Crack in water tank of a new product and horrible customer service – To make your life happier you may read my miserable story with Bosch. We wanted to buy a dishwasher for our new home. Sales guy recommended Bosch and specifically he said you should choose the model made in Germany, those models were expensive but they were MADE IN GERMANY. High quality mate! We bought what he said and what he recommended (later… Read more
from an online store), i.e. the SMS66JI01A model. And then the misfortune started.
The dishwasher never worked even once, even it was made in Germany by fabulous German fellas. The first time I tried run it it went on for 2 minutes then popped out a E15 error.
I called the supported, got a case number, got the repair work assigned to a local contractor, and waited, and waited, and waited. I called Bosch customer dep 3 times during a week. Every time they said they would contact with me soon. And they never did. Very amazingly, the contractor immediately called me after I gave them a bad review on Google. According to them Bosch gave them a wrong mobile number.
Anyway, I was kind of happy when the technician came to pull the dishwasher. Took him 10 minutes to find out that there is a crack in water tank. Yes, a crack happily lets water out like the customer support dep of Bosch let the customers away! I saw it. A brand new product has a crack inside the very essential part. Have no idea how this kind of fault pass quality check. Does Bosch has QA dep at all?
Then I started to call Bosch again to ask for exchange. And Bosch guy said no, WE HOLD THE RIGHT to repair it. And I said, what about my right? Do you think I do not deserve a functional product from Bosch? It is a brand new product while it never worked! Then the line was cut.
I called them the next day. This time Bosch said OK we gave you store credit, you could organize with the store to change some other product, but you had to pay for the difference. I was so depressed at that moment. It is the way Bosch dealing with its customers, kicking you here and there like a rubbish. After all these calls, waiting, now I had to deal with another very unwilling part of the whole issue, who would be another victim of Bosch's fault. That is enough, way too enough.
I said I did not want exchange now, please refund. On the other side of the phone Bosch said are you sure? It will takes weeks and weeks for refund. I said yes, please go ahead, take the dishwasher away and I will get Bosch out of my life.
I had bought 2 ovens, 1 cook top, 1 dishwasher, some power tools from Bosch. But I guess it is the end.
Dishwasher review – Impressive, love it; easy to use and runs very quiet. Easy to load and I am using the Auto wash setting. The dishes are sparkly clean. Would recommend purchasing this machine. I included a product care package; if I purchased again would not buy this care package. Show details · 2
Very Disappointed – I am very disappointed with this very expensive dishwasher, it's only 2 years and 4 months old, it already needs repairing ( heating pump ), it was made in Germany, not Turkey and Bosch wants nothing to do with problem. I will not waste my money on another Bosch appliance again. Show details

Love this German made dishwasher – Very quiet Love the clips inside that holdthe small lids and containers in place, so they don’t flip over and fill with dirty water. I use the 60 min program, washes everything well and keeps the inside smelling clean but does disfigure the thin plastic lids from yoghurt containers as it get very hot, but has never hurt any of my containers. was using ECO wash but the dishwasher started to smell as it just wasn’t getting hot enough to clean the dishwasher properly and it’s way to long at 3 hours.
It remains on the last program you use when you turn it back on again. Has a strip on the out side on the floor level to stop dirt getting under the machine. Love the inside as it’s so versatile with all the changes you can make. Filter is easy to clean. Timer so you know how long till the cycle is finished. I have nothing bad to say about this dishwasher and wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again.
Quiet Efficient Competent lil washer – Germade Series 6 had us sold. Does a good job pretty quietly. Happy after 9 months. Layout of upper basket - not quite right! Needs rethink as wastes space. Can't seem to lower it either tho front most cleanser block catcher is clever. Knive rack nice idea but not safest - all the lil Knives slide about tray when sliding top basket, esp. wobbly 4… Read more · 1
the big chefs/kitchen knife but nowhere great for it (maybe use Flaps on R side of upper Basket? dangers lurk) These Flaps R Mounted too low, so unable to fit standard cups or tumblers under them (prob 4 std wine goblet stems) = redundant washer area- dumb = much less room for mugs, larger tumblers and longer stem goblets! Unable to put larger plastic lids underneath them too! I prefer cutlery baskets to trays tho care needed c narrow teaspoon handles dropping through basket onto bottom propellor bits below, ouch! Middling price point at just under $1k Durability is undecided as yet.
Very Impressed – Very Quite, Dishes never wet when finished like old dishwasher. No Need to rinse dishes. Easy to operate, did I mention quite? Just trying to fill in 30 words now, seriously, wont be doing this again! Show details · 1
Worst dishwasher we ever had – Purchased the Bosch Series 6 about 2 months ago from the Good Guys and it has broken down twice since then. First time it broke down, it was because we got a E:20 error. The machine wouldn't start. So we had to remove a full load, wash the dishes by hand and call Bosch for a technician to come. Technician came 4 days later and replaced the… Read more
circulation pump which was faulty. After 1 week, the error E:20 started showing again. Each time, we set the dishwasher to start, there is 50-50 chance that the dishwasher will start, or it won't. Had to call Bosch, give them a piece of our mind. Technician is coming again tomorrow in the midst of all this COVID-19 pandemic. We asked for a new replacement, they gave a whole the excuse that the technician needs to write a report and in their words "Once in we will be able to assess, along with the report, and provide you with a resolution for the dishwasher." Will NEVER buy a Bosch every again!

Just buy it! – Had an old LG dishwasher which lasted 8 years. Looked at the reviews and decided on the Bosch series 6. It's now apparent that the old dishwasher has not been at its best for some time. This dishwasher is awesome, super quiet, can hardly tell it is on and does a perfect job of washing the dishes. With the old dishwasher we used to leave a gap… Read more · 1
between plates to ensure they were washed properly. Not needed on this one. Plastic smell for the first few washes (as reported on some other Bosch models) but that gets less with each wash and has gone. So far only had to use the quick 60 minute wash
Poor customer service experience – We purchased the machine 16 March 2019. It has worked fine up until the last week or so when it's been giving the E:24 error message, which the manual lists as the wastewater pump is blocked or the outlet hose is kinked. I followed the manual carefully and couldn't find a blockage or a kink. I called Customer Service (1300 369 744) and was told… Read more
that it could only be those two things and they would send me a video (The video only showed that I had done the right things and gave no more assistance).
I pressed a little further and got a fleeting, begrudging admission that it could possibly be that the pump had failed - but was assured that 9 times out of 10 it was a blockage. When I tried to follow up on the 1 in 10 possibility it may be that the pump had failed the person clammed up and just repeated that they would send me the video.
When I asked to speak to someone else about the tone of that response I was told in a very abrupt tone that everyone was very busy because it was Monday morning. Well, I'm busy too, and really don't appreciate being brushed off when I need to call about a $1,000 dishwasher after only 11 months.
I am expecting a call back - let's see whether that actually happens.
PS: Please don't give me the standard "call us on 1300 369 744". I've done that.
To my surprise, I did get a call back (very few companies ever do that these days) but the manager… Read more
Rubbish – Had this dishwasher a week and an error code appeared. Two visits from repairman confirmed leaking sump. New part ordered, installed today, then the power board failed. Paid more to buy "quality", hmmmmm. Paid more to purchase model assembled in Germany, evidently a waste of money. Just because it's assembled in Germany doesn't mean you get quality. Beware. Why I purchased this dishwasher! – I first started looking at the cheaper Bosch models and was put off by the comments regarding the plastic base cracking... hence I was determined to get one with a Stainless Steel Base. Second I wanted a stainless steel exterior as it better matched our wooden kitchen cabinets. Three it was "made in Germany". It was only then after much research… Read more
(which would have been made much easier if I had a simple chart of all Bosch models and their features... LATER found that a chart is in the Bosch Dishwasher Catalog... so, I suggest you ring Bosch for that). I was surprised to find that this model had the lowest water and energy usage of ALL 60cm models!! That's what sold me. I also decided I didn't need a cutlery draw (the knife rack and cutlery basket is all we needed... AND required less water and energy anyway). I also decided we didn't need a pre-rinse cycle (it wastes water and doesn't seem to be needed anyway even if the dishes are left for 2 or 3 days). Even though on "Auto Wash" this dishwasher takes a longer time than our old AEG, the dishes came out clean and dry. The only time they weren't clean was when I tried "Half Load"... but maybe I should have spread the dishes out more? Finally the ONE minor flaw is that we do a lot of Asian cooking and use deep rice bowls and the only place we could stack these is on the right hand side of the top rack... AND the collapsible spikes (or tines) would collapse, I only solved this problem by using a Bunning's cable tie ($1.20 for pack of 25) around the lock!! AND a Quick-Start Guide would have been good too!
I purchased this from Appliances Online (AOL) with a $140 discount (voucher)... they provided free delivery and took away the packaging and old dishwasher (and, because we asked very nicely, an old HEAVY portable a/c). Thanks Andrew. I installed the dishwasher myself, just be prepared to increase the size of the hole for the hoses due to a safety device fitted to the end of the cold water inlet AND remember that it may be a little higher (2mm) and require a bit of timber to be cut in your bench top (installers may charge you extra for this). I don't expected it to last 20 years like our old AEG dishwasher, but it looks better and does do a better job of cleaning the dishes AND saves us water and energy. Thanks also to Bosch for the $100 worth of Finish dishwasher products that should last us for 12 months or more (together with the tablets we already had).
p.s. It took my wife a long time to "like" this unit... after all we didn't need to change as the old AEG was still working! She says she doesn't like the change in stacking the dishes BUT likes the fact that it cleans better without stains. One problem we had was because we only do a wash every 3..4 days is that the unit would "smell"... installing a Finish "fresher" solved that problem (provided in the package we received). I have noticed that when you open the dishwasher immediately after a wash that a large cloud of steam doesn't fill the kitchen.... an indication that this Bosch dishwasher doesn't use as much water and energy as our old unit!
Would be excellent if it dried all the dishes! – Purchased this dishwasher to replace a 10 year old Bosch machine that had performed well but had eventually stopped working. After research decided we wanted a Bosch dishwasher made in Germany, like our old machine was, rather than Turkey in the hope we get the same years of use from it. We also wanted a model with a stainless steel bottom after… Read more
reading a review that a fallen knife pierced the plastic(?) and caused a leak for one customer. We are happy how this model cleans but not how it dries items in the top basket - you still need to towel dry all plastics and the tops of mugs. which we didn't have to do with our old Bosch dishwasher. Why have an "Extra Dry" button if it doesn't do anything? Yes, I always use Rinse Aid. One other thing to note is that it doesn't always clean the inside of bowls stacked on the bottom rack, even when I leave a gap between them. These are standard coupe bowls, not deep. The other thing I don't like is the flimsy folding plastic piece that holds knives in place on the knife tray - doesn't look like it's going to last very long. Hopefully we'll get a decade of use out of this machine as we did our previous one. Now if only it dried all the dishes!
My First Dishwasher – I have seen other dishwasher in different homes--noise and style has been in my checklist. This dishwasher was surprisingly quiet that you wont even notice it is doing its job. The glossy finish with simple design also fits my kitchen plan. The price is also reasonable given the reliability of the brand. Self-installed.. easy as 123. Show details

Know better, choose better.
So quiet and efficient. Should have bought this sooner! – Installed on 4 July 2019 just in time for overseas visitors so perfectly timed to put this dishwasher through its paces. The fold down spikes in the upper and lower baskets makes placement of larger dishes or pans easier while the adjustable upper basket can be raised or lowered to give more space in either basket. There's a handy knife rack too.… Read more · 1
Have only used auto, eco, half wash, 60 and 30 minute quick wash programs so far but intend to test the speed wash and extra dry features soon. No need to prerinse, just scrape off food residue and stack. Dishes come out beautifully clean on the programs used. Found that water tends to pool on the base of cups and glasses with indentations but this is probably common for most dishwashers. The half wash program for small loads takes almost as long as a full wash so I mainly go with the short 30 minute wash in this case. The delay start feature is really useful for timing washing in off-peak hours and, of course, an essential child lock to prevent accidents. Washer comes with a spray head attachment for cleaning oven grilles and baking sheets and two nifty plastic hooks to attach to small plastic items to keep them in place. Have had no need to use either but still useful. Machine is so quiet that sometimes I have to check it's actually working. Pros: Adjustable upper basket Fold down spikes Quiet operation Cleans dishes really well Exterior easily cleaned of fingerprints Cons: Curvature of front door means it doesn't sit flush with cabinets.
Great quiet dishwasher – Great dishwasher, replacing old Bosch 8 years, this one is almost the same but much quieter The controls are a bit more complicated, because it has more options available, I especially like the extra dry feature, it adds 10 minutes to the cycle but the dishes come out much dryer Show details · 1
Better than I expected! – Fantastic mid range priced dishwasher that is very quiet. I love the speed perfect option and the ability to move the utensil basket anywhere along the bottom. Although I rinse before placing in dishwasher it cleans dishes beautifully even when they have caked on food (pasta bakes and lasagne dishes). We had an issue with an error message after… Read more · 1
a couple of weeks (water in bottom of dishwasher had set off the sensor and it wouldn't work), but hubby googled the message and was able to fix it immediately.
SO QUIET – This is a great dishwasher. The first time I tested it, it so quiet I had to put my ear to it to check it was working. Cleans dishes well has lots of different options, looks nice, what more do you want. Show details · 1
I am a bit disappointed – My old Bosch dishwasher of 9 yrs needed repairing and decided I wanted a new one. After reading the good reviews on this model I decided to buy one. Yes it is quite but was disappointed that it left tea stains in the cups. I was using the recommended tablets and the 60 min quick wash. It also had a horrible smell when I took all the packaging… Read more

More than I expected – We just bought the Bosch Series 6 SMS66JI01A. Absolutely love everything about it. Quality, efficiency & look all superseeded my expectations. It's so silent so we keep checking whether it's working or not. Even the plastic stuff comes out dry, which I've never had happen with other dishwashers. The top rack can be height adjusted for taller glassses, has cool little clips to clip smaller items into & a handy larger knife rack on top shelf & my favourite is the machine care function. Haven't tested out the other functions yet & haven't found any cons so far. With 11L per wash cyle & 220kw usage per year based on 365 washes, it's by far one one of the most eco efficient products on the market.
Not what I was told it would do – I've just purchased a $1200 Bosch dishwasher. I was told by the sales staff I would not be able to hear the machine while it was in operation as they have one in the staff room and they don't even know its running. Also on the front of the dishwasher it clearly states Super Silent 44dB. I can assure you it is much louder than 44dB (I've checked… Read more
it) and I can hear it. Bosch have said perhaps if it was full I wouldn't hear it. Maybe, but that's not what it says on the front of the machine. Could have purchased another dishwasher for around $500 for the same result. Guess I'm like a lot of other people and couldn't be bothered going through the process of having it replaced.

Great dishwasher – It has a quality feel you expect from the price tag. Does a good job washing the dishes, quiet and the internal design allows for much more dishes than our previous dishwasher. It might cost more than some of the others but in my opinion it worth the extra. It should last longer than a $400 one and with its 5 and 4 star water and energy rating it might save the extra $$$ you spent on it. Show details · 1
Good wash, a little noisier in 60 min wash setting – This is my first Bosch dishwasher, and it's been a while since I've owned a dishwasher, so I decided to go for the German-made Series 6 instead of the cheaper series. It was easy to install myself, and easy to use. I appreciate that it turns on with your previous settings instead of defaulting to something else each time, and I like all the rack… Read more · 1
adjustments possible, including the three-level top rack. Everything appears to be built well, and the only slight annoyance I've had so far is how easily the bottom basket can roll past and off its track when pulled out - more an issue when empty than when heavy.
Wash quality is great, you just have to follow the instructions and tips on how to place/angle stuff for best wash and dry effect. Plastics don't dry well, but metal and glass is fine - this is common to all dishwashers I think.
The only way to get the claimed 220kWh low power per wash is to use the 3 hour Eco wash mode. I suspect this is also the quietest wash mode, as most other modes will use stronger sprays etc. In the 60 minute wash, some parts of the cycle do make noises you would definitely notice if in the same room, but not enough to interrupt a quiet conversation. Super wash would probably make a little more noise but we've not needed it yet.
So far so good with this dishwasher. I've got no good reason to rate it less than five stars after three weeks of use, but will update this review if anything changes.
