I regret getting one – You just can’t trust this thing. Low on both accuracy and precision. It gave my baby’s temp reading as 38.1 and (a second later) 38.9. But it was confirmed to be close to 40 (that was moments after me using my Braun). Sweat on the forehead seems to affect it greatly, but it’s hard to have paper dry skin on your face when you have a fever. Hospital emergency use an armpit stick thermometer, get one and save yourself both $$ and a tonne of worry. Show details

Worst thermometer ever. Do not buy – DO NOT BUY. When my 3 kids were sick with Covid it was not detecting that they had a high temperature, even though they were clearly feverish. This thermometer does not detect the correct temperature and more often than not would just read Error. Now it only reads ‘Error’ all of the time and will not read any temperatures at all. It’s such a waste… Read more

of money and is going in the bin. Doctors prefer the ear thermometers for a reason, they are reliable and accurate. This one is absolute junk.

Always reads low – I bought the Braun 3000 and it wasn’t cheap! I’ve tried using it the last 3 months and it always reads low! I seen someone else had the same problem. I don’t have the box or receipt who typically keeps all that stuff. You need to put a note on the box or something to tell people to save for returns. Now I have a junk thermometer and no money to buy a different one Show details

Inaccurate, Pure Crap – We purchased this on sale from Chemist Warehouse as we were told forehead thermometers are the most accurate. Being first time parents and a bit worried our child had a temperature we were really relying on this to ease our minds. Started using it in the afternoon and would test it 4 times in the same spot and kept coming back with readings… Read more

anywhere between 37-41degrees. We monitored it all night and we also took his underarm temperature because we were unsure the forhead one was working and the underarm came back at a normal 36 degrees.

We went to the Dr the next day and they confirmed our baby in fact did not have a high temperature like what was showing on the forhead thermometer. I immediately took it back and while returning it, I was on the phone to Braun who actually told me that the forehead thermometer does not work on young babies/children although it says so on the packaging and the box has a baby on it.....apparently they will be changing the packaging because they’ve received many similar complaints but I would definitely not recommend buying this! So expensive for such a crappy result and so inaccurate! Chemist Warehouse were amazing and actually offered us the Ear Thermometer for no extra charge, I would definitely recommend that one for sure as we have been really happy with the ear one!

Don’t buy into all this negativity – We have this for our baby and have used it on our selves several times to. We love it. It consitantly gives me and my wife readings within .2 celcius I. Ourselves when we are not warm. Our baby’s temperature can fluctuate up to .5 or so but people need to remover this is surface temperature! If he has just been crying heavily or throwing a tantrum… Read more

it will obviously slightly affect the results.

I think this is best used as an indicater if you need to use a more invasive measuring, like rectal.

The reviews here that really bother me is all the people saying they had a high reading at home and the. Took him to ER and got unnecessary spinal taps, liquids, and blood work.....what crap! When you go to the hospital the triage nurse would have checked his temperature and based their testing of that... they don’t just do a spinal tap because you claim your touchesles monitor (which they all say isn’t as accurate) had a high reading when you were home.

All In all I like the product and don’t regret the purchase. But you need to follow its instructions..same as anything.

Accurate and Safe – Initially I was not happy with this thermometer as it can give very different readings if used incorrectly. If placed in the wrong place on forehead it can give incorrect readings which I would then recheck with a digital underarm thermometer which kind of defeats the purpose of buying a temporal thermometer. However; like the manual states after… Read more

some practice I was able to get more consistent readings which also correlated with digital thermometer.

You must be mindful of certain conditions which can effect accurate readings such as sweat, dirt or hair on forehead, showering and whether you have just been outside in elements or in my situation of an extremely high reading; been sitting under the heater for an hour!

It can also be difficult to use on newborns as they move their head alot however the same can be said for tympanic and axillary thermometers. I also found I got higher readings if taken immediately after breastfeeding (which the manyal states not to do but I was curious)!

Overall while the Braun Touchless + Forehead Thermometer can take some getting used to and is subject to elements which can effect accurate readings; when used correctly it is extremely accurate, safe and easy to use giving readings quickly. I have found the touch option rather than no-touch to be easier and more accurate again. Although quite expensive there is no need to buy probe covers and in this respect is affordable and hygenic.

It works as specified – I have used this thermometer and found it to show accurate readings when compared to other thermometers. It also shows repeatable temperature readings. readings will occur. The ease of use and speed of obtaining a temperature readings make it an excellent choice of thermometers as it means a non-contact temperature can be made, just as is done in a doctors surgery. Non-contact means no awkward in ear insertions, no replacement of plastic protective covers, no cleaning or sterilisation of the thermometer is required. The only problem with the no touch thermometer is it won’t work when the room temperature is below 15C as detailed in the operating instructions.

Great item & accurate – Been reading a lot of reviews on this website and unfortunately a lot were Negative. As long as you follow the directions carefully, you won't run into any problems. In fact this was recommended to me by my GP. Little bub has been sick a few times now with cold/flu, the reading with this thermometer has been consistent with our doctor. Highly recommend!

Love it – Love this I got it when I had my second it was so easy and quick to use on a new born and great for my seven year old he loves it too (he never like having something stuck in his ear). I find it way more hygienic too. You don't have to keep running out buy in caps which was a pain.

Do not buy. Inaccurate and misleading – Every time you use it within seconds , on the same person, under same conditions and area it gives a different reading. And I mean 2-3 points different every time. They should be sued for this product, at the end of the day it’s someone health at steak.  Show details

How can they get away with selling such poor prodcuts – I purchased this thermometer when my wife tested positive for COVID 19. Over the course of 3 days I've used it on both of us. I consistently have readings of 95.5 - that is, hypothermia - whereas she has inconsistent readings between 99 and 102. I eventually found our old analog under the tongue model and was quite relived that she does not have a fever. I had expected better; they ought to be put out of business. Show details

Inconsistent Readings – Design is great, build quality is great. However when we take our babies temps we get a different reading every time. It’s horribly inconsistent and therefore stresses us out. We know our daughter is sick, and is running a fever. However having a reading of 40.3, 37.6 and 38.6 in a span of 1 minute is a joke. It’s the difference between us rushing to go see the doctor or giving a dose of Panadol.  Show details

Inaccurate Braun Thermoscan 3000 is not my choice during a pandemic – My device read inaccurate higher temp on avg of 2° For 3 straight days. I decided to try 2 new thermometers. Both new thermometers read normal. Braun read 100°F-101°F. Unsatisfactory.

Wildly inaccurate – I can’t believe how awful this product is. For a well-known brand I expected it to at least work in a basic sense. It doesn’t fulfill its only function which is to give a temperature rating. It varies as much as a whole degree within a few seconds on the same person under the same conditions. It’s especially alarming that it tells the user that… Read more

the person has a fever when they do not, this is extremely stressful as I am have been using it on my newborn baby. Every time it tells me she has a fever I check her temperature with a different thermometer and it reassures me that she actually does not have a temperature at alL. Awful product

Absolute waste of money! – I can not believe something you pay so much for gives a different reading ranging from 36.5 up to 40 degrees when you are just trying to get one reading. Why not take the baby picture of your packet so parents looking for piece of mind don’t get fooled 100 times and end up in ED in the early hours if the morning because the thermometer can’t read the correct temp! So annoyed at this brand.

Completely inaccurate – Completely inaccurate readings, consistently 2 degrees lower than expected, I have consistently had hypothermia temperature reading for a whole week now, checked against another medical thermometer to confirm reading is false. Changing batteries does not correct this. Waste of money and dangerous if it is used as a screening thermometer for Covid 19.

Inaccurate – It showed my child's temperature as 34.8 and my other child had a fever of 38. Both are completely fine. I then checked with an ear thermometer and they were both normal in low 37 range. Sometimes it shows what seem to be accurate readings. However then a few hours later it shows them w a fever and extreme low body temperature. Waste of money. Show details

Never shows true temperature – We bought in New Zealand for around $150. We have a baby and liked the idea of non contact thermometer. It always shows high temperature than actual. It scared us once when it showed 40.5degC of our son and we immediately went to the hospital. It is not consisnent, not realiable and not acurate. I wouldn't recommend to buy at all. Show details

Misleading and inaccurate – Not reliable at all. How can it produce such different readings every single time? Parents rely on the Braun name when they buy this expensive device. Surely, if the device does not work properly or only works under unrealistic conditions, you have to make it clear before the device is purchased. Show details

Unaccurate – Can take multiple readings and get +/- 0.5 degree differences each time, we usually have to take multiple readings until we get the one we want. Today it's showing my infant has a temperature of 38.1 degrees, however a digital thermometer in the armpit says 36.0. Show details

This product gives the wrong temperature, item is useless. Took my new born to A&E – This product gives the wrong temperature, item is useless. Took my new born to A&E and nearly but her through something that she didn't even need. Only if we knew before hand that the product doesn't do what it says it does. So unreliable – Purchased this product as we have purchased the brand in the past and unfortunately the product gave different results each time and the results were dramatic as well. Quiet distressing as well because we have a newborn. We were told to take the baby to the thermometer, and to always keep it in the one spot. Rather difficult, when trying to make life easy with a Bub.

Total waste of money – I finally invested in what I thought was a great thermometer at an expensive price. This thermometer is completely inaccurate, absolutely useless. Unreliable! – I'm glad I didn't buy - was given to me as a present. Never reliable since taking it of the package. A lot of times reads 39 degrees, at the same time a normal thermometer reads 37. the reviews I read here are experiencing the same problem!

Maybe the forehead is not an adequate place to measure the temperature.

And all this inaccuracy costs $145?!

I have a feeling that this thermometer is money-grabbing a scam.

To close on a positive... my 11-month son loves when I take his temperature with it, he finds it super funny... so I guess the $145 haven't been totally wasted...

So inaccurate – I agree with all the negative reviews of this thermometer. I bought this as it was supposed to be the most accurate but after weeks of my son getting consistently high temperatures on this (even though he gp showed lower), the gp referred us to a pediatrician for further tests. He took his temperature rectally as it’s apparently the ‘gold… Read more

standard’ and doesn’t lie and it came back completely normal, even though the Braun was showing much higher at the same time. The pediatrician also said these infrared thermometers aren’t accurate for small children and recommended a regular underarm thermometer (adding a degree to the reading). I’ve been using this method since then and have found it much more accurate. This thermometer is such a waste of money and causes a lot of unnecessary stress due to the high readings.

Defective from new – Bought two. One for my wife, to track her health while undergoing Chemotherapy, and the other for my daughter and her two children; an infant, and a seven year old fighting off both versions of the flu this year. Neither instrument ever read above 96.X. I used two oral thermometers (both digital) and one to be used in the patient's ear. Within… Read more

Unreliable temperature readings – Purchased from chemist warehouse. Temperature readings very variable. We had to double check the reading with other tympanic thermometer. Very disappointing that this piece of equipment can not accurately give the temperature. Unfortunately I will not be replacing this one with the same when the time comes but will seek a better device.

Inaccurate and Waste of Money – Purchased from Chemist Warehouse to check our little one as he was always getting sick at child care and the thermometer most of the time reading 34 degrees, costing us time and money running to the doctors and once to emergency children's hospital, we were worried and the doctor also checked temperature and the Braun was wrong, I should have read… Read more

Very inaccurate – Bought this thermometer thinking that a good expensive one would be better than a cheap oral thermometer, but am so disappointed in this one. when he’s up at night with a fever and the light in his eyes is upsetting him and I’m getting readings that can vary from 37 to 42.5 depending how exactly I can hold it near his wiggly head. A variation in results like that could mean the difference between having a bit of panadol or rushing off to hospital, so I just think the readings are too inconsistent to be reliable. Its very stressful when you’re kids are sick, you want to know how to help them and this thermometer is just all over the place.

Inaccurate most of the time – This product was on my wish list for my registry when choosing products for my newborn I was excited knowing that I wouldn't have to be trying to struggle when my baby was sick to try and take her temperature. This was all in good in theory but every reading was different to the last. Very inaccurate device.

Unreasonably inaccurate – This product does not work at all, I mean at all. It usually gives so many different readings, so inaccurate, at least 3-5 degrees higher than any thermometers you would buy anywhere. Do not waste your money, most of all, it gives you false reading for your baby. They should stop selling this product.
