What magnificent Bank – I joined Customs Bank back in 1987, they were unbelievably good then and have not got worse, one easter holiday back in the early 90's an ATM swallowed my card and I was going to be without cash or card for the whole break. Out of desperation, I looked up one of the credit union's directors in the phone book, rang him at home and he miraculously sorted my problem out. More recently they have helped get home loans with super competitive rates, even when my LVR ratio was out of whack the referred me to another decent lender. The overdraft is a godsend. Staff are always friendly and the queue times on the help line are not horrible. I've been saved a number of times from scams by thier diligent fraud section. They have also been great at overcoming seemingly impossible problems when I was overseas. I had a lost phone, no PIN number for card and they still managed a way to get me much needed cash. I hate banks with the exception of ED credit union and Border Bank, they are simply far superior to any of the other established banks. If you are unfortunate enough to work for Home Affairs or lucky enough to be in the AFP then I can recommend Police Bank without hesitation.
Low rates, low annual fee simple product – Have been with them for at least five years now. Only really have the credit card and a low balance debit card/savings account that I keep . At the moment 10.76 rate for purchases and they have the same rate for cash advance. Definitely a small operation running this show, I have had some issues with incorrect details on card and a quick call to them and they sorted out a new replacement quickly. No frills card so don't expect flyer miles or any other reward system. Don't think there is many other cheaper rate cards around and the annual fee is only $30.
