in only the first year, due to a streaky discolouration which could not been be cleaned off.

- all parts that are made of mild steel are rusting (I do not live near the sea or in a humid area)

- even parts that are supposed to be stainless or chromed are rust affected

- most of the labeling (eg Hi and Lo indicators) have worn off

- the grill is useless as it constantly catches fire if used

- one of the wheels (plastic) has collapsed under the weight of the BBQ

- the hood thermometer is faulty

I too have had much cheaper overseas built BBQs that have performed better and lasted longer. If indeed this unit was built in Australia, then BeefEater should be ashamed of themselves.

From BBQ Galore Penrith – Cheap and nasty. 2 hours to build as they arrive in kit form. Parts especially screws and injectors cheap and thread is broken very easily. Charged $25 extra for single injector, they would not replace for free. 90 minute round trip. Overall, not worth the $700 plus price tag. Very Disappointed. Poor after sales service.

Who would believe Australians re-invented rust – We bought the 900 series in January 2013. We cook out 1-3 times/week. We use Shell LPG. The grill began rusting in April 2013. We followed all manufacturer recommendations and the HK Distributor's recommendations for cleaning out the rust, and protecting the parts most susceptible to rust. and Canola Oil on most other parts, including 3 new gas jets which the distributor provided to us free when we returned the initial 3 jets after 14 months of use.

These initial 3 jets had cracked open due to rust and no amount of Canola oil prevented or slowed down the rust. We also had large rust cracks on the back side ledge where the Right side and Middle gas jets sat. ( It appears that the powder coating process in the Chinese factory making the grill must have completely missed covering these areas- as the ledge on which the third jet on the left side had never had any rust.

The grill was on an outdoor porch protected from the wind and rain on 3 sides. We would let the grill dry, if it had rained, before covering it with 1 of 2 covers given to us by the distributor. Each cover only lasted about 12 months before it would deteriorate and disintegrate. We tried to follow all suggestions from the distributor but to no avail. It appears that not only did the first and second set of jets rust out after liberally applying canola oil no less than once/monthly, but that the ledge in the back on which the gas jets sat, had holes which the rust had enlarged to 4" each.

This week, the grill became unusable as the holes became so large that the gas jets would no longer sit properly due to the size of the holes. We reviewed many suggestions on line as to how to protect the metal in the grill but to no avail. We never used water to try to clean out the grill but we often put canola on many parts and even left many parts indoors when we went travelled. Originally, we also let the new jets sit indoors for a period of one week, coated with Canola Oil, giving them time to let the Canola soak in to protect the metal. We are so disappointed with the product and the lack of response from the manufacturer, who does not even appear to have an email address on their website - their "Contact Us" link does not work for asking questions.

This was not an inexpensive purchase, being about HKD 7,000 / USD 903. Today we took the grill back to the distributor and left it in front of their building. Never again will we ever buy a BeefEater. Note to BeefEater Management: Assuming you have a team...Fire your QC / QA team. They must be getting paid off to allow such a poor quality product to come out of a Chinese factory and be sold to consumers. And if you do not have a QA/QC team in the factories, then fire the head of sourcing who approved such a shoddy product to be manufactured in the China Factory. As a member of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in HK for many years, this is such a disappointment to have from an Australian product. so now it is time to move one and look to BBQ grills from S. Africa, Germany, and yes, even America. Goodbye BeefEater and good riddance.

I was put off by initially reading the reviews on this site but trusting my own research i went ahead & purchased this bbq. I highly recommend it. Having said that; our bbq is under cover with a protective cover & we let it cool before closing it [per manufacturers instructions] to avoid condensation. Hopefully those measures prevent the rust issues others have had. At +50% the price of the cheap & nasties it is at least x5 better. The side burner hose attachment must be assembled carefully - appears flimsy. The front doors on the body are a PITA to assemble & didnt line up at first, a second burst of screw driving fixed it.

Cheap and nasty – We bought this BBQ after owning several cheap $300 items from a well known hardware store thinking it will last longer and work better. Rust after 1 month; after 2 months frame warping so hood doesn't close – Taken 4 months to have service look at it - after I went back to retailer and chased up with numerous phone calls to both Retailer and Beefeater. After the second visit by the warranty serviceman they finally replaced the rusted parts. However, we are still waiting to hear regarding warping of frame.
