit card processes instantly which is nicer than my old card which took a day or so.
HORROBLE BANKWEST CREDIT CARD COMPROMISED, EIGHT TIMES IN 15 YEARS. BANK REFUSED TO REFUND THE MONEY – I have been a credit card customer for this Greedy bank for 15 years. In 15 years my card was compromised 8 times and their Cyber security was very poor. I feed back them to look after security but they were hopeless people. This time on 15 June my card was compromised again for $7025.26. I lodged the dispute with them. This time they refused it… Read more
as the amount was high. Then I lodged the complaint with the bank and Castle Hill Police Station NSW. First Officer of the Bank said We don"t know where we sent the message or on which phone number. After that officer SYED was removed from my case and Lynette was appointed and she changed the word that two OTP messages were sent to you. I don't know why they sent the OTP messages for Credit card payment. I said I didn't received any messages. She said they can't do anything. Go and lodge the complaint with Ombudsement. which has been lodged but I dont know what's going to happen.
I request to all public not to use this card because it looks very attractive but their cyber security is very poor and the bank is not honest because for this type of fraud bank is insured to refund the money back. That's why they refund my money in the past but at that time amount was small. I am going to cancel all my cards with Bankwest with immediate affect and request to all other customers not to apply this card and if you already have please cancel it. This card looks very attractive like no Annual fee, Overseas travel insurance but in the long run you will be ripped off. I had the limit of $45000. I am lucky I was only compromised with $7000. Bank Officer also sent police to my home to prove that I am depression patient or to put pressure on me. My seven generation will never apply to this card. I even don't have job to pay this $7025.26. After having Insurance they are not paying me back. Such a greedy and hopeless bank. They making Billions of dollar profit every year by making us fool.
The best credit card out there for non-AUD spending, everyone should have one – This card is extraordinarily good value for specific types of spending and average for everything else. VERY GOOD - This card is ideal for making any transaction at all in non-AUD currencies. I don't think any other card can beat this one for overseas spending - there are no foreign transaction fees (obviously) - there are no foreign merchant… Read more
fees. This one will catch a lot of people out because even if you're charged in AUD, if the merchant is not located in Australia, other banks will still charge you a foreign transaction fee. Not this card though. - The exchange rate is insanely good. I've literally calculated the conversions, and can't understand how they're giving such a good exchange rate, it's often better than the daily forex rate, there's clearly no commission. A massive difference to CBA travel card which is like a 5% commission, which is total crap. - no annual fees, some reviews mentioned a fee, but I don't see how this is possible since the card is clearly advertised as zero annual fee.
AVERAGE - 55 day no-interest free period. nothing to complain about here - high interest rate. Who the hell doesn't pay off their card in full at the end of the month though anyway?? - Support. I've called up bankwest several times, and they've always been good to deal with over the phone. no complaints there either. - perks and rewards. Nil except travel insurance, not even sure if it's even that great, never used it though. But seriously, if you're into credit card points or rewards, this card has none. I'm just going to put it out there that credit card rewards are designed and proven to motivate you to waste money and are long term bad, but yeah, this card has no rewards, get over it.

Great experience – I was super worried when I applied for this card and then came across the negative reviews. It took several days for my application to be processed, but it was approved no problems at all. I wasn't even contacted for any further information. I was able to complete the budget questions very accurately though, as I track every expenditure. I now… Read more
have the card and it is set up ready for our trip overseas.
The application and setup were very straight forward and when I did need to call customer services with a few queries, it was Australian based service and very friendly/helpful.
A go to travel card – Have been using this card in Norway, Denmark, UK, Thailand, Singapore, Malta, Malaysia No application fee, no international fees, good exchange rate and able to see purchases instantly via the app. This is excellent to save getting ripped off after purchases. Complimentary travel insurance is great but limited to 31 days you can upgrade and get… Read more · 1

Love it – I didn’t qualify for the platinum zero Mastercard 4 years ago when I first applied. So I was stuck with the basic zero Mastercard. Paid some foreign transaction fees. But otherwise it was great. Use the card for all my daily expenses. I called up yesterday in the hope that 4 years of good credit card ownership would have earned me the right for a… Read more
platinum even though my income was unchanged. I wasn’t holding out much hope to be honest. But I thought I’d try. And Voila! Today I received an email that’s approved my platinum zero Mastercard. Under 48hours, maybe even under 24hours I dare say, from my phone call to approval. Amazing. What an incredible job from Bankwest. I can’t believe it was that fast. Whiplash fast. Everybody knows the perks of the platinum so I won’t go into it. But Bankwest is all systems go, amazeballs. AMAZING
Negative reviews
The application process is long and it’s stupid to assign me a customer number before I even started the credit card application. I’ve never had any issues applying for credit cards with other banks but bankWest declined me twice 2 years in a row even though I have a stable job, have more than enough savings and assets. The reason why I applied for their credit card all because of the no international trans fee. Don’t waste your time.
Don't bother to apply if your a pensioner, there not interested in pensioners. They will put you through a difficult and lengthy application process and then decline you. Show details
Give Bankwest the flick – Bankwest is a subsidiary of the Commonwealth Bank, and its staff have the same poor attitude towards customer service. I closed my Bankwest Platinum Debit Mastercard account because of this. I can't be bothered going into the details of how frustrating it is dealing with this bank. If bloodymindedness was an Olympic event, Bankwest would be gold… Read more
medallists. I suggest opening a Macquarie Bank account instead. That's what I did, and I'm very pleased with their high interest rate and convenient access.

Poor application process - gave up – Thought I’d apply for this credit card for an upcoming overseas trip as it seems to have a good fee structure for foreign transactions. Clunky process that required me to go to the post office to do voi ??( which I did) and then kept getting messages saying I hadn’t progressed application. Long time waiting for a call back to work out yes they… Read more
had everything but I needed to talk to the credit card team about it and be on hold for an indeterminate period - aka let’s waste at least 45 minutes if your time on top of everything else. Um, Nup …Abandoned. If this is how they treat you at onboarding god knows what happens as a customer. If you enjoy being on hold , jumping through hoops and chatting to call centre support people..this is the card and bank for you.
So so travel card. Bad exchange rate – The only con is the exchange rate. It is so bad compare to market rate. So it is no ideal for travel at all. Use WISE, it has almost the same rate as market. Show details
10 out of 10 credit card now true to its form as ‘Zero’ – Removed travel insurance without warning after providing it! Yes unbelievable but recently I purchased travel using my BW platinum cc. Bankwest Covermore issued me with a certificate of insurance and even spent an hour on the phone for the medical. Exactly one week later I received a letter which stated that BW are no longer doing travel insurance… Read more
and policy is now void. I emailed BW complaints and they said they would allocate me a case manager to resolve. The case manager emailed me gave me one day to respond or BW would close the complaint. I missed the one day mark and complained again with a new lodgement. Anyway the resolution was ‘we cannot help you this is an operational decision’. The manager did call me to say but I will have all the benefits of the platinum card still. I asked and what benefits are they now. He was unable to provide an answer.
Bankwest credit card STOPPING complimentary travel insurance 3 September 2024 – Be aware very little customer service anymore. Closed all banks around us. So there's no popping in to sort things out anymore/anywhere. And now be aware Bankwest credit card are cutting out complimentary travel insurance from September 2024
The Card Might be Good, but I will never know, couldn't deal with the application process – I gave up on the application process. The documentation required was out of all proportion with the size of the balance requested (the minimum on the card), and they kept coming back for more. . At a certain point, it became ridiculous, and I realised the card wasn't worth my time. I have an outstanding credit record and yet have never had such a difficult process before to apply a credit card. Show details
Stay away from Bankwest . Customer Service is pathetic – Application got approved a month ago but still haven’t received the card . Person responsible for the application does not even respond . I get the same reply that we are sorry and we have left a note for the person managing your application Show details
Such a great card all round – Had 3 months now. Application process easy, quick, staff helpful, friendly, easy to deal with. Originally applied for basic zero card but changed my mind and they sent me a form to sign and changed my application to the zero platinum immediately. Super easy! Received card about 7 working days after approval. Also got the halo payment ring which… Read more
works surprisingly well too.
Great online banking, hassle free & easy. Will use for future travel also when the world opens up again. Have used for online overseas purchases and daily spend.
One thing that would make it amazing would be some rewards or QF points. That makes me use it less for daily purchases, as I'll switch to my amex to get some points. But with zero fee I guess can't have everything.
Overall a solid card. Have been with Bankwest for a year now for savings etc and they continually do a good job.
Useless Travel Insurance – The Travel Insurance has been changed from Allianze to Covermore and the changes are such an that the insurance cover is almost useless. It does not cover epidemics so that even though we bought the plane tickets 6mths ago we find that are not covered for Coronavirus and finding that out now make it impossible to get cover for Coronavirus. Also it… Read more
now does not cover rental car CWA and now only covers the first 30 days. I would drop this card like a hot potato and look to other cards.
incorrect information – The foreign transaction fees are not 0% they are 2.95% of the transaction amount when you go to the official website and have now cancelled my application for this credit card, smacks of dishonesty to me.

Perfect card for travelling – I have had this card for over 3 years. I have been using this card for overseas traveling in APAC, Europe and NA, the obvious advantage is that you can check transactions from mobile app instantly. And the conversation rate is quite good as well. Show details
The best no annual fee card for travel – This card is great as it has no annual fees, no conversion fees and a great mobile banking system for convenient access during travel or everyday purchases. It also includes free insurance which is not the best, but great for a free card. It would be comparable to 28 Degrees, but is much better than anything else. Show details
No foreign transaction fees – Having an annual fee is a pain but we make a lot of overseas purchases so the zero foreign transaction fees make the card worthwhile. Good customer service over the phone also. Show details
works for us – We have a $7500 limit - we keep it low to keep our spend in check. We have had this card for around 15 years (the product has changed a few times over these years). The rewards are pretty good and we don't pay interest because we are vigilant about paying it off to zero every month. I know there is a fee (around $59 a year I think) which I… Read more
think is a sting due to the fact that bankwest reams us for interest of our mortgages! Overall, we rate bankwest above other banks (we have tried quote a few!) and have generally found their customer service to be excellent. If they brought back the days of giving us our own personal banker boy that would be awesome.
Perfect for overseas transactions – Had this card for years. Highly recommended for overseas purchases / online shopping, as no foreign fees apply. Card was skimmed once, and Bankwest promptly assisted in cancellation of the card, and reissuing a replacement. Show details
Perfect travel credit card – There is no foreign transaction fee if you use the credit card overseas or purchase an overseas product with a foreign currency. Not only that, the card offers very good exchange rate. The exchange is usually better than the rate obtained from Google currency exchange rate. Show details
Best card for travellers – I usually abandon a credit card after a year (when a better deal comes up), but this card could be a game changer. Ticks all the boxes for overseas travellers - free travel insurance, no overseas transaction fees, low annual fee. The customer online services are smooth - convenient message feature and online chat. Contacting BankWest by phone is also easy, no long periods on hold and friendly efficient operators. Show details
Perfect for overseas purchases – Brilliant. I've never had any issues with it. It works every time and never has any exchange fees. I also get free travel insurance when I use it to book >$500 worth of travel items (although I've never had to utilise it). The only bad thing bad thing is having to wait a few days until the purchases are authorised, during which the price can change, but it's not usually too different, depending on the exchange rate of the day. Simple credit card for overseas transactions – It is a simple card without annual fee and reward / big signup bonus. I have this credit card for a couple of years as a backup credit card. Only reason I have it is for overseas transactions where I do not an alternative option. Purchases in overseas has been great without any issues (especially where my other cards were rejected). transactions will be displayed in almost real time through their online banking account or banking app with the original amount in foreign currency and the converted Australia dollars amount - which is very transparent.
The card also has basic complementary overseas travel insurance. It is a very good feature for a credit card without annual fee. But I will not recommend to use it for that purpose if you have an option to cover it with other higher class credit cards that normally come with an annual fee. If you look at the terms of the travel insurance, it unsurprisingly covers less than other higher class credit cards.
Perfect card for travellers – pro's zero annual fee free complimentary travel insurance Application process is simple Balance transfer available acceptable everywhere Con's No proper payment system No online chat support No reward points I m happy with this card as it provides fee complimentary travel insurance Show details
