Washing Machine Worth Your Money – I'm reviewing this without reward. We had the machine for a few years yet and it seems working great in general. It just needs maintenance cleaning to keep it from some odour occurrence. ~Generally I wash clothes in mixed if they are not all whites. ~Wash woollen clothes and throw rugs using the wool cycle setting. ~Delicates are in great care so… Read more · 1
far. ~Only the "Express setting" of 15 minutes that you need to use a "Spin setting" for 8 minutes extra to squeeze if the washed clothes are still wet than normal cycle results. ~Only the spin setting is noisy, noisy enough to wake up someone light sleeper.
Nice when it worked – This washer had water and power saving features. Unfortunately Bosch don't build longevity into their machines. The drum bracket has completely corroded and shattered after 7 years leaving the washer inoperable. I guess they want you to buy a new one regularly or now that they are made in Thailand the German quality has gone out the door over profit. Show details

Was a good machine – We bought a Bosch Maxx Classic WAE 18061AU 6.5kg load 12 or 14 years ago so it lasted us at least 12 years, doing between 2 and 4 loads per week, mainly on 40 and 60 degr C. I did an empty 90 degree wash with a bit of cleaning vinegar once every 4-6 months at least, left door open after washing to let machine dry and cleaned the seal regularly.… Read more · 1
Was happy with it as it was simple to use and spinning of 900rpm was sufficient for us. No problems at all until recently when grinding noises started when spinning and then really loud. During the last wash a heap of fine material the size of sand but softer came out with the rinse water, it looked like disintegrated plastic. As the machine is older we decided to replace with another Bosch instead, one with the lowest spin speed and capacity, instead of getting repaired. Maybe we overloaded? The micro fleece throws and towels soak up a lot of water in the machine and get heavy when wet. Got the phone advice from a repairer that the outer bowl might be disintegrating because of cold water washing. I have not heard that before.
Probably got 13 years of trouble free use before the inlet valve failed – I am pretty happy with this machine. It has done 1-2 loads per week since I bought it, which I am guessing was sometime in 2007. Its never been abused with loads that are too heavy, always made sure to use different load configs to stop the dial wearing out etc. I've moved house twice, every time it had the transport bolts put in prior to the… Read more · 1
moves and been levelled properly after. Just this week the inlet valve died, thankfully it broke before any water went in for the new load. My last washer was a Simpson top loader, and that didn't last anywhere near as long before the inlet valves played up, and I ended up replacing those inlet valves multiple times over the life of the machine. My father owned a washing machine repair business when I was growing up, so I can often avoid paying a service fee and just buy the part to install myself, and inlet valves were normally a $30 fix.
Regarding the transport bolts, they're a pain to put in, unless done in exactly the right order. Its not an everyday problem, but 1) given that people who are moving house are normally very pushed for time and 2) they don't move house often enough to remember what they did last time, its a small detail that can ramp up frustration levels and easily cause an hour's delay, which isn't great when you're paying an hourly rate for removalists.
Design Fault - Drum spider – Looks like we've suffered the same fault as everyone else. Prior to failure was pretty fast at washing albeit rinses weren't that good. I completely understand and accept wear and tear on products. With a washing machine, if it doesn't fail in the first few months, then after 8 years you might expect to see issues such as pumps, motor… Read more
brushes, bearings, hinges, locks, switches etc.
However you don't expect the structure/chassis to fail. Suffering the same issue that is occurring to many of this model. Failed spider, causing the drum to become unstable. Thin strips of plastic from the front are chewed off by the inner drum and found amongst the washing and in the filter. Also starts tripping the circuit if you have a safety switch installed.
Fortunately I've got an LG in storage. Love Bosch drills and hardware but their whitegoods are really poorly designed now. Had a fridge freezer with issues common to many users and now a washing machine that has failed identically to users.
Wonder if there is a way for product review to tally up the failure modes of white goods to help start class action suits?

Pretty good washing machine It lasted 10 years before breaking Show details
We've had this machine for 13 years and counting. Its gone through a LOT of heavy use with our family of 5, and not so much as a hiccup. Great build quality, and gets clothes clean. The only frustrating thing is occasionally on the quick wash, the spin isnt very effective (especially with a smaller load), but a respin usually sorts it out. Inconvenient, yes. Deal breaker, np Show details
It's now been 20 years since I got this machine and somehow it works like brand new, I use it on warm washes often and it gets stains out really REALLY good. The brushes have been replaced in the machine as it stopped spinning during its wash (I thought the board died but I was wrong) and I'm now planning to keep this for another 10 years. Bosch you'll always be top tier! Show details
Amazing longevity – So bought this machine back in 2008 and we have had all these years of trouble free washing. I have had a similar problem to many on here that it has started to throw the safety switch on the second water intake. I am currently waiting for a repairman to come and quote. Regardless of the cost of repair I will be keeping the machine as many of the… Read more
reviews I have read about newer models lean toward built in obsolescence. This was built at a time when Bosch were leaders in the game. To all those people who have just dumped this washer and bought a new one....how's that working out for you? My suggestion is to fix at all costs because you will get another 14 years quality service out of it. I will update after the quote. From Australia
Good, and it's from Taiwan – 16 years old. Starting to get a bit noisy. Washed work and farm clothes using untreated tank water. Don't think my next one will last longer Show details · 1
Another tilted drum rubbing on the seal. Smokin!! – Was a great machine until it suffered same fate as the rest of them. Presumably a broken spider arm causing drum to sit forward and rub on front seal (as one causes the other). Large bang sound then noisy cycle. Drum making a squeaking noise each turn even once off and empty. Uneven gaps in front between drum and seal. Eventually started smoking… Read more
when it was running. The drum was rubbing on the outer seal as it smelled like rubber and there was black marks where the rubber was stuck onto the drum.
Hunted down a video to understand what the spider arm inside was doing;

Made in Thailand. Had 6 years out of it. Worth gambling on a German made one? (Edit - I have, will review.) Definitely wouldn’t go Thailand or Chinese made.
Really reliable excellent product – Really reliable excellent product. Owned since new, used frequently for at least 18 years. Newer models have some additional features such as being able to add items to wash after commencement. Much more gentle on clothes than a top loader. Only rare problems were with coins etc but the process to get them out of the system is well documented in the manual. Show details · 1
What a great machine!! – I got this bosh when I first moved out of home at 21 … 1 -2 washes a week for the last 19 + years … and it finally did its last wash today 27/12/2021 . Will be buying another Bosh ! Show details · 1

Tripping out Boch washer Maxx EuroWasher WAE24271AU – I Bought this second hand and it lasted only a few months, suddenly it keeps tripping when water activated. Washed only several towels and holiday clothes using rain water and light loads. Nothing visible as to why it is tripping and earth wire intact Show details

Disappointed – Like others here, I'd expected this machine to last longer. I've replaced the main board, motor brushes, entire motor, shock absorbers, fixed the door lock etc. Have spent many hours and $ on it. Just bought a different brand.

Great, long lasting product – Have had this product for many years. It still works like it did the first use. Clothes are always clean and love that when we leave tissues in the pockets it doesn't wash it into all the clothes! Trusty product and still going strong! Show details · 1
Replaced after 18 years of service – After 18 years of virtually problem free service, we've just replaced our Bosch MAXX Classic, or the WFL2000. I had to replace the carbon brushes twice in it's life time which was a relatively simple job, but otherwise it never missed a beat. It finally developed a more major problem where the motor start making some bad noises, was not… Read more · 1
spinning the drum correctly (powering up and down) and sounded like it was rubbing/grinding on something, and started to smell like electrically burning and tripped the earth leakage breaker twice in the house. I could have looked at repairing it again, but after 18 years it was time for an upgrade. Upgraded to a WAW28420AU. The WFL2000 was a great basic washer
Advice needed – Good washing machine but don't have the bolt required for us to move house interstate. We are having extreme difficulties finding where I can purchase the bolt to ensure drum will not deteriorate. Show details · 1
Perfect Machine – I have had this machine since 2006.. it still works a treat. I am looking at getting another Bosch as they simply care about their product is made. Regardless of Country of Manufacturer, they do the job and do the job well. I just also picked aBosch BCS122GB cordless vacuum. Love the brand. Show details · 2
11 good years, maybe 12 – Same as most of the reviews I’ve just read, I had this for 11 years with not one problem ever. Just started shorting the power recently and I just bought an Electrolux... hoping I won’t regret it!! Not much point reviewing a discontinued item but I only just realized how impressed I was when it finally carked it! Show details

Another broken spider on front loader – Had this for four years, not a huge amount of work. Did a reasonable job until it started making a rattling sound and blew the fuse. Took it apart and found broken spider, the casing was cracked and shattered in several places. Replacement too expensive. I bought Bosch for its reliability and long life but sadly another example of built in obsolescence. Won't buy another. Show details
Good while it lasted - expensive to fix – The technician took over a week to come out to evaluate a non responsive washing machine I've had for around 7 years. I received a quote totaling over $500 including labour to fix a broken motor which is excessive for a 6.5kg clothes washing machine as I could buy a brand new one for the same price. I was also told the machine was manufactured… Read more
sometime in 2008 and not covered by any parts warranty as a result? Call out fee was $110. No issue with the customer service I received, I just expected a lot more from a 7 year old washing machine and a lot less in cost to fix it.
Bosch Maxx Classic another DRUM SPIDER BROKEN – Bosch a large company that have failed to recall a VERY COMMON PROBLEM with their FRONT LOADER WASHING MACHINES, broken spider drum. I phoned Bosch and spoke to a representative and the price of the part was $356 + $51 postage. They would not comment on the fault or help in any way, I will never buy a Bosch again like many others Show details
Inferior design and materials used – Cheaper manufacture to cut production costs lead to Inferior parts not hardy enough to withstand normal washing machine stresses being used that fail.Oh yes to all those that say how good the machine is I agree ,well I did, as it works fine until the spider brakes.Which is the major flaw with this machine. To the user that suggested class action I… Read more

Terrific and faithful machine! – We have owned ours for 19 years and it has been completely reliable. We have only had to have one repair (new brushes) but otherwise it has been run with a family sized load pretty much every day. It is now going to be retired for a newer model but we are replacing it with a similar Bosch. Terrific and faithful machine! Show details · 1
Excellent machine. Water saver – Great machine. Excellent water saver. Washes better than a top loader. Takes a little time for the cycle but none the less excellent results. 900 RPM spin ensures the clothes dry quickly. Easy clean and quite a robust machine. Show details · 2
Legend of a machine – Bought this washer 10+ years ago when single, moved it three times, had a family, then smashed it with continuous use for last four years....it's still going strong! I think the secret to longevity is always use a long spirit level to perfectly balance to reduce vibrations, as I have each time we moved it. If and when it finally crashes...I'd just buy another. Bosch Quality – We bought this front loader in 2005, and it hasn't let us down with the exception of having to replace the door seal after 12 years. Only issue we have had is some stains appearing on clothes, but after investigating this, we identified that it was the residue from fabric softener around the drum, and in the hoses/sump. out and many hot washes with cleaning solution, the stains have not reappeared. we no longer use fabric softener in the machine and don't recommend anyone else using fabric softener in their front loader either.
Failed Spider – As above our machine siezed after a violent noise. Following Youtube repair service instructions I stripped it down to find a chunk of the diecaste spider had broken away and jammed the drum. Not only that but each of the 3 arms of the spider sported well worn cracks across each. Not good Bosch! Speaking with a design engineer he stated that… Read more
diecaste metel should not be use where subject to stress and vibration. How much more stress can a front loading washing tub deliver? I would say fits "not fit for purpose" under consumer law. Bosch spares were able to supply a new spider but only attached to a drum for $232 plus $18 plus postage for a new tub seal.
Top notch from Bosch! :) – Had my machine since 2010 & it hasn't had a thing go wrong, even if I have occasionally forgotten to put the base plug back before starting a wash occasionally (face palm)… I can do a full load of sheets & towels on Cottons at 1000 rpm, immediately followed by my work clothes on Intensive, followed by civvies on Mixed Load... No issue... 3 loads, 3 different programs, doesn't miss a trick... Awesome :) Show details · 1
Catastrophic failure of drum Spider rendering repair unviable – This machine worked seamlessly for 7 years & then suffered a catastrophic failure of the spider support due to galvanic corrosion of the diecast part. This should not happen in a quality machine & could easily have been alleviated by the incorporation of a sacrificial anode costing perhaps $5.00 & instructions for the user to dissolve wash powder… Read more
in water before use & also to use a hotwash at least once a month. As an engineer I am annoyed that such a potentially good machine & a company reputation can be sabotaged by poor quality control. I suspect the company allows the defective part to be used as when it fails after some years the repair cost is non viable & the owner will buy a new one. I guess thats what I will do but the new one wont be a Bosch.

Never missed a beat – We have had our wae22460 for 11 years now It has done many loads, been moved several times , easy to operate, gentle on clothes, great energy ratings, good range of cycles and easy to adjust spin speeds etc It died today, won’t go around anymore Off to buy another Bosch tomorrow Show details · 1
Super Reliable. Never had an issue – This washing machine has been my best friend for the last 10 years. It's so reliable and washes the clothes to perfection. There are many settings to choose from and it even takes care of the most delicate clothes just as well as a really expensive machine. Too bad it doesn't have a dryer aswell otherwise I think I'd be in love!!! Show details · 1
