Braun ThermoScan IRT 6020

OK, but no "Beep" – Just bought this ear thermometer yesterday and tried it out this morning. It seems to be working except that it does not beep when scan is complete so I don't really know if it has taken an accurate reading even after leaving it the ear for 30-45 seconds. The manual and Braun website are of no help.

Indispensible for parents – The occasions I've taken the kids to the doctor with a fever, the GP's device (similar design, maybe a Braun too) got very close to the same temp as ours did before we went in. despite kids not sitting still (especially when sick).

The replacement plastic ear covers are expensive but I don't use a new one for each reading, just a different one for each person (and dispose of them after a given bout of sickness). So it's not too bad.

Stopped working in first month – I bought this at a Costco retailer worked great the first two weeks had put away properly then when I needed it, it didn't want to turn on replace the battery is still didn't want to turn on! Not even 1 month old. How can this be purchased and die so quickly I am one unhappy customer with a sick child.

Works well when kids bigger, Inconsistent on smaller kids – I've had this for about 4 years now, and bought it for a new born. I've found that when the kids are very small its difficult to get a consistent reading and found myself going back to the old thermometer, but once they are about 3 (a bit bigger) it seems to get a consistent reading. once bigger i found myself having to be concious of exactly how i position the thermometer in the childs ear as getting the position wrong can mess with the reading. Saying that once this is worked out its quite quick

Doesn't work – It only reads POS however many times I've tried and whatever methods I've tried... I'm very disappointed as I expected it to be handy when in emergency but instead it gave me great headache when my little one had high fever and even bigger disappointment.... I just want a thermoscan that works..... I do feel like I've been scammed as it costs us so much money and never worked once and to just throw it away is such a waste for the planet...
