Was very happy until i wasn't – I purchased the Braun Irt6529 thermometer some time ago. It was all working fine until i needed to replant batteries. As soon as i replaced batteries, it has lost age precision function. I did nothing other than just inserting new batteries. I spent a lot of money on it and was not expecting it to be so temperamental. Anyone with sane issue, please help. Show details

The best ever thermometer – This has been a well worth purchase. I have a digital thermometer that is not the same accuracy as the Braun. It's inaccurate for the baby – I have bought this model 3 month ago as per my GP's advise to get a better thermoscanner. theremoscaneer showed was incorrect!! I brought it back to the checkist that I buy this one from and they kindly follow it up for me for Braun. After 3 month I haven't got my refundle! even they Braun asked to send it back to Sydney from Melbourne to Seyney. So, They have kept it for 3 month!!!! and no refound and no-one back to me. I have just wanted to share with you dear consumers. If you want to buy a good thermoscanner it one is the worst oen form accuracy, price and specially customer caere. Please look at the other brand whoo may respect their customers and give a quality product (and not just a FALSE advertisements) to you.

good and accurate – This is probably the best thermometer you can buy. it is easy to use and very accurate. We have 2 toddlers and this thermometer have served us good for the last 3 years. temperature is not always the same in both ears and even if you check the temp twice in the same ear it is impossible to hit the exact same spot so you should expect 0.1 - 0.3 fluctuations in temperature. Always take the higher reading as final. We also have AccuMed AT2103 (laser touchless), I only use the AccuMed as a guide during the night and if the AccuMed shows high readings then I will check his ears with the Braun. If you are on the market for laser touchless thermometer, go with Medescan Touchless (its better then the AccuMed). I give 4 stars because of the price and because they charge an arm and a leg for filters, just order plenty from ebay or aliexpress and you are good to go.

Could not handle babies’ illnesses without this – I’ve been using this Thermoscan since 2017, when we bought it. It has served us very well with both our children. The read is accurate, I have base line temperatures for both my babies so I know when the read is higher than their usual temperature, they have a fever. bothered writing a review about it to be honest but my husband said the other day ‘this thermometer has worked well for us, we should write a review’ so I did. I’m sorry to hear some others have had trouble, but for me, I seriously couldn’t handle my kids being sick without this. I would repurchase if it stopped working because it is brilliant in my opinion. I’m pretty sure it’s the Thermoscan 5, bought in 2017 but I could be mistaken about the model - please get in touch with me if you want more info. Perfect for newborn – I bought this new thermometer for our newborn as my old one was lost. Excellent product, very fast and correct temp reading, comes with cradle to store it when not in use, three temp preset settings are handy and the light changes color when temp is too high which is very very helpful Show details

Excellent – A very reliable thermometer. Easy to use and gives a quick reading. Always seems to be consistent with accurate reads unlike previous brands I've tried. Would definitely recommend. They die after 18months when out of warranty – Have gone through 2 of these now, each one of them died after about 18 months which is outside the 12 month warranty period. Definitely wouldn't recommend Braun. Show details

Good, but died after 22 months of use – It's a good thermometer. It provides a fairly quick reading because it preheats the tip. You need to hold in the ear canal for about 1-2s only. After 22 months of use the thermometer stopped working and kept reading "Hi" , I think something happened to the calibration and it became about +10C off calibration.

It's an expensive thermometer if it only lasts less than 2 years. I will adjust this review if I am able to sort out a warranty replacement through Braun USA or Braun NZ. The item was purchased from Amazon USA and sent to New Zealand.

Not accurate at all – This thermometer is extremely inaccurate. I placed it in my sons ear & tested it 3 times, not moving it . The numbers were all different! From 37.6 to 36.9. Waste of $120. Youre better off getting an underarm thermometer. Show details

Inaccurate Readings Immediately One After The Other – This product is absolute garbage! Waste of money and dangerous. You can take three readings without even removing it from the ear and get three completely different readings up to 2 degrees different! Replaced batteries so there’s no excuse. Not a good product – Only used it a few times and now it blinks green at top and flashing numbers . Not very dependable device for a parent or anyone to have on deck when dealing with sick children. Very disappointed

night light let alone the colour codes. The exact age button does not work and neither does the memory button. I checked my temperature, my husbands and our sons and all our temperatures read 37 for both the ears. So to say we are disappointed is an understatement especially when you think you are purchasing a “premium” product.

are fine, I bought the thermometer to the drs office and we tested a few different thermometers that gave a very accurate reading, but this device was the only one that calculated a high temp. I then also question the other thermometers thinking, this is newer and obviously better technology, but in actual fact it’s a piece of rubbish and very frustrating to use!

I took my temp just now and it’s telling me 37.8 On my other braun it’s saying 36.8. Braun need to correct this issue Because Going by posts alike, there seems to be a issue with these thermometers!

hospital on Monday and I am still in here . My oncologist at the hospital is trying to work out why my temp had been above 38 for 4 nights in a row. She asked my husband to bring in our thermoscan which he did tonight. The nurse took my temp at 9.20pm tonight and it was 37.1. I then used mine and it showed 38 which clearly is a big difference . I am not exactly sure which model it is as it doesnt say on it but could get the details from my bank. Can u pls explain the difference in the readings. Bad readings – Thermometers seems to be high in the evening (37.5C), after coming back from my commute home. Try to correlate results with forehead + oral, but both shows results < 37C. There is also a different of 0.4C between readings. Show details

Not very consistent or reliable readings – The temperature reading fluctuates a lot depending how the product is used, for example ,if my wife uses the product to measure our baby boys temp it reads 37,2 but of I take the temp 10 sec later it reads 38,5 and even had a 40.2 reading moments later.... Show details

worried about deterioration only to find temp 36.5 at the hospital. A perfect example of how expense does not equate quality!

How you could sell this product – I bought this one this morning and the readings were horrifying, very high at least 2 C, how dangerous is that when I started giving my boy nurofen and panadol every 4 hours, It was suspicious so I asked my wife to check her temperature and was 37.8 C a little bit high for healthy adult. I am pretty sure the product is somewhat defective and does require serious attention here.

Waste of $$$ – Consistently 2-3 degrees out. Measures normal body temp as 35.5 every time. So if your kid is sick with a 39 it reads 37. So they are actually pretty dangerous to have around. Poor thermometer – It gives me different readings for each ear! The reading keeps on changing. It would read 36.8 and after a few seconds would read 38. How can I trust my baby's health to this inaccurate machine? Very inconvenient for babies as they get unsettled when they get a fever so the last thing they want is something inside their ears! would not recommend at all, at least for kids/babies.

Awesome thermometer – Bought one of these thermometers off eBay and it’s been such a great buy. Have used it a few times with our little one and it’s so quick and simple to get a reading. We had an under arm thermometer at the start that took so long to give a reading which was a pain. one minute to the next after being dropped. A doctors visit confirmed she still had a temp and our thermometer was not working properly. After reading a lot of negative (and some positive) reviews I reluctantly decided the Braun ThermoScan 7 as it looked like the best option available. I was in two minds with the ThermoScan 5 thinking it might be better being a more basic model without unnecessary features. I ended up going for the 7 (IRT6520) and I am so glad we bought it. Instant confidence when it confirmed my daughters temperature and could clearly see the difference when we administered paracetemol. We have now had sickness through the house and using it on mum too and clearly showed her high temp and back to normal again. I thought the changing colour would be kitchy but it is excellent. My daughter is fussy and doesn't like us doing anything and I simply say 'Ash let's see what colour your ear is?' and she is eager to see and brings a smile every time. You can't hurt the ear drum because it is designed not to go past that point so you should firmly place it in your ear and hit the button. Gives a reading in ~2 sec then you put it back in its cradle and it turns itself back off automatically. A tip to save you using too many end caps (which are very easy to fit and remove by the way) is to purchase some alcohol wipes (we bought some mini ones from Coles for $2.50 for 50 of them). You should still replace the tip if it gets dirty or damaged but we use the wipes for a day or two before replacing. We do keep our ears pretty clean which helps :). Thumbs up at this point, hopefully it will go the distance and I get good support if it develops an issue - yet untested.

you have little kids which are helpless when they sick. And when kids are sick parents are helpless too

good for my child – I love this thing! No more holding a probe under the tongue or jamming one in the ear. Just point the Equinox at the forehead, press the button, and that's it! In only a couple seconds you have the temp. I took it with me to my doctor's and checked it with their thermometers. They have both under the tongue and in the ear. There was no difference!

Amazing until battery change. Now inaccurate, and out of warranty – We bought our ear thermometer almost exactly 5yrs ago for $200+nz. Has been amazing, but a month ago batteries ran out. Changed them and it took me 20mins to get it to do any reading. We guessed out by half degree. Took to local braun agent in Palmers ton North. Won't calibrate over 0.3degree. What's the point of selling a product you won't fix? Surely you should be able to change the batteries without it becoming inaccurate? Can't afford another braun... Not sure where to go next. Hoping kids don't get sick.

Good Product (if it works), bad service – Avoid this thermometer at all cost. I bought this yesterday and the readings on them are incorrect. No response from chemist warehouse, they are giving me the runaround. Called over and over again inquiring about it. And the standard response is “can I have your number, will call you back immediately” never hear from them again. Also, avoid Braun products from chemist warehouse. They mentioned that they do not replace a faulty product by Braun. The product will be sent for testing, You could be waiting for weeks to months for a response.

I got the thermometer replaced and it seems to be working for the moment. The product is good if it works, but the service could improve a lot more.

Horrible product – Thermometer is only a few months old and all we get is POS on the screen. Tried batteries, holding it in different positions, even tried just holding it still in my hand which should read LO but no, we get POS. Ridiculous that, from the reviews, this is a low quality product at a high price. Can't find proof of purchase so Braun have zero interest. Will never buy this brand again. STAY AWAY
