Junk belkins – Do not buy this junk!!! Invest in a better brand and save yourself the migraines...We've probably had this maybe three years tops and it has always cut in and out, but the last 6 months has been a nightmare, it disconnects at least ten times a day!!! I called Spectrum and spent several days with them troubleshooting, they came to the conclusion… Read more
that something was wrong with the Belkin and that I should call them that they would deff be able to help. They did nothing!!! They told me the device was not under warranty so I either needed to buy a new one or pay the fee they have so they can troubleshoot it. It's a scam and their products sucks, I had a similar experience years ago with my elderly parents Belkin doing the same exact thing. It's worth paying a little more and going with a better brand. I took the belkin and tossed it right in the trash were it belongs.
Most compatible brand with my ISP – Ever since I learned that Belkin modems are the most compatible with my ISP I have been using them for a good 8 years, then I moved and switched to NBN, at which point the ISP provided me with a new modem. The WiFi strength was good enough to cover the entire apartment, and connection was very stable - would not disconnect unless there is an… Read more
outage. It is now my spare modem in case the ISP provided one fails, as it is also NBN compatible. I would not hesitate to buy another Belkin.
Quite good, but cuts out occasionally – This modem/router does its job when it is working, though I have had this product randomly cut out and this causes brief outages to all phones/computer/devices using the internet. The cut out is very short (a few seconds) though this is quite annoying when you are streaming internet videos such as netflix online. Show details
Good enough for an apartment – I bought this router when I was living in a two bedroom apartment and it was fine. Did everything I needed it to to. As soon as I moved Into a Normal sized house I realised I would need to upgrade as there was no range in half of the house. Show details
BELKIN N600DB F9J1102 v2 – This router has not let me down one single second, in fact it is the best most reliable router I have ever had. No problems, easy setup page and your online, shape and overall look is stylish so I like it, price is cheap just be sure to update the firmware once you get it.
The cause of all my problems – I had ongoing internet connection problems and problems with devices communicating properly over Wi-Fi, such as apple TV, for a long time. I blamed the devices. I questioned my ISP. In the end this modem died after less than two years, and when I replaced with a brand new more expensive different brand, suddenly all my other devices worked again. This is without doubt the worst modem/router I've ever had the displeasure of owning.
Okay, but with faults – I work in IT so I have come across many enterprise and consumer grade wireless devices. I would say Belkin is mostly aimed at people who enjoy easy setup and get thing going without the need for any advanced features. The GUI is nice and clean. The best part is these routers offer lifetime warranty. Now the bad... Clearly Belkin lacks… Read more
maturity in the networking space. Although the GUI is nice and clean there are bugs. For those who know what the AP mode feature is, in Belkin routers there is a massive bug that does not allow you to set and IP for the router when its on this mode.
Also, the simplest change in the router require a reboot. Example - you cannot set everything in one go and then reboot the router. Not a deal breaker but annoying when you are setting things up.
I didn't really see any performance issues with this router as such but the software clearly needs lot more maturity. And because Belkin is as not as popular as other brands such as Netgear, D-link the firmware release cycle seems not that great... meaning all these bugs will remain there.
Saying that... if you are after a router+modem with simple setup and just works without the need of advanced features this is worth the consideration specially because of the lifetime warranty option. But there are other good products out there with 2-3 year warranty for the same price which offer more features.
