Best Floor Sanding aka JML Flooring’s website and email states: Your job will take 2-3 days to complete, depending on drying time. Day 1: All sanding done, punch and putty, first 2 coats applied. 1st coat: High solids primer 20-30mins dry time. 2nd coat: Is Polyurethane 12 - 48hr dry time. Day 2 or 3: Spot punch & putty, light sand, vac, damp cloth over whole floor 3 times, final coat applied 24hr dry time. The employees disappeared the second day and [name removed] debited my credit card immediately. He sent me pictures of the completed job whilst the paintwork was wet which looked good, but when the paint dried the floors looked terrible. (I now noticed all the pictures on their website are taken whilst the floors are wet!) No one called to check whether the job was completed satisfactorily and the employees did not hang around the following day and rushed to return to the mainland. (I also later found out that one employee took their significant other on the trip - on which I paid for the accommodation!). When I got to the house, I noticed that the flooring was very dull and there was dust absolutely everywhere! On windows, shelves, dishwasher, ledges, sinks, toilets etc etc - ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE. I talked to my painter and he was extremely upset as the dust went all over the walls he was painting and he had to repaint a large portion of the house. I emailed [name removed] regarding this and my other concerns with the way the flooring looked and his reply was: 1. Painting should have been done after flooring (which is incorrect advice - in fact it is recommended by professional flooring companies that flooring be done LAST). Also, a good flooring company would cover all items and make sure minimal dust was left in the house. I truly think that they had no dust covers. Even my french doors were covered in dust on the outside! Obviously they opened the doors when they did the job and made no effort to stop the dust. 2. In regards to my credit card being debited the same day, [name removed] stated that he had asked me whether he could take payment as soon as the job was completed when I paid the deposit over the phone and said that I told him yes over the phone (I did no such thing. I would assume that a professional business would check that everything was OK before taking final payment) especially knowing that I was in Melbourne and would be in QLD only a few days after the job was completed and trusting them to complete the work professionally without viewing. It is also very convenient for the company to debit any money whether the job is good or not as they only take the deposit via credit card. They KEEP credit card details and take the rest of the payment without permission. 3. [name removed] stated that houses near sand would never get gloss finishes and my house was done in a semi-gloss and therefore would look dull. My house in Melbourne has 10 year old floors that are next to the beach that have not been sanded since I have lived in them and the floors look 100 times better than the floors Best Floor Sanding completed. 4. [name removed] then emailed “we can’t please everyone as I’m sure you would know” when I expressed my concerns that the flooring did not look as though it had three layers of paint applied. He stated that it had three layers even though his employees disappeared the second day. I am so upset by [name removed] of Best Floor Sanding aka JML Flooring. The wood in the floors is very good quality and the floors in the house would have looked amazing had they been completed correctly. My painter also confirmed that the flooring did not look as though it had three coats applied and I will need to get the floor repainted to an acceptable level. I will engage my painter to repaint the floors once the Covid19 isolation is over. I certainly would not engage [name removed] from Best Floor Sanding aka JML Flooring again in any capacity. Not only did they do a bad job but [name removed] lied and just gave me excuses. He had no intention of fixing the problem. He simply seemed concerned in taking his money and off to the next job. His statement is “you can’t please everyone.” My advice is to stay away from this company as they are not interested in doing a good job and because I was in Melbourne and couldn't view the process, it was very simple for them to do a bad job and disappear.
