This is perfect fit for family – It’s used regular commute and serviced regularly. Usually twice in year with service packages. Show details
Absolutely amazing – I use my X5 for family drives, commuting to work. I use it almost everyday. The service is 20,000 km or every 12 months v Show details
Elegent and high quality product but missed some basics – Finish is elegent and high quality, engine performance far more than a 3litre petrol SUV would ever give, Fuel efficiency is ~12km per litre or 8.33 litres to do 100km which is exceptional for a V6, comfort is 2nd to none and the feeling you get when you sit in the cockpit is euphoric. Additional features - Self driving , Auto parking, hot and… Read more
cold drink holders and voice command are game changers.
Missed a few tricks for a $140k car though, apple car play is very troublesome , when an android device is connected the response is much better as you can still use BMW assisted voice command unlike in apple play. Break responsiveness for front collision is low unlike other vehicles comaparing against my previous 2015 Grand Cherokee. Heated steering wheeel - how did you miss that BMW. And in built camera's for video recording is pointless as it cannot be used as a dashcam and only automatically pops up at its own wish.
Car shutting down, door opening without reason, the main dashboard not working, water entry into car on both sides – Private use, family car. Daily use for twin toddlers. 20k a year km. Services a recommended. Sad that BMW have not solved significant issues. Who has time to take a car back every few months for repairs. Show details
Really nice car, but could be so much better – First time owner of a BMW X5 xDrive30d G05 and I must say that overall I am happy that I made the decision but was rather surprised, if not disappointed, about some key features that are missing and appear to be completely over looked. My previous vehicle was a Hyundai Tuscon Highlander, and while the BMW iDrive system appears to be complex and… Read more
very customisable, the Tuscon was hands-down more customisable in terms of settings for key functions.
Pros - Comfort, handling and super low road noise - Steering assistance is a delight to use and works very well - Reverse and parallel parking assistant works perfectly - Trim, upholstery and build quality is well executed - Powerful but quiet engine - Drive Recorder works well - Very fuel efficient for such a large car
Cons - Complete lack of fixed Safety Camera warnings for Australia. (Note - BMW have launched a Safety Camera app for the US market but there is no sign of timing of release for the Australian market.) - Wireless charging pad is really sensitive with my Samsung S10 and I find I have to resort to USB cable to get a reliable charge. - Lack of customisation of key safety features. For example Blind Spot Detection - only provides haptic feedback through the steering wheel and sometimes it is very difficult to sense. There is no adjustment for the haptic feedback intensity or to add an acoustic warning. - There is no Australian content in the News app. Seems almost exclusively Asian news. - Keep getting a notification to complete a Remote Software Update from time to time but when I manually check from the car there is no update found. - BMW dropped the 20GB Music storage which used to be a standard option. Now you need to purchase your own USB stick and take up an available USB slot to play recorded music. - Touch pad entry using your left hand is almost useless (unless you are a left-hander!) - Panorama Sun Roof can't be controlled from the in-car Voice commands.
Overall The lack of Safety Camera alerts was a significant step backwards in a top end car and I really miss this feature. Korean and Japanese competitors have had this in their vehicles for several years already. Really very surprised that BMW can't get their act together to provide the same system. In fact, Here Maps provides the underlying technology and data to the Korean and Japanese competitors and is actually owned by a conglomerate of European automobile manufactures which includes BMW. The iDrive system looks as if it is very advanced and can customise settings to the finest points. In reality, it looks more complicated to use than you actually get the benefit and when you get really into the depths, there is very little that you can customise or want to use. The basics are there, but certain features like the Blind Spot Detection that I indicated to above can't be tweaked at all.
Hopefully future software updates will address some of these concerns and I can come back and update the rating.
Beautiful car with great fuel efficiency – I use this car for personal and professional use. Amazingly spacious and luxurious, as I had many upgrades that were included including a 10-year servicing plan. It's a beautiful car that rides well is fuel-efficient and the best in its class. Show details
Awesome car, the best I've owned – I purchased this SUV in March 2019 as a replacement for my 2014 X5 F15 30d, and I am surprised how much it has been improved. I use this vehicle for commuting to work every day, and as my familys primary weekender/holidays car including towing a small boat. This vehicles ride is extremely smooth, and surprisingly soft - given it came with M-Sport… Read more
package and 21" wheels. Cabin noise is very low, especially on the highway/freeway, however I think the Pirelli tyres are more the source of the noise than the road surfaces I travel on. I'll definitely be switching to Michellans or Bridgestone tyres in the near future. The interior is amazing - very impressive in terms of layout, functionality and quality. The digital displays are great with all information displayed clearly and at hand to the driver and front passenger - the head-up display with speed recognition and warning is amazing, as is the large touch screen display on the dash which supports multiple pages/screens like a tablet PC. The internal ambient LED lighting is very impressive and can be selected from white/blue/green/orange/mauve. The sun-roof is truly panoramic - nice and big, its almost like driving a convertible - great when you're driving on a road which has a forest canopy. The leather seats are high quality, very comfortable, soft yet supportive - so going for long drives is a pleasure and you get out still feeling fresh. The engine and transmission is very smooth, and has been vastly improved over the last model - which I find extraordinary as I didn't believe much could be improved over the last. Gear changes are silky smooth, quiet and seamless. Fuel economy is also surprising, and to date I get better mileage per tank than the previous model, even though this new model is larger and slightly heavier. The amazing thing is how quiet the engine and exhaust system has made this car - its hard to believe its a Diesel. I would have no hesitation in recommending this vehicle, I think this one might be a keeper for the longer term.
