After more than 16 years of loyal service from a Swedish washing machine, moving to a German-made model was a considered decision. There are some clear differences. The price point is significantly better, the machine is more compact, and the… Read more ·  1

overall design is clean and pleasant.

We moved from an 11 kg to a 9 kg capacity. While the larger drum was occasionally useful—particularly for washing dark loads, which now sometimes require two cycles—the 9 kg has generally proven sufficient. As a household of seven, this was an important consideration.

The washing performance and programmes are excellent, and clothes come out thoroughly clean. The main compromises are that garments are slightly more creased than with the Swedish machine, and the detergent drawer feels somewhat flimsy and unlikely to last 16 years. That said, it was purchased at roughly half the price, which puts this into perspective.

One practical note is that water does remain in the rubber door seal and needs to be wiped dry to prevent mould. The previous machine had a stainless steel rim, so this was not an issue.

Overall, this is very good value for money, delivers a lovely wash, and performs well for a large family. Despite a few minor drawbacks, I am happy with this machine and would purchase it again.

Follow-up  · The machine is quite and very efficient. I prefer to use the Allergy cycle and find this washes the clothes beautifully. We are very happy with this machine

Disappointed – I purchased the Bosch i-DOS Series 8 washing machine in September 2024, expecting top-notch quality and performance. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. A few months after purchase, the control panel completely stopped working. I contacted customer service and was given an appointment that was more than a week away. This… Read more

delay was incredibly inconvenient. After expressing my frustration, I was finally able to get an earlier appointment.

When the technicians arrived, they seemed confused about the issue initially. After some time, they identified that the power panel needed replacement—a major component failing within such a short time frame is unacceptable for a premium product like this.

Adding to my disappointment, operating and understanding the various controls of this machine is overly complicated. The user manual is lengthy and difficult to follow, making it frustrating to troubleshoot issues or even use certain features efficiently.

While the repair was eventually completed, I am highly disappointed with the overall experience, from the product’s reliability to the complexity of operation and the customer service process. This is not what I expected from Bosch.

I hope Bosch improves both the quality of their products and makes their user guides simpler and more intuitive for customers.

Good machine, few things I don't like – Good washing machine, don't see why it can't have a hole in the rubber at front door, water lays in it and I have to dry it every time I pull clothes out. Don't like that you can't put more fabric softener in, clothes come out stiff. Wish it had a quick wash so you could mostly use that. Also if you walk past and accidently brush on/off start it turns off, very sensitive. Washes and dries well but probably not as good as my previous Miele. Show details

5 years of sadness – Machine takes over an hour on the shortest wash, often leaks and is just overall inconsistent. I’ve had this machine 5 years now so this review is well considered. Timer is just for show, often shows 2mins remaining but then continues for another half hour. The buttons only work sometimes, the programs mean nothing, just a bad machine all over,… Read more

The matching dryer is even worse. My old $300 Aldi machine was way better for 1/5 the price. Avoid at all costs

They said front loaders were better – Although it states to be a 9kg capacity front loader, I actually weighed the first load I did and 8kg of clothes did not fit in the machine, about 6kg did. So, disappointed in that regard. Out of the 11 wash programmes available, only one will wash their so called 9kg and takes 3.34 hours. All the other programmes will only wash 2kg to 6.5kg… Read more

and the larger the load, the longer the wash cycle. Only 3 programmes use cold water and wash a maximum of 2kg. The Cottons programme spins at 1400rpm, which I've discovered deteriorates your clothes faster and stretches them as well. One saving grace is you can manually change the spin rpm and water temperature of any programme, but you have to do this each wash as there is no way of saving a favourite program. I also fill it to the max, i.e. about 3/4 full. I bought this machine because people said that front loaders are more gentle on your clothes and are more water and energy efficient. This one heats its own water, but I always use cold water. It's a bit back breaking getting the washing in and out of it as well. A bit disappointed so far, but I'll continue to tweak the programmes till I get the results I want.

Extra cost does not mean better quality – Don't think because you spent more, you get quality. This machine was not worth the money. The picture shows the leak and rest assured, as a builder myself, I engaged a top plumber to install. Both washer and dryer do not work, that's 2 out of 2. I could understand 1 of the two but this is such a joke. I'll never buy Bosch again ever. What a terrible experience. Show details

Disappointed in my Bosch Washing Machine – Very similar experience to reviewer below. Very disappointed with my experience with this machine. Not so much its performance, rather lifespan. After getting 11 good years out of my previous machine, I replaced it with this German made Bosch Series 8 machine in late 2018. Now, after just 5 years of standard family use it has died. I'm told the… Read more

'inverter module' is 'faulty' and will cost almost $500 to fix which really isn't worth it. This is incredibly poor for a high end machine. Googling around it seems that this fault isn't uncommon. I expect more from Bosch. I'm now weighing up whether I should give Bosch another chance as a replacement.
