Bosch Home Appliances Serie 4 Front Load Washing Machines

Very Disappointed – We have a Bosch dishwasher and are more than happy with it. On this basis we bought this Bosch washing machine. What a disappointment! Specifically - towels come out of the machine stringy instead of fluffy and when dry are like sandpaper - clothes generally come out wetter than our old top loader and take longer to dry to the line - the machine is advertised as 7.5 kg but only 3 of the 11 programs have this as the maximum load the others being much less - we received conflicting advice about the problem with the towels. Over the phone we were told to increase the water temperature to 90 DegC whereas the technician who visited said not to go above 40 DegC. - some of the cycle times seem excessive. We have never expected a load of washing to take 3 hours to process Overall we are not happy customers
Purchased in for $716.
A very quiet and compact front loader – Had to replace my old washing machine (another brand) after 10 years. When I did my research, Bosch always came out in the top three in all the comparisons and reviews. Plus three of my friends who does daily washings for their young children also have Bosch as well. This front loader is extremely quiet. I could only run my old one in the middle of the day so it will not disturb the neighbours. But I can run this one even at midnight. Initially, I had to keep checking to see if it is still working because it is that quiet. And very stable with little vibration. It comes with a lot of programs to suit almost all types of washing. Clothes come out cleaned and no residue or foam.
The one thing it can improve on is the user manual. It doesn't talk about each of the programs and how they are used. I'm particularly looking for the default washing temperature, spin rpm, and most importantly, the capacity limit for each program which is not available in the manual. Also, one annoying thing I've found is that when you accidentally bumped the dial during a program, it will stop the current program with no way to resume it.
But otherwise, it is a quality build and performs very well.

The worst washing machine we ever had. Full of useless electronics. I want only wash the clothes properly, but this machine is far from that. 9 from 10 occasions, the clothes come out soaking wet and full of detergent. Following the useless troubleshoot like clean pump, filter etc, (which has no any connection for spinning cycle) is useless. The… Read more
sensor is too sensitive. People need washing machine, not a full sensor useless box with a motor, which no company would ever understand. As soon as i hack this machine, i will share with the world how to override the sensors. Stay tuned.
Horrible washing machine. No matter how much load is in the washer, it does not spin, the efficiency rating is bad for the price, it is noisy, the door closure mechanism is seriously a joke and the washing results are average at best. Totally regret buying this machine and will definitely not buy Bosh ever again. Show details
I made a big mistake buying euro – Not impressed, didn't think there was a carry over from Euro Cars to Euro appliances but here we are. The rubber seal that keeps the water in has disintegrated in one spot at the bottom and is leaking water 1 year after the puny 2 year warranty expired. To buy the replacement seal on their site is north of $100 and who knows how long it would… Read more
take to turn up. I've picked up well used junk washing machines in the past that have all lasted 5 or more years so this is disgusting.
Lesson learned, try to look fancy with euro stuff and pay out the nose and end up looking like the idiot I am for buying it.
Edit: adding some photos of some of the corrosion in this POS trash when I changed the seal with an aftermarket seal. One is rusting frame and the other is the rusty retaining ring for the seal on a 2 year old machine.
This is why you don't see the VW golf on the road much any more compared to a few years ago when we were inundated with German crap.

Very quiet & easy to use – Running so quiet & very easy to use, my 70-year old mom loves it so much. What a very clever design of holes on the rubber seal to lose the drain to avoid mold. Maybe my socket is too high, the wire is not long enough to me. Show details · 1
Best washing machine I've owned – I bought this brand new and am very satisfied with my choice. I've only heard good things from Bosch products owned by friends and family. The overall quality is good. It was easy to install and very easy to use. Show details · 1

R.I.Pieces – R.I.Pieces Simpson 175 top loader after 31 years (9/1989). In comes the Bosch 7.5 front loader - June 2020. Here my brain cells had to adjust to a different style of laundering; child locks, open and closing a lid to using a door, hot water consumption, weight loads, soaking clothes, layering items, numerous programmes... Most of which, although… Read more
a bit daunting at first, I have mastered to date.
[+] Washes clothes... (better than a top loader) The 7.5 model allows you to add/remove laundry during wash cycle. Hot water usage does not impact my Solar. Takes the fluff out of your towels. All stainless drum Uses less water and detergent. Super (Quick) 15/30 minute wash cycle is a plus! All cold water option available No tangled clothes. Extra bench space End of washing alarm can be adjusted to a quieter volume.
[-] This Bosch 7.5 does not take a Queen size doona To soak items properly you need a yesteryear top loader!
TIP: Clothes with outer zips, metal buttons etc., consider turning those items inside out as they could scratch the door. Wipe away any water residue from compartments and leave door open to ventilate. Empty Service Flap occasionally.
Perfect machine for 2-3 people! Only one issue of display which looks confusing in the dark – It's a good machine for a small household. The features are amazing and works as desired. It's been over 7 months never had a single issue with it. It's super silent and washes cloths clean. It's power and water efficient. Cycle times vary between 15 mins and 3 hours but never seen the machine uses extra water or electricity. It's Eco mode… Read more · 3
would definitely saves a fortune.
The only issue is the display, the characters are displayed in bright red and it also illuminates the non active areas of the displays which confuses me most of the time.

Incredibly disappointed! Almost false advertising! – Thought we were getting an 8kg washer!! As a large family with ALOT of washing and with not a lot of time to do washing we thought purchasing this 8kg washer would be ideal!! WELL BUYERS BEWARE!!! This washer has ONLY ONE cycle that takes an 8kg wash and it takes a ridiculously unbelievable 3 hours and 11 minutes to complete!!! SO!!! You… Read more
stupidly spend hundreds of dollars on a brand name 8 kilo washer from Bosch that you think is going to be amazing and help your household, your budget and your time constraints only to find that to do 3 loads of 8kg washing will take you an incredulous 9 hours and 33 minutes!!!
Who on earth has that amount of time to do washing!?!?
3 hours and 11 minutes for one 8kg cycle is half of a school day and almost half of a work day!!!
We are so disappointed I can't even put it into words!!
We feel like this washing machine is HUGELY falsely advertised an 8 kilo washer with lots of 8kg quick wash settings. IT IS NOT and if that’s what you are buying it for JUST DON’T!!! You will be hugely disappointed and feel ripped off and deceived just as we do!!
Bosch, please make your advertising more clear on what customers are actually purchasing and what you will get! This is common decency and consumer respect!

$2 cost $180 – After 19 months of zero-problem operation, it abruptly developed an alarming clatter-clunk noise, the sort of sound you'd immediately pull your car over for, turn it off and call the NRMA. Bosch said it was under guarantee, arranged their preferred service agent to visit - which took about 20 days all up. When the nominated agent finally showed… Read more
up, he said to my wife: "Is the noise like this?" and did an excellent imitation. "Oh - I think I know what it is. Apprentice? The very-long-nosed pliers!" He put the apprentice to groping in the drain-hole/behind - who fairly rapidly found a very-clean $2 coin. "That's it. Not under guarantee, operator error. There's nothing wrong with your machine. Those coins just make a lot of horrible noise, that's all. $180, please?" I think this could have been handled better. The nice lady from Bosch who took the call was able to walk us through getting the door open - we'd stopped it when it had a load of very wet towels in, and the machine simply would not open. Finding the bypass involved kneeling, a long, very pointed knife, and directions. Getting the door open and the towels out before they went mouldy to destruction was important. But if it's a common problem, the second option: "Why don't you nip down to Bunnings, get the longest-nose pliers you can get that would explore that orifice, and grope for a coin yourself? That way, you're at least $100 in front and you own some expensive new pliers, forever." That second option - I think - could have been offered. Also - the drain-plug set-up - not a remotely friendly design. Hard to open, too close to the floor; only a (flat) tray could be used to catch excess water; And: needing someone able to operate eye-at-floor-level to find the override to get the door open. So - it still works perfectly - but ... grumpy customer, now.
Good little washer – Owned this 7.5kg model for three months. Bought it (unfortunately) just before extra manufacturer's discounts were on offer, but that's life. Very quiet, gets clothes clean quickly. Two adults use it. We tend to wash using the cottons or the mixed load default settings. Both cycles are much faster and more thorough than our old front loader. Front… Read more · 1
loaders are gentler on fabrics that top loaders, in my experience. Some people complain about the manual being confusing, but sadly some folk complain about almost everything. Instructions are really pretty straight forward, and not Chinglish. The default settings should suit most folk anyway. You turn on the water, put your stuff in, shut the door, add detergent, select your cycle and press the start button; not a lot of instruction needed really! Being able to add forgotten things mid-cycle without causing a flood is a nice feature. Our old Thor front loader lasted 13 years. If this one gets near that I will have no reason to complain. Bought it from a small Aussie firm in Melbourne called DomTech. Well pleased with them too.

Great washing machine – Excellent washing machine. This Bosch serie 4 washing machine has been going strong for over 5 years now. Very quiet and energy efficient. Love kids and dark wash modes. Plus delay timer. Self-cleaning. Quality machine made in China. Only downside is it is not big enough to wash some larger blankets. It’s been so good that we decided to get the Bosch serie 4 dishwasher this year to match the expectation that these machines are designed to last. Show details
It broke, but gave 15 years of good service – Our 15yo Bosch has now failed, but gave years of good service since its purchase in 2009. It has been used every second day and washed clothes very well. Power and water consumption were minimal. The only problem with it over the years was the electronic push button sometimes had a mind of its own, and skipped through more than one button push. … Read more
I put too many clothes into it a couple of months ago and overloaded it, which I think lead to premature bearing failure, which caused the drum to hit the heater and damage it - warm or hot washes not possible anymore. And now the bearings are very noisy and the drum is squeaky when it rotates. So it's time for a new machine.
Given the good service from this machine, I'll be replacing it with another Bosch.
Over 10 years old and still going strong!! – I have replaced the rubber seal and the carbon brushes. She squeaks a little from time to time, but smells clean and I run a full lime scale wash every 3-4 months. Always used cold water apart from lime scale wash. So apart from the basic maintenance, she has been an awesome washing machine. Show details

Washing machine stinks and not washing clothes properly! – WAshing machine semells really bad and very strong. I thought the smell would go away after a few washes and it hasnt its just getting worse. It's only been 2 weeks and now on most of the wash settings the water doesn't flow to the drum it just spins. The only setting that works is express however even then my clothes don't smell like they have… Read more
been washed even after 3 express washes with detergent and eucalyptus still no clean clothes. Bosch are taking their time in getting someone to look at it and who know what bs they will come back with. I will never ever purchase a bosch appliance again.
Two months out of warranty, Bosch refuses to fix an ongoing problem – I've always held Bosch in high regard, believing they stood for quality and durability. Sadly, my recent experience with their washing machine has been nothing short of disappointing. Six months ago, I faced an issue with the door lock mechanism of the machine. After reaching out to Bosch, they promptly repaired it, which I appreciated. Fast… Read more
forward to now, the SAME issue has returned. What's more frustrating is when I contacted Bosch again, they informed me that the machine is two months out of warranty, and hence, any repairs would be at my expense.
It seems quite rigid to decline a repair for an issue that was 'fixed' just six months ago, only because it's a couple of months out of warranty. I remember a time when buying a Bosch meant you were investing in reliability. I sincerely hope Bosch takes this feedback to heart and revisits their product quality and customer service protocols.
Broken after 2 years 8 months of normal use - Extremely disappointed – Display doesnt work any more / doesn t respond to pressing the display - Bosch used to be a brand name and my Dad worked for them for 20 years in the German headquarters, and I am extremely disappointed with this product. Will not buy anymore Bosch products in the future at all. Show details

High-end brand with low-end quality – Bought this machine just 3 years ago and it suddenly broke down. Called the customer service and got told that they won’t cover the repairing cost, which is $200 just for a call out and followed by the extra cost of the parts and another call out… A total cost might be even higher than buying a new machine ☹️ Buying from an high-end(and high… Read more
cost) brand like Bosch, I didn’t expect it only lasted for a short 3 years. It is not a fast fashion brand, it’s home appliances for daily use and should last for a decade at least. I’m very frustrated and disappointed at this situation and will never buy from them again nor recommend it to anyone else.

Another spider arm failure – We received this model from Bosch after our original front loaders spider arm fully disintegrated (approx 4 years old). Bosch provided a shop damaged replacement in the form of a Series 4. Kudos to them for that, not many companies would go that far. 4 years on and I'm guessing by the sound it made the other day it has thrown one of the spider arm… Read more
mounts. Currently running machine without any spin cycle whilst we deliberate on what brand to buy next. Surely someone can make a spider arm that last longer than 4 years. Only use liquid detergent and only 2 in the household, maybe 6 small loads a week!!
Updated 30-10-23 Stripped the machine and here is the spider arm!! Surprised it still was revolving tbh. We've moved on and purchased a Beko 7.5kg front loader with 5 year warranty and 10 year motor warranty. Time will tell how good it is but with at least 5 years warranty i shouldn't have another expensive fire pit before then right??

Useless service – Not working after 12 months. Good Guys won’t replace and still no call from people who are meant to come and service machine after not working for 4 days. Have purchased all our electrical goods from the Good Guys for the last 25 years, not anymore after the poor service to rectify the issue. For the amount paid and the short time we have had it should be a replacement not a repair. Show details
Broke down exactly at the end of warranty!! – Ran for 5 years, started leaking. Called The Good Guys, got refused service as warranty got expired 2 weeks back! After $150 call out fee, I was told the machine is broken! And would require $900 ( parts+service) to repair! My initial understanding was, Bosch is good brand for a washing machine, but May be if you are lucky!
I will not buy bosch again – Couldnt wash king Size sheet .a bosche rep said I can push king-size and wash. I did got washed but door is jammed and washing machine in not working not even 2 months .heathcotes says it's not covered by warranty Show details
I got banned by company for writing a review! so i cant buy anymore bosche products it seems. Will check this with bosche .
terrible disapointing – I purchased the Bosh washing machine under 3 years ago. A common fault of water leaking from the filter, with the filter stuck. Making removal very difficult has happened. I have been told it is out of its 2 year warranty and i will have to pay for the repair. of around $150 which according to my research will happen again over and over. For a machine costing $699 this is very disappointing i will never buy Bosch again. Show details
Doesn’t even wash probably – After looking around for a large family washing machine we decided on the Bosch series 4 8kg washing machine, my husband went & picked it up and as soon as he opened & installed it I knew there was no way this washing machine was an 8kg washing machine. After years with a Simpson 8kg top loader I thought I’d try something new , what a mistake! … Read more
My 5.5kg dryer tub is bigger than the Bosch front loader . And then using it , good Lord these cycles are ridiculous, same crap just different lengths in time , then after apparently washing your clothes they’re still dirty & only just damp , I’m re washing clothes 3 times because they’re not clean !
slightly above average – I wash every day I am basically happy with this machine. In hindsight should have purchased a larger machine as it too small for double bedding or larger loads but i find it suitable for my every day wash.I am very happy with the cycles and the cleanliness of the wash.i would say that this machine does its job very well Show details
Broke after 1 week – Bought it from the good guys and 1 week later it wouldn't turn on. Rang up Bosch for the warranty to fix it and they said they didn't have the parts and it would take 10 working days to fix it. Still waiting. This is one of the worst purchases. longer it just the worst customer service from both the good guys and bosch. I am very disappointed in both places. I would not buy from either the good guys or a bosch again.
So we waited for the part. The part they brought didnt work. They didn't offer a full refund. They said they could only replace it, but would take upto 8 weeks and with no guarantee it would be available then. They said another person had also been waiting for longer. The rep on the phone then got upset that I was angry at their customer service. I would strongly recommend that you do not buy from Bosch or the Good Guys.

Great washing machine – I've purchased the Bosch Serie 4 7.5kg washing machine about 7 months ago. The machine is pretty quiet and doesn't travel around the laundry room when on the spin. Good machine - Bosch is always good value – Has different washing cycles, but it's hard to know/understand what each does. The booklet that comes with it is not the best or most comprehensive. It would be good to have more information so that when we select different cycles we know what's going to happen (eg won't be using 'softener'). don't think I'm getting the most value out of the machine (no-one has time to play around with the washing machine!)
Having said that, the machine is fantastic, washes really well, spin dries to the point it feels like it's dry.
It's very quiet and beeps when it finishes (I always forget that I've put a load on!).
I have washed delicates right down to hubby's greasy work clothes, has handled them all really well.
Would happy to recommend it.
