My previous Bodum Bistro bought used many years ago was wearing out. Bought a new one online. It arrived the next day. Bodum very kindly refunded me the first purchase discount without fuss even though I fouled up the voucher claim. The machine is good quality, effective and durable.

Purchased in for $95.

Works great but design is flawed – I’ve had my grinder for a few years and only use it rarely for grinding spices. It works really well and I can’t fault it’s grinding ability. However I have always looked after it extremely well (cleaning it after every use, keeping it in the original box in a cool cupboard and only grinding ‘soft spices’ which is does very well) but it has recently developed hairline cracks all around the clear lid (which to be fair, dosnt effect it’s use as they are internal and haven’t come through to either side and the plastic it still smooth to touch on both sides). It has also become very sticky and tacky on the outside black Rubber (I presume?) casing, causing every bit of spice dust to stick to and and making it impossible to clean the outside of it. Even finger prints stick into it like Tar and it’s pretty gross to touch.

It’s a great product generally but I would hope the company in future uses a standard wipeable plastic for the outer casing and not rubber that perishes, becomes sticky and is impractical/impossible to clean.

Dear Mollie, Thank you for leaving a review for our Bistro blade grinder. The design has changed a few years ago and we no longer use the silicone outer. You can try and remove the stickiness with a bicarbonate soda and water mixture or you can purchase a product called "de-solv it" from Bunnings or eucalyptus oil from your chemist. Many thanks, Bodum Australia

EXCELLENT PRODUCT – I have used this version of the Bodum coffee grinder for many years and want a spare one. I note some people on different sites gave bad reviews based on their not understanding how to use the item or not reading the instructions. A bit like the tradesmen blaming their tools. You do not over-fill then complain about its efficiency, and another is someone complained about it being too full once ground, well you stamp it down before you take out what you grind. This machine is very simple. There is no way you can get it wrong. I really like it for its simplicity of use. I intend to try to source another of this model before it disappears. I am very happy with this brand. I would suggest people always read the instruction book of anything they purchase because often it is the user who is doing something really wrong, or they are not using their common sense. If I went by some of the reviews, I read on this product, I can see others may not buy it. I just want to right a wrong.

Purchased in at Myer for $80.

To Bodum Staff and Company, I thank you for your unexpected response. I stated a truth because some poor reviews I read in the past were clearly wrong & I think it unfair; it is not the operation of the product which is obviously the issue but the user. It is clearly common sense when using a product to not over fill it then complain about the operation. Then once ground simply tap it on the bench before emptying. I have other Bodum products and have never had any issues with any of them. The problem seems to be some people do not read or follow instructions or use their common sense. I hope others do not get put off purchasing products based on silly reviews. Yesterday, immediately I posted my review I went onto Ebay and purchased a new Black Bodum Coffee Grinder exactly like the one I still have operating very well and has not faltered in the many, many years I have had it. It is simply the best Coffee grinder on the market, and I should know I have tried others over the years. Thank you for manufacturing quality products, Liliana Karapas.
