Poor quality - will not last – ALDI do not sell quality electronic products. All mine have broken after a few years and this TV did as well. terrible. It was half the price of a SONY, however lasted just over 4 years. I suspect the panel is fine however the quality of the electronic components are sub standard. I will not buy another ALDI TV and have stopped buying their electronic products. Food is great and other general items are fine. Pay a little more and buy a decent TV to avoid sending it to the tip.

when we try and change channels and volume quickly. The picture is fine. We don't use it for 4k content. Only streaming and FTA. But the 4K streaming content looks great. We had smaller version of the TV that failed, but that was used as a CCTV monitor, so no surprise the power board failed. I'm now looking at the 75" 2022 version as an upgrade purely so I can connect headphones via Bluetooth and not via the 3.5mm jack.
Lasted 2 years before losing picture. ATV50UHD-1219 – Purchased Aldi in Feb 2020. No real complaints until losing screen just recently. Shortest life of any TV I've owned. So off to landfill, I will not purchase another one.

Keep Away from Aldi TV's – Bought this TV in June 2018, haven't used much but after 20 months it became faulty. Repair cost doesn't worth to be spent on it. Ahhh not to mention that it has worst speakers in it... definitely need a seperate sound bar with it. Picture quality is not bad though but reliability matters. Show details

Had this TV for under 2 years and I Can’t watch TV for longer than 20mins at a time without the screen going blank – I’m having the same issue as one of the other customer reviews, had the TV for under 2 years, the screen blinks then goes completely blank and only the sound can be heard. 20mins. Spoke with Bauhn and they will not replace the TV as the warranty has run out. My advice stay away and purchase another brand on the lower end of the price scale if that’s what you are shopping for.
The picture packed in after 16 months – I always found the picture a bit dim especially on you tube. After 15 months the picture on the $1,600 TV started to blink for 1 second, then it happened more frequently until I had no picture at all just sound. Size matters: Good picture but poor sound – This TV gives you a large image for a small price. The picture looks very good once you get the settings right. It can take a while to work out the best settings to use. The wrong settings can mislead you into thinking the picture quality isn't all that good. If you have the text option on it locks up after extended use: This is presumably a CPU issue... but easy to fix (just turn the TV off).
The TV is slow to sync to the PVR (Personal Video Recorder: Optus Fetch box) and other devices connected via HDMI: Turn the TV on before you turn on the connected device. Alternatively, just restart the connected device. If you leave the PVR (Personal Video Recorder) on it will probably eventually sync... but it's a long wait. Sometimes you get the sound but not the picture. Connection problems shouldn't occur with HDMI, but many devices have this problem. A HDMI booster might improve the connection?
This is a dumb TV without any smart functions. It's the smart components on a TV that fail most commonly. This probably explains why it's been so reliable. It's very easy and cost effective to add a smart box of some kind and keep doing this every few years as the features improve: Currently connected to a Google 4K TV Streamer to provide smart TV functions... updated from 4K Chromecast.
The TV does support playing video (mpg & avi) or music from any storage device connected via the USB.
Pity the TV has no Wifi support.
As this TV is 4K it should be future-proof for a while.
Love the power draw (under 200W)... as it dropped the power bill by about $20/month despite being much bigger than older TV's: LED backlighting explains the low power draw. LED backlighting should be much more reliable than the older fluoro backlighting as only one LED at a time will ever fail... and you'd probably never notice it (there are a lot of LED's behind the LCD panel). Fluorescent backlighting leaves a black strip when it fails and is usually too expensive to fix.
There is a manual control on the back of the TV (bottom right-hand corner) in case you lose your remote. This is nice... as a lot of cheap TV's are unusable when you lose the remote. Unfortunately, not all the features are accessible via the manual controls. That's a real pain!
A replacement Bauhn universal remote is fairly cheap but is minus a few of the features found on the original remote despite Aldi claiming the Bauhn universal remote is 100% compatible. A non-Bauhn universal remote was even worst. Tried the remote IR app on the phone and that also couldn't do more than power the TV off. Eventually, we got frustrated and bought a second original remote (not too expensive).
The TV shows no signs of failing prematurely (been running it now since 2018)... although we have a Power Factor Correction (a power filter) on the mains and a second power filter on the power socket to smooth power fluctuations.
N.B. We have a masthead booster on the antenna which stops pixelation of the picture due to poor signal... but this is a problem with all TV's... not just this one. Wish someone would incorporate a masthead amplifier (signal booster) in most TV's.
Happy to recommend this cheap Aldi TV.

Daylight Saving Time default not appreciated in Queensland – In Queensland my Bauhn TV defaults to stupid daylights saving time. To fix, I have to re-scan/re-install the channels and do it all when DST ends on southern states. BTW the sound is terrible and it won’t allow me to install the new ABC radio facility either!!! Agreed. GOOD and NOT BAD for the PRICE, but – I agree, in general, with the comments of Bradox87 and Jai (both above). The picture quality on the HD channels is excellent. Special Deals a few times since. Fortunately, I've got no black spots on the screen after ONE year. No, it's not a smart TV, but that's easily fixed by purchasing an Apple TV, Fetch TV, Chromecast or similar devices, which will give you the Internet connectivity you want for not much more than the difference between the Hisense price ($764) and the Bauhn price ($555). Overall quite good, especially the HD channels, for the price.

Excellent product for the price – I got this product about 2 months ago. Really a good product for the price you pay. Has all the features apart from smart TV. I use Android box and it's a smart TV now so no problem. It's a UHD TV with 4k resolution and 4 HDMI PORT, 1 USB PORT AND some component Port. Lasted only 6 months – Good picture. Easy to use. Could only fit 1 USB at a time when it has 2 ports. Problem is it only lasted 6 months. It's only $399 but thought it might lasts at lest 3 years. really decent movies either on blue-ray or through Netflix 4K with the help of apple TV. nothing wrong with Sound when you connect through to a AV receiver all the HD channels output in Dolby Digital and its all good.

This is what you get when you buy cheap – Had A well known brand TV for years now and back then paid eight times what they are now. It was time to upgrade and we bought this TV because it was cheap and double the size of our old TV. The quality is good of the screen but there's a slight lack of htmi ports and no PC port. Good for the price – Bought the 58" 4k tv a month ago for $555, I was pleasantly surprised at the picture quality as it is very good. Simple quick set up. Downside is the sound quality but I already thought being a house brand tv not to expect much in sound quality. Simple fix with a soundbar. Don't buy Aldi TV's!!!! if you have one get a case started before your 12 months run out – mine started to play up within warranty but then the issue resolved before I contacted them, it's now 3 months out of warranty and is going to cost $$$ to repair, it takes forever to get through to the repairers on the bauhn tv line because they have so many callers. Not bad for the Price – I purchased this Bauhn 58 inch TV about a month ago July 2018 and it is average for the money - So far so good. The picture quality in HD is good for the price but the sound is very poor quality; you will need a sound bar. Sadly that’s where the pros end.
Cons:
- Picture looks washed out and over saturated. Skin tones all look like a bad spray tan.
- Lack of picture control to combat the poor colour science.
- UHD 4K playback is only viewable through an external device ie: 4K player.
- Internal USB media player does NOT play 4K media.
- No ‘smart’ apps or streaming services.
Conclusion:
If you are someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot on a 49” TV, and are not picky about picture quality, then this is a perfect option for you. However if you want to invest a couple of hundred $$ more, you can get a tv that is leaps and bounds better than this one.
I returned and purchased a Sony kd49x7000e instead. $900 is a fair bit more, but definitely worth the price.
A big house in the poor part of town – It's a very large piece of screen real-estate for your dollar. However it is not location location location.
