Bendigo Bank Home Loan

Worst bank I have dealt with in my life. Trying to sell and they simply do not accept the settlement invite from our conveyancing lawyers, even after several phone calls from me, my partner and the solicitor. Every operator you speak to tells you a different story. I reckon they even aren't trustworthy amongst banks and so not get the money to… Read more
pay back their mortgage holders.
Bad banks need a lesson and they have to be held responsible for every single cent of inconvenience at everyone's end.
Start away from them or Aussie. Totally unprofessional and the last thing they should handle is money or other people's future.
1 star is to much for them,,, I would definitely give negative rating if we would have that option. I am talking for home loan department. Waste my 3 month and ended up with no thing, gone with another bank, they did with in 3 days. Recommend not to go with this bank especially home loan.
There is an idea that 'The purpose of a system is what it does'. In that case, the purpose of Bendigo Bank's Third Party Retention Team is to waste their customers' time and push them to competitors while maintaining the pretence of helping. I applied for a loan through Tiimely ~2 years ago, and the process was relatively pain-free. What I didn't… Read more
realise at the time was that Bendigo Bank actually services the loan post-settlement, and hence handles refinancing.
Bendigo Bank's business model for white-label customers appears to be: let the front-end brand attract customers with competitive offerings, then treat those existing customers appallingly once they're trapped in the system.
When I enquired about refinancing at a lower rate, I was initially treated with what seemed like a genuine attempt to help. Bendigo Bank's Third Party Retention Team reached out claiming they wanted to help review my rate and could potentially lower it.
The problems started immediately. They asked me to research competitor rates myself, claiming that they only did this "in case I had a special rate they didn't have access to". Then they systematically rejected every single rate I provided using increasingly bizarre criteria. They claimed certain products weren't "like-for-like" despite offering identical functionality.
When I pointed out contradictions in their logic, they simply refused to engage honestly and started giving me rudely brief replies. They claimed to have comprehensive market data but wouldn't use it to make competitive offers, because it was an "internal document" (then why mention it in the first place?). After 11 emails back and forth, their final answer was "we won't help you, try again and hope for an RBA cut" (which is not a rate reduction; all ethical lenders pass on RBA cuts).
Their retention team appears trained in creative excuse-making rather than actual problem-solving. The entire process felt deliberately designed to frustrate customers into giving up rather than genuinely trying to help them lower their rates. Why even waste a customer's time in the first place? Literally just saying "no, we can't help" would have been better than pretending that they could help and then proceeding to waste their customer's time.
If you value being treated with basic respect as an existing customer, avoid Bendigo Bank. Their retention process seems purpose-built to drive customers to competitors whilst maintaining plausible deniability.
p.s. my LVR is <40%, I have perfect credit, and have never missed a repayment - so this treatment wasn't due to me being a "risky customer".
Worst experience ever held with a lender in Bendigo Bank Picton branch Went in and saw the branch lender who said he will call me back and never heard back When I called the branch he was not available I went in branch again the branch was closed at 1pm what type of bank is this
Extremely arrogant and dysfunctional organization – AVOID THIS BANK AT ALL COST! I was getting a home loan from them. The consultant Naomi made primary-school-student mistakes like calculating monthly income by weekly income times four (should be 4.3), like sending me forms prefilled with other customer's details. I had to correct these mistakes, and this hurt her ego. From then on she refused to… Read more
tell me the progress of the loan.
When it was only a week before the settlement deadline, she still refused to tell me when the loan could be approved. My conveyor contacted the seller to postpone the settlement but was refused, so I was about to lose my $100K deposit and the house. I called more than 70 times, sent 47 emails, but she just refused to say a word about when it can be approved.
In the last few days before the settlement the bank made countless mistakes such as telling me a valuer had been booked but in fact they hadn't. I had to call multiple times to check the status and push them to proceed one step forward. They always promised that the responsible person would call back but they never did.
Eventually the load was approved TWO DAYS BEFORE THE SETTLEMENT only due to my 70 calls and 47 emails. Naomi never told me a word about when it could be approved. She obviously took pleasure in seeing me pulling my hairs off.
I made a complaint afterwards with proof of all the mistakes and mishandling, but the bank refused to say a word of apology.
An absolutely sick person and a dysfunctional and extremely arrogant organization. They should not be allowed to operate. If I can wind back the time I would pay $1000 just to avoid this bank. I immediately refinanced all my loans away from them.
Bendigo Bank Mortgage Help centre – There is no mortgage help here. It's a pretend service that does nothing but debt collection. It could vary from phone calls, freezing your account to lowering your credit score just because you are one payment behind. Sorry to hear about a good bank going to a lower level using this section with zero customer service skills. Prewarning to all… Read more
thinking of applying for a loan, don't get caught. Your branch will pass your details to these guys the moment you miss one repayment. Use big 4 banks atleast they are not down to this level yet.
Don't go to Bendigo if you are self-employed – We were with Service alliance bank for our first mortgage and this bank was later bought by Bendigo Bank. We have a company and me and my wife showed very decent combined income and we went for an investment property loan to them, the experience was terrible. after checking our income and expenses the loan officer in Branch confirmed us, we may… Read more
borrow between 550-650k and then after lodging the application she came back and said they can lend up to 360k , what a big difference. and then after one more week they informed we can borrow only 200k. we then asked the loan officer if they can lend us only 140k out of our equity as a top up loan with our current mortgage to pay off one of our personal loan and the rest to buy towards the deposit of an investment property. They initially confirmed they can only issue this loan same length ( 28 years) as our existing mortgage with them and after one week they come back and said this loan they only issue for 10 years and they can't service this loan. What a joke! their loan officer dont know a lot of loan related stuffs and in the end we suffered. we wasted over 4 weeks with this application and the result was zero. We felt like they dont like someone with self-employed background and their staffs don't know anything about loans. If you are a self employed and considering seeking a loan with them better go somewhere else and save your time.
dismal communication – I guess they don't want our money... Responses take over a month by email, even when given a date saying "I'll get back to you about this tomorrow." Because of their delays, the paperwork we originally submitted is too old and they want us to submit it all over again! Which of course means our borrowing power is less due to rate rises in the meantime. Stay away!
5 Home loans later – I’m not the one home loan for 30 years type. So every 2-3 years I finish renovating, get itchy feet and trade up or into my next home. Bendigo have made every home loan application/transaction fast, efficient, fair and fuss free. I’ve been doing this for the past 15 plus years. They have always supported my home changing habit making the… Read more
application process work with my FIFO roster. Providing online document signing options when I’m away and personal face to face meetings when I’m in town. The flexibility, understanding and personal customer service is truly exceptional. Rates are fair, fees are low and the level of care is industry leading. All my accounts are with Bendigo now, personal, business, mortgage, even my SMSF account. Happy to talk with anyone in person any time to share the ongoing exceptional experience I have banking with Bendigo. (I’m with Bendigo bank Bunbury Western Australia)
Lovely Service – I spoke to a lovely lady on the phone today about refinancing. She was very patient, down to earth and very willing to assist me. If she didn’t know the answer, she would check with her Manager.
Great customser service – I took out a home loan with this lot a while back and they were a breeze to deal with compared to fuss of doing my owner occupier with another mob, just make sure you had your docs on hand to make it smooth and quick
responsbile, moral and ethical lending???? – I would like to know does bendigo bank have in place protection for the aged care? what are their responsbilities, ethical and moral obligations to allow a 80 year old aged care pensioner to have his home used as security for a company using his home as a security for their own benefit over a 30 year term? What are the loans of this type used… Read more
for? especially when given to a company? That would make that person 120years old by the time the loan matures. What are their lending responsbilities to consider that this would be good lending practices?

Know better, choose better.
Good – Very friendly staff and suroundings. I am very happy to be with this bank, but in my experience, a few alterations could be made to improve the service. I havn't been with the bank for very long, but so far, everything has been successful and all the staff have welcomed me and assisted me alot. Can be quite time-consuming depending on the staff.
Terrible – Had a loan for 4 years. (Only kept it that long to avoid excessive discharge fees)They made heaps of mistakes with amount of interest charged and fees. There are better Banks. Products read ok, some rates are competitive. The staff and management are from some 50's time warp. Hopeless at dealing with anything out of the ordinary. Most staff do not seem to know the products.
Excellent – I spent some time hunting around for a more customer-focussed bank, and one that didn't force me to spend ages in a phone queue while an automated voice told me that they 'valued my custom'. Yeah, right. Tried visiting a few branches of a couple of the final picks, as well as contacting them and seeing what the response was. From Bendigo, it… Read more
was a very fast response and by an individual, real person! Who actually sounded as though she was listening and paying attention. This feels like returning to the good bits about having a local bank - someone who knows you and someone you can ask when you need info/something done etc. I'm happy - was recommended to this bank by a friend who'd switched to them, and I'm very glad she did. Would happily recommend them to anyone else. Very customer-focussed, as well as focus on community. Swapped to this bank recently for my business and personal, after finally getting tired of the lack of customer focus by one of the Big Four. This is the first time in literally years that I get to talk to individual people who actually know me, and who will do things/fix things for me. And after 2 months, I'm paying less in fees (and getting wayyyy more on interest) on my business account than I was before. Great website for online banking. Not much at this point.
Excellent – A terrific bank, but be aware that its interest rates on home loans are not quite as competitive as they should be. Its ATM network has become bigger but its branch network in Australia's capital city CBDs requires immediate improvement. Community-focussed. Growing ATM network. Pretty consistent service at its Australian branches. The bank… Read more
lacks a presence in central Sydney and only has a single branch in Melbourne's CBD which is very poor. It also focuses too much on 'saving the environment' when it shoudl focus on lowering the interest rates it charges borrowers a little more.
