Got this 4.5 years ago with new house...Promising cooktop with Bad design issues! – We bought it thinking we will get a good German product out of this. Firstly, it was built with cheap quality products since one of its knobs actually had a melting issue...then every now n then liquids would spill and the burners n ignition would give us trouble. But yesterday, it just failed on us for good. Unfortunately there was a spillage of… Read more

a liquid which must have crept in the circuitry! And now the ignitions keep sparking without us pressing any button. So switched off the gas and the electrical power as there is clearly a short-circuit which is dangerous. Got a technician, he tried fixing it, drying it, but then suggested after failing to succeed, that to repair the unit it maybe almost all up a $1000 incl parts and labor n call out fees etc. Sad, i thought Bosch was a better brand than that. Will never again spend on this brand! Am disheartened, i could have spent less n gotten Westinghouse which would have lasted me 5 years too.

Another ignition failure – We purchased a Bosch PCT915B9TA 6 burner gas cooktop in late 2013. Two years later, one burner eventually failed to ignite altogether. I posted the fault on this forum, and Bosch got in touch and eventually had the thermocouple for this burner replaced. When the technician came the first time, I pointed out that the burner beside it was… Read more

intermittently failing to light in a reasonable time. He scoffed at the suggestion, saying that we should press the knob for up to 20 sec for a burner to light. This burner now takes up to 5 minutes to light and stay alight. If the flame is turned down a bit, the burner eventually goes out altogether. A second thermocouple problem it seems.....

This Spanish-made model has previously received criticism on these and other pages and has now failed twice in our experience. Every manufacturer occasionally releases a bad product and this must have been Bosch's turn. I am now in a quandary as to whether I should toss this appliance (that cost about $1456) out and buy something else, or to somehow persevere with it.

Other Bosch products we have purchased, including an HBG6753.1A oven have proved functional and reliable.

This gas burner somehow did not go through any quality control process that Bosch presumably apply to their other products. It is just as well that this one is now discontinued.

The design error of the middle control knob – Every time when I want to turn off the wok burner, I feel the knob (the one in the middle) is too hot to touch. It's because the connection cast iron frame down the bottom and wok support cast iron is too close to the knob, its heated as well when you cooking, I believe it's a design error.  Show details

Had this a year and love it! – We purchased this in Feb 2016, to replace an electric cooktop. I used this site to research it then went ahead. Could not be happier with it. Easy to fine tune the heat, varied burner sizes give options, wok is fantastic - plenty of heat and easy to control. The way the little wok jet stays on full when the big one fires up is absolutely… Read more ·  1

fine. We bought a new, heavy wok and now use it often with zero problem. However a very thin wok may have an issue with the little jet being on full. True the far L and far R knobs can get quite warm, you just need to be careful. It cleans easily, but you do need to be careful not to scratch it. After 14 months ours looks like new. And the price is relatively low, making it excellent value. Recommended!

Massive cooktop, love it!! – We have just bought this cook top upgraded from a 600mm its truely massive and im in love with the space. It heats up very quickly and its very easy to clean. The knobs feel and look great. The only problem i have found although its very minor is that when you light the stove you need to hold in the knobs for about 5 secs to light if you let go… Read more ·  1

sooner then you will have to do it again. But as i said very minor, i would highly recommend to others

west of money – i just build a house and i loaded with Bosch appliances thinking they would be the best in the market, and man i am disappointed. in less than 3 month of use the writing on the stove have disappeared and the knobs they get so hot that one of them melted. what made things worst is Bosch think that this is not a warranty issue and refuse to fix it. i believe there is a major fault in the design and Bosch dos not want to admit it.  Show details

Bosch produts does not meet Australian warranty under Competition and Consumer Act 2010 – We recently bought a number of Bosch appliances to install in our new renovated kitchen. Bosch cooktop was faulty straight out of the box. First, the center burner has faulty switch which means it does not stay on. Secondly, the stainless steel base is not flat hence it does not sit flush with the stone bench top. When we rang Bosch there response… Read more

is all our products are checked for quality control before being packed in the factory. This is a marketing lie. If that was the case then this cook top would never had passed for shipment.

We have been waiting for a week now for their authorised repairer to call to inspect the cook top for repair. I advised them that this is a faulty product straight out of the box, we want it replaced. To which their response was that is not our standard practice. They will only replace it if can't be repaired and does not matter whether the cook top base is buckled. As it is a new unit we have not used the cook top and have been eating from takeaway shops with two young children. Do you think Bosch Australia cares about their customer. The short answer is absolutely NO.

Please don't buy Bosch products as they are no longer their true German quality and precision. Also Bosch Australia breaches Australian Competition and Consumer Act 2010 by not replacing faulty shipped product and has no proper Australian based customer service network.

Bing Lee Blacktown where we purchased these products was not much use. They don't have customer relationship management (CRM) practice. By contrast Harvey Norman in my previous purchase experience replaced the faulty appliance without the need to go through appliance manufacturer. It pays to shop in Harvey Norman.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY – I purchased this cook top over 12 months ago. First the burner caps began to break off. The stainless steel scratches just with cleaning it with a wet cloth. I had my old burner for 17 years and the new Bosch looks in worse condition than the one I replaced Called the customer service who is based in UK and after many phone calls and seven months still no repair. Don't buy anything from this company product -10 and service -10.

Excellent very happy with the performance and the price – Just installed after having had a Miele gas top for 14 years. It compares very favourably, and has a much more powerful wok burner, which is good as the Miele wasn't really hot enough. You can also cook effectively at very low temperatures for sauces or rice. Looks nice, cleans easily (we use Enjo fibres - they have a stainless steel polishing cloth). So far happy with our purchase.  Show reply

works great however – I renovated my kitchen last year and replaced all oven, cooktop and rangehood with Bosch. The cooktop works great, all burners are effective and the safety auto switch off is a must for those with young kids. There are 2 problem I notice. One is the design and the other is the material quality. the design is mainly problems with the control… Read more ·  4

nobs. They are way too close to the burners particularly the wok burner, when in use, if i use the full flame, the heat from the burner actually heats up the control nob to the point it is too hot to touch! Even if I turn the burner is down to half flame, the nob still gets heat up. The control nobs are simply too close to the burner. I am surprise the nobs have melted yet after 1 year of full usage (I cook every day)

the other problem is the burner cap material. Just 1 year of usage, the edge of all burner caps (the non stick material) are chipping off. Started to notice that when I clean the cooktop one day and some black metal coming off the burner caps and it is now getting worse. The edge is not smooth anymore and now I have to be very careful cleaning them. The wok burner outer burner cap in particular suffers the worse, probably because I used that the most.

I tried to google around for replacement parts but could not find any. I know the cooktop is still under warranty but not sure if this is covered.

Excellent- Highly Recommended – Bought and installed a fortnight ago. Overpowering dual woks; with 4 variation settings. Well designed- good space to cook multiple dishes. Use to mainly cook heavy dishes- multiple curries and fry dishes on each occasion. Woks functions' perfectly. Were negotiating between smeg PGA96 (also dual work) and Bosch Gas Cooktop PCT915B91A. Choose… Read more ·  1

Bosh because the woks were more powerful and opted for their cooktop knob design.

Do not hesitate if in market for this cooktop. An effective piece.

It is the worst cooktop I ever had!! – The two wok burners only work on high flame and on low flame the centre (small) element of wok burner work on max so the food such as egg or pancake or similar would get. burn from the centre and stay raw from the edge, if you keep the flame high the wok then starts but then you cannot control the centre element and it is on full flame and so the… Read more

food gets burn from centre and just cooks from the edge , it is the worst cooktop I had and now it is hard to replace as it is cut fit into stone bench top

New Gas Cooktop – Installed today. I'll update over a period of time. We had installed a Westinghouse gas cooktop during out kitchen renovation about 12 years ago. It has worked faultlessly for all that time. Recently it developed a gas leak from the top right hand side burner - the most used on the cooktop. Enquiries from repair people were that it was not… Read more ·  1

worth repairing, so off we went to get a new one.

The existing cooktop is white. White is not in fashion and are very hard to find in a 900mm wide cooktop. It was down to stainless or black. After much research, many visits to local shops and questions to anyone I thought had a valid opinion it came back to stainless steel. The existing hole dictated the size of the replacement.

We looked at all the brands with prices varying from mid $400's to $3500. Nothing much to provide guidance on why the $3500 model was any better than the cheaper model. Finally a reputed repair/installer of gas appliances told me about a Siemens unit. It came in at $1500. When we checked it out it looked very similar to a Bosch unit we had seen at Harvey Norman during our shopping research. A call to the installer confirmed that Siemens now own Bosch and the two units were almost identical. The differences were minor - slightly different trivets, different control knobs and a black gas cover under the knobs. It was also $450 cheaper.

We bought it at a sale from Harvey Norman for $1050. Our installer came today to installed it. It looks quite smart and it runs much better than the old unit. It heats much quicker and the spacing of the burners seems to be good. The centre higher power burner has two rings of flame. The controller starts at high power with the inner and outer rings at max heat. Rotating the controller reduces the outer but maintains the inner. Eventually the outer burner turns off and then the controller reduces the centre. All the burner controller are smooth and gradually reduce the flame. We have been advised that generally only use mild soap and water to clean the unit and to clean up spills and splashes as soon as possible. Stubborn stains should be soaked in water until soft enough to be wiped away. A good stainless steel cleaner for the tough stones. We'll see.

The install seemed to be painless with only the hole needing a little enlarging. Install took about 1 1/2 ours.

While finalising his checks the installer informed us that as the centre burner was at 18Mj (very powerful??) it required 650mm minimum above the burner. Our extractor sits at 540mm - I now have to take 110mm off the bottom of the cupboard and remount the extractor and we have to get two new cupboard doors. Not a great bother but unexpected, the unit cannot be signed off until the changes are made. Good price, looks good, heats quickly, smooth operation. Can't blame the unit because the cupboard need moving but so far thats all I have.

Best wok burner – We moved into our new house and was looking for a new gas stove. We don't want to spend an exorbitant amount but 2 key criteria are wok burner and 90 cm wide. This Bosch fits the bill. We chose the Bosch as it's wok burner is rated at 18 MJ. Our older Westinghouse was rated to 14.4Mj. Well, what can I say, this wok burner is much more powerful… Read more ·  1

than most and as we are ethnic chinese, we stir fry a lot and there us no other way to cook beautiful food than having a lot of heat. The wok burner is serviced by 2 jets instead of the usual single jet and that probably explained why.

The bonus is that the stainless steel is easy to keep clean without water mark. So overall very happy with purchase and I believe this item us manufactured in Spain. Great quality. I have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone that need wok cooking. Now looking for a rangehood that can suck up all the steam and oil. :-) Wok burner . The best If I have to be picky, control knob is plastic not metal on this model.
