Work done properly and perfectly. They manage to do the job fast yet secure. The last contractor did it so messy so we need to find someone to do the job! Show details
Good Protective product weather resistant – Great product designed for the queensland environment. I used various decking oils, stains and hybrids with limited success most lasting only a few months if heavily exposed to the sun and deteriorates quickly if there is humid weather. After seeing this producted used by councils and the environments that the wooden furniture is exposed to I went… Read more
on a hunt to get some. Found some at Wilson Timbers at 16 Davey Street Moorooka and got myself 20 litres thinking I would need it to cover my 50m2 deck. Being the lazy person I'm I hate oiling the deck so I coat the deck twice with tanacoat and seal with 2 coats of Bondall Monocel Gold Marine Clear Timber Varnish. Every 18 month or so I do a light sand and recoat the worn planks with Bondall Monocel Gold Marine Clear Timber Varnish. I have only had to completely strip/resand and coat the end plank once in 7 years doing this. The product does scratch and scuff with traffic and would require regular maintanance to look glossy but have been very weather resistant. Best used on smooth deck of 120-180 grit as rough timber required more/ thicker coats and were more susceptible to the elements cause the ends to chip and flake.
Best value for money stain and varnish – I wasn't really sure about this varnish, as I never used it before. I've been painting for 20 years and have to say I used jarrah stain on a staircase that hasn't been painted for 10 years. And the result was magic, one coat and this stair case turned out perfect I do wish I took a photo of the job. Show details
Amazing product from a frequent user – I own a Queenslander home and during renovations I've used so far approximately 20 odd litres of this product, its amazing. Any review to the contrary can only be fake, I will continue to use, no question about that. Ignore the haters :)
Such good product for price!! – Only bought this because it was cheap and aussie made, does a great finish and my wine barrell still has a great gloss being in the sun after 2 years. Highly recommended!!!! Show details

Monocel varnish is a good product – Can monocel clear varnish, ( spray can) be cut & polished.? Ive asked this question on Google but it seems that there's no answer to this simple question. Can monocel answer this question, or anyone else for that matter, William Prescott Show details
It has ruined a furniture. It's yellow and gloss finish! – After bunnings representative advice I have purchased this product and changed from the one I was using (which dryied clear) because it was supposed not to change colour to yellow. Be aware that if you apply this product on a light surface you will get a yellow and gloss finish. Show details
Great for outdoor rattan furniture – I tried to find the best varnish for rattan furniture and after much disappointment I met with the paint expert at Bunnings we discussed my needs and finally arrived with Boondall Monocel Gold exterior clear varnish satin finish best decision ever applied 4coats and could not believe the outcome looks better than new my wife is exstatic with the outcome Would highly recommend this product and best of all it is Australian made well done Show details
Our sunlight is tough – Used on an outdoor table (macrocarpa). Easy to use but only lasted 2 years before it started failing. Admittedly it was a slab cut from a big tree so it moved a bit as it continued to dry out but still disappointed. Yet to find a clear product that withstands our UV levels. Show details
Revitalise your backyard – Considered putting my 6 piece 20 year year old timber outdoor furniture on the footpath and replacing with trending new outdoor furniture. So glad I didn't. Took a bit of time ,but after rubbing back, staining and applying bondall Marine Grade SATIN clear Exterior wood varnish my outdoor setting looks great, and will probably outlast the modern day furniture i was going to replace it with. Well priced. Show details
Better than some more expensive brands – I found this product brushes out very well, doesn't tend to sag and settles into a very good gloss. Simply easy to apply, I have just used it over another brand applied months ago and found it to be in my opinion a superior product, at a cheaper price. Will be interesting to see how it stands the rigours of time. Show details
Excellent Marine varnish – A superb varnish! I have used it on a classic wooden yacht at Goolwa SA for 18 years! The application, finish and durability have been outstanding. Superb gloss! Some of the surfaces had 6 coats and are under a cover most of the time but have maintained excellent finish over 12 years or more. In full sun still 3 years. Mike. Show details

Great for outdoors and small tasks – I have tried, tested and been somewhat disappointed with other varnishes, even the supposedly best in the market varnishes (where you leave with a very light wallet) I make timber signs & garden ornaments regularly, I used to use other more known brands however the store did not have the gloss I normally get so I went for Monocel marine gold… Read more
instead as recommended by the shop assistant. a brand i have never heard of before so it was a risk but he guaranteed it'd be just as good.
I was expecting it to be the same or worse (given that its a couple of bucks cheaper) and was pleasantly surprised,
To start I had a little trouble getting it smooth and even over the surface but I called Monocel and she offered a few tips to make it easier and my task has gotten easier and easier since. So far it hasn't gone yellow or flaked off, its still just as beautiful as the day i put it out.
Problems? – When you apply this product. It is recommended to thin down the product for the first coat then lightly sand with 240 grit between each coat. 3 or 4 coats is recommended. Do NOT use any cleaning products to clean over the top of the product, use only water!, If you want something that you can use the cleaning products on, use the Monocel Int/Ext… Read more
Clear Varnish. They are very similar in product. Main difference is that one you can you product on and the other water only to clean. Hope this helped . Very Strong in durability 3-4 coats needed.
Great clear coat – I find it a little thick so use about 15% Penetrol with it & then it is very easy to use. Rolling on & then laying off with a fine brush will give a very good finish. I first used it 8 years ago on our camping kitchen & it still looks great today. Easy to use, fast drying & tough! Short open time..... penetrol helps greatly with this Show reply
