Great little Spice grinder – Bought it from Myer about 4 years ago. still runs without any issues. bought a new one as backup just in case the model runs out. Really happy with the product. I wouldn't use this for wet grinding. Very easy to clean and store. I would highly recommend if you want a little spice grinder. never tried coffee so not sure how good this product for coffee.

Works well for me. Unexpected design feature makes it more user friendly than expected – To start with caveats .. 1) I only use it for grinding (frozen) coffee beans and 2) I’ve only had it for a couple of months (although I use it every day). I do note that the base is over-sized compared with alternatives, which suggests that the motor is under-stressed and hence I should be able to keep it for many years. It does exactly what I… Read more

need and it does it well. It’s an old adage in engineering that the fewer parts the better and this (unexpectantly) holds true for the grinder. Specifically, it doesn’t have an on/off button – pressing down on the (safety) lid acts as power-on. It seems trivial but somehow makes the process seem much easier than my memory of an alternative with a separate switch from some years back. It also guarantees that no-one (child?) can “accidentally” run the device without the safety cap on.

A nice side issue is that the user guide comes with details about how to make plunger/French-press coffee “properly” – something I thought I knew until I read that. Luckily, I had also bought a Kmart 1.5L Clear Variable Temperature Kettle (see separate review) so I now make the coffee with 95-degree water instead of boiling.

Food debris in the lid, bad design for the sake of aesthetics – The grinder is great, we use it for many purposes and it works fine. However the problem is in the lid . The lid is mostly plastic but has a steel top , which I dont know why Breville messed up with their design just for some steel looks. The steel top has three hooks which hold to the plastic lid through 3 holes Through these holes, the food, etc… Read more

seeps in and gets accumulated between the lid top and the steel rim on the outside. you can find the details in the photos. I contacted Breville and like any large manufacturer , they threw in some money. they sent me a new lid, which will again in no time get dirty and unhygienic. Breville customer support only promised to pass my comments to other department. However this is pathetic design. i now use the grinder with the steel removed and can clean it daily to 100% satisfaction.

Great compact grinder – I bought a coffee machine and i needed to buy a coffee bean grinder. I didnt want to spend hundreds so after looking at reviews i bought the Breville coffee and spice grinder. It's fantastic, small, compact, easy to clean, 20 seconds the beans ground to perfection. Very happy with it. Show details

Good for grinding spices, convenient to clean – I bought this grinder a few months ago to be able to grind spices. The reason why I chose to buy this particular grinder was because it has a detachable metal head that can be easily cleaned after use. I use it a few times a week to grind pepper, cinnamon sticks, and a few other spices such as nutmeg and all spice. So far no issues. I usually… Read more

grind intermittently to avoid over heating the machine and also the spice. After use I wipe it off with a dry paper towel, rinse it and dry it.

Pretty Happy – Bought a few months to blend spices and it works well It is also nice and compact, doesn't take much space on the counter. So far happy with the purchase. Show details

Not as good as the previous model – I had been really pleased with the previous model for grinding coffee and purchased this one to replace it. This current model is no-where near as good. There is no way to select fine-ness or time of grind. It does grind ok, and I would buy it to grind spices. It is easy to clean and has a good sized ‘bowl’ but not a great coffee grinder. Show details

Breville coffee grinder BC200 – Breville spice and coffee grinder motor works , as does the blade. Nothing is trapped under the blade. However the grinder no longer grinds! The instructions don’t have a troubleshooting section. Show details

Limited features – Breville coffee and spice grinder. Small device, not powerful to do proper grinding. Doesn't really grind spice sufficiently to make it drinkable in coffee. Takes a long time to do grind and keeps guests waiting so they wonder if they will ever get their coffee.

Over heated and stopped working – It is really good at the first time when we use it. However, I started to grind some spices and after about 10-15 min machine started to slowdown and stop working. I only purchased this like 2 months ago and only used ones until now. It does over heat a lot and stopped working for a while. It also started to smell like electric burning from… Read more

inside. Make sure you don't over use it as it says use only 10-15 seconds and if overheated rest it for 10-15min and start again.

Worked well until smoke poured out – Was really happy with the product until i experienced an electrical fault with smoke pouring out the bottom and an electrical burning smell coming from the appliance. Only used lightly (every 2 weeks on average) for 18 months. Breville don't want to help as it's out of their 1 year warranty. Pretty disappointing. Just checked reviews on the breville website and it appears to be a common problem. Show details

Awesome little machine – This little machine is a great. This little machine will do your coffee beans then with a quick wash is good to go for your herbs and spices. Being made from stainless means that once washed they’re no transfer of flavours going from one thing to the next. It’s easy to use and clean with a the steel bowl being removable and as it’s small and compact it’s easy to store away. Show details

Great compact coffee grinder – Perfect size for my apartment and very easy to use. Have had mine for about 1.5 years without any issues, used 2-3 times per week only for grinding coffee beans, though no settings to change the level of grind or speed as it is reliant on however long you decide to grind. Show details

Broken just after 1 year! – I bought this product from goodguys on 25/7/19 and broken just after 1 year which is the default warranty period! Do they make it for 1 year (found similar experience from others)? Show details

12 months and blew up! – Was working nicely for dry spices and ingredients like ginger and galangal. Just after 12 months it stopped a few times as if the grinder was jammed. Today the motor started smoking and died. It was easy to use and clean but disappointed with its short life. Have now bought a semi commercial grinder from Nisbets. Fingers crossed. Show details

Perfect grinder – We can adjust the thickness of the grounded powder. This machine comecomed with an easy clean, removable stainless steel bowl to minimise flavour transfer between ingredients, while delivering freshly ground coffee, herbs and spices in seconds. Strongly recommend.

Small but powerful – Despite its small size this little gem works well. We use it to ground spices and it never fails. Easy to use and clean, plus a small footprint on our limited work space. Very reasonable price.

Perfect for grinding herbs – This affordable and compact unit quickly and easily turns my dried herbs into fine powders. Easy to clean too, though the plastic lid is prone to trapping a bit of water. Show details

Good so far, touch wood – I've had very mixed experiences with Breville to put it politely and so I am pleased to say that this new spice grinder appears to be working well so far. However I've probably only used it for a month and so the real test will be how long it lasts. I would still probably recommend the Cuisinart one over this one though (my Cuisinart broke down recently after 3 years) because that one grinds pepper into a finer powder.

Was good while it lasted – Bought this item in November 2017 and unlike some other Breville products apparently this one only has a 12 month warranty. It didn't get used too much, maybe a dozen times or so and was always cleaned and didn't get wet. Was only used to grind spices for curry so didn't even have to handle hard coffee beans. Today it seized up completely with… Read more

smoke coming out of the bottom and everything. Not happy.

Edit: After writing this review I dismantled the unit and it looks like there is a seal underneath the hopper coupling that has cracked allowing the rotor shaft to move out of position and lockup. I gave the rotor shaft a push which freed it up and the unit works again but without the seal I can't say for how long.

Perfect and so easy to use – I’ve had this grinder for years now and think it’s wonderful. From grinding peppercorns to grinding coffee beans, it’s the jack of all trades. My only bugbear is how hard it can be to clean without hurting your fingers Show details

Love it! – We bought this grinder to replace our beloved Krupps grinder. We were hesitant at first because we thought a burr grinder would be better, but this was MUCH cheaper and surpassed our expectations. It's not too loud, and it grinds coffee perfectly for a really good cup. It's easy to clean and doesn't take up much space on a benchtop. Recommended. Show details

Very happy with this product – Despite the average overall reviews from users, I am very happy with this product. Has a good capacity, grinds very evenly for a blade-type grinder. There are no corners in the grinding chamber for the grounds to get stuck, making it easy to clean as well. Been using nearly every day for a year and it shows no sign of failure or wear. The cord… Read more

storage at the bottom isn't ideal, but it isn't terrible either - can still store the unit neatly in the cupboard. Good value for money.

Good for the price – I use this for milling/blending things like linseed, pumpkin seed, and sesame. It is ideal for slicing up small seeds like this, in a way my food processor is not. It is recommended that you mill plain white rice between usage of aromatic or oily seeds. This works well, but I do wish Breville would occasionally make a product that has dishwasher safe components, because it is time-consuming to clean. Show details

Good for coffee, not powerful enough – I bought the first Breville BCG200 and used it for almost two months, till it broke suddenly, fortunately the good guys replace it with the second one. Then I grind cloves, and it jammed and stop working, but in store it starts working again. Overalls it has good quality for this price. it doesn’t work very well for spices. Maybe the should change the title to just coffee grinder  Show details

Perfect for flax seed :-) – I've tried so many grinders that don't reduce flax (linseed) seeds to a usable consistency without leaving so many un-ground non-digestible seeds. This one does !! - perfect in just a few seconds, woweeee! The only negative is being able to easily clean the grinder, as flax seeds are oily. The base of the unit is not removable so one has to be… Read more

satisfied with only wiping it around with a cloth. Immersion is not an option but possibly, on occasion, I might carefully quickly slosh some soapy water into the base and empty straightaway and dry. A small price to have such 'commercially appearing' ground seeds.

Grinding me down – Neat compact design that sadly doesn't work too well with coffee beans. This is my second unit, the first one produced smoke from the start so I swapped it out for a new one and have been very careful not to overfill it. Five months on and once again, smoke has started issuing from the motor. Imho the problem appears to be oil from the beans… Read more

causing coffee to stick to the bottom of the grinder and the underside of the cutting blade. The extra load this places on the motor causes it to overheat as soon as any additional beans are ground. Let us know what you think Mr Breville.

Happy except ground coffee can get stuck on the bottom – Good sized hopper for coffee beans and the unit is easy to use. We find some ground coffee gets stuck on the bottom of the hopper under the level of the blades. What a shame in an otherwise good unit. It is a little bulky for a blade grinder and a bit noisy but these aren’t deal breakers.  Show details

Broke 1st time we used it – Purchased a few weeks ago and only went to use it this week to grind a small amount of spices- Star anise 2 peices and 3 teaspoons of mustard seed. Machine started and then basically disintergratted with cutting blade seperating from the container, smoking and plastic smell- now unusable. Hopefully the supplier Harvey Norman will replace when we can get back to town next week!  Show details
