AVOID if you can! RUN as far as possible. The Bistro grinder has a very poor quality. I grinded 1 kilo of coffee beans once every two months. The first grinder broke after 18 months. Bodum replaced it. The second one broke after 10 uses. Do NOT waste your money or time on this poor quality product.

Just bought a Bodum Bistro coffee grinder. Used for a couple of weeks now and it is just superb. Great price, easy to use and gives the best grind for my French press as well as my drip machine. See photo of my coffee station. Show reply

AVOID THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT SOLD CHEAPLY ONLINE THROUGH BODUM – A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. Sold cheaply through Bodum. This new coffee grinder bought 3 months ago and had about 2 months of use before giving up. It has a good quality grind wheel but the plastic gears are defective. Despite cleaning it thoroughly the plastic gears slip. It no longer grinds after a few short months of use and can’t be repaired. I… Read more

checked a bit of feedback online and found multiple users had exactly the same problem with this model grinder commenting that it’s cheap but won’t last. Overall it would be a great grinder but unfortunately has this one serious defect rendering it useless.

Broke after a year and only ground two small scoops before spilling everywhere – I purchased this product just over a year ago. It stopped working today. It was always VERY temperamental. Messy and annoyingly erratic when you try to have more than two scoops of beans. When you took the lid off after grinding, dust would fall all over the place and some grinds would end up underneath. All in all, a pretty annoying machine. Also, it was on special and their warranty doesn't cover sale items. Show details

Failed after less than 1Kg of beans ground – Started out happy with the result. Nice fine grind for espresso Then it started to make a loud grating noise and soon after stopped grinding beans. Being curious I opened the casing and discovered that one of the shafts that supports the gears had worn the thin plate that centers it, and consequently the gears had chewed out. Very disappointing for a brand that had been known for quality. Show details

Good grinder – I think this good value for the price, and very suitable for one or a couple of people having daily coffee. And coffee freshly ground is so much better than buying it pre- ground. Agree with Alex’s review - I also find coarser grinds a bit inconsistent, but not enough to bother me really. You cannot take it apart completely to clean, only really… Read more ·  1

possible to brush the mechanism and clean the (rather flimsy) plastic feeder and hopper. I broke the hopper off quite accidentally while trying to dismantle it (the ‘instructions’ are not really clear about that part) but a bit of superglue fixed it. No it’s not professional grade, which is reflected in the price. I am quite satisfied with it. Update - still going strong in 2024

Junk item – After multiple blockages and breakdowns (simply stopped and not due to timing out), I gave up on this product. Cleaning the burrs helped a little but ultimately this is an unreliable product. Avoid. Show details

Great value burr grinder – This is a very nice and modern looking grinder. The grinder has a large range of grind sizes you can select. I found that the coarser grind sizes to be a bit inconsistent i.e. some larger/smaller grounds, the medium to fine (filter coffee to espresso size) was a lot more consistent and quite good actually for the price. The glass canister that… Read more ·  1

the grounds spill into appears to be quite solid and is easy to clean. There is a groove in the middle of the canister for the rubber grip to sit which prevents the grounds from sliding out easily - they get stuck there if you try and tip out the grounds. Not a big deal. Once you remove the glass canister with the grounds, due to the slight shaking of the machine small amounts would fall out and dust the machine. Not a big deal and I just jiggle the machine a bit with the canister there so any excess coffee grind is captured.

As with many grinders it is a bit annoying to clean given you can't completely take it apart. I use a small brush to get the coffee dust out, but I don't look forward to cleaning this.

Given this is one of the cheaper burr grinders available I would recommend this. It is so much better than any blade grinder and delivers pretty consistent grind for home espresso, filter and stove top coffee makers.

This isn't going to deliver professional grade coffee grounds, but for home use this is a great machine.
