wiped down the tables and washed them down twice to make sure all dust/grit was gone. I then wiped my hand over each surface before 'painting' to check again that all felt 'clean' and smooth. I applied with a brand new brush specifically for varnish. I painted on with even strokes making sure wet overlapped wet. Tables came out patchy and rough - like super gritty. I'll need to sand again and coat at least one more time but I expect twice. It is a really disappointing product and seems to parallel the much cheaper "more than one coat" products. Definitely not a one coat product and is falsely advertised/promoted! Amazing and unexpected for a company like this.

Watch temp and viscosity – This review is for the OIL based version - Product Review has used wrong photo and title. Nice shine but didn’t flow very well. If you’re in Victoria in mid-winter maybe thin just a little to get a level surface. They also do a water based version if you definitely don’t want to change the colour much. Show details
