Unsafe – I have a newborn on the larger side who managed to get the neck rise up and material stuck over his nose and face. Massive safety concern. There’s also an unnecessary amount of extra material. It is a nice breathable material on a positive note.

Too loose and unsafe – My 9 week old is 5 kg so pretty average and this swaddle is way too loose to sooth her. The zip seemed flimsy and the dome was fidly. The length was a huge problem. I bought three as was desperate with a very unsettled reflux baby. When I'm rocking her in my arms, all the excess length keeps rising up and lifting over her face. She wouldn't sooth… Read more

with this on and it's not tight enough. I was disappointed that I couldn't return the other two that are still in the box- credit only.

Great for baby – We started putting my son in this bag at 6 weeks old, as he was pulling loose his muslin wraps, and he seems to sleep really well in it so far. He moves around a lot while sleeping and has not managed to wriggle out yet! He seems to like his arms up as well, but I love that they are still loosely swaddled so he can't startle. He has not been able… Read more

to pull any excess material up over his face as other people have posted. I am really happy with it!

Great concept but safety-wise is a concern – This product has great potential - clever concept, nice material, easy to zip and fasten and my baby fell asleep very quickly in it. My concern is its safety. Despite tucking in the excess material under the bassinette mattress and following the product's instruction pamphlet, I was horrified to witness at 3am the material covering my baby's face.… Read more

She had brought her hands up to her face and brought the folded part of the material with her. This was the only night I used it as I was too scared to try it again.

Great swaddle – This was the third product we tried and our bub loves this swaddle. It is the only one that allowed movement without breaking out of the swaddle completely. However she is a very active bub and can get her right arm out no matter how well I wrap her. It is worrying that she can pull up over her mouth and nose but am now tucking the end in to… Read more ·  1

prevent this. In terms of improvements suggest include zip at top and bottom as I have to tuck her arm back in over night which is difficult with only uncliping the press stud. Otherwise a great product that our bub loves.

Great – Really liked this. My son loved to be swaddled but it also allowed room for movement. Yes, he could sometimes move his arms above his face however I wasn't concerned, he found this position comfortable and he was still able to breath and was safe. The newborn size is generous which is good now as my son is 6 months and still in it, however he had to wait some time before he could use it after birth.  Show 2 replies

A nice swaddle, great for arms and legs – My baby hates having her arms swaddled, so the Bubbaroo Joey was a life saver because she could move her arms around (and up!) without flinging them out and hitting the side of her bassinet. I was really happy with how much space there was around her legs, so they could be in the natural frog position, and the waffle material was good quality and… Read more

easy to dry. I also like the fact that light dyes were used, given how much bub would suck on the material around her fists. My only concern was when she got bigger and started pulling the material up over her face. Luckily she never pulled it up over her chin, but I stopped using it at 2 months old as a precaution. Overall design, ability for bub to move arms Expensive, bub able to pull material up around face

Covers babies face – It worked well for first few weeks when baby was too small and not strong enough to wriggle around, then he managed to wriggle and material would cover his face. I wrapped him following the instructions carefully, however there were no instructions to say tuck the excess material under the cot mattress, I found this information on the… Read more

bubbaroojoey website. Even then he wriggled it out. Sometime he would get one or both arms free. I ended up sewing up the bottom part of excess material,. I am very disappointed with this product. I thought it might be a design fault however a friend gave me the exact same one and I had the same problem with it.

Material covered babies face, had to sew up bottom of pouch

Great material, but the design makes me anxious – I love the material and the fact that you can zip it up. I am moving my son into a separate room in a large cot and I am concerned about using extra bedding, the joey pouch seemed like a nice alternative to using a blanket. However, after putting him to sleep with this last night I noticed to my dismay that when he raises his arms, the material… Read more

covers his nose and face!! I could not sleep worrying about him suffocating last night and had to switch him to a different sleep bag.

Today I read on the Bubbaroo website that you're meant to tuck any extra material at the bottom into the end of the cot or bassinet. I have done this today, it works much better and he is sleeping with it because the material is nice and I don't want him overheating in the weather we are having... but really I will be ditching this as soon as possible, because I find it very disturbing that I should have to know to tuck the ends into the bottom of the cot in order to make the product safe. Plus, I worry what will happen if he manages to pull it out with his strong little legs. The material and the fact that you can change baby without undoing the whole bag. Material covers nose and face when baby raises his arms.

Good product – We got this as a gift with our first baby and we've used in for our next also. It has worn well over that time. We used several differnt methods of swaddling our babies and this was a convenient method as the zippers made it really easy to use. Feels nice and prevents baby getting to hot, but the material was a little light for using in winter… Read more

without having extra clothes and blankets on baby.

Our kids were wripplers though and would get their hands out the neck hole and then wiggle their arms and shoulders out. Easy to use. Bottom opening zip handy. Nice construction quality. Nice fabric To light to use alone in winter. Fabric stretchy which enabled baby to wiggle out a bit.

Ok but have concerns – The pouch is good in that it ensures the Baby can not undo it and get her hands out, which is what my daughter constantly did with the conventional swaddle no matter how tight we swaddled her. My baby likes to sleep with her hands at her face, (that's where they were in the womb so that is where she likes to have them) What I don't like about… Read more

the pouch is that when she lifts her hands the pouch material covers her face, (mouth and nose) that worries me a lot, I constantly had to check on her at night to make sure she could breath. In the end I swaddled her in a light muslin wrap and the put her in the pouch to ensure her hands could not get too far up bringing the material with it. Keeps baby nicely enclosed and reduces startling are movements that would wake baby. If baby lifted arms to face, material of pouch would cover face.

Love it! – We used the Bubbaroo for a transition between swaddling and the Grobag. Baby didn't like being swaddled, but was not heavy & big enough (had to be 4kg) for the Grobag. With the Bubbaroo, baby could be 3kg, which was excellent. With the Bubbaroo, she was still 'swaddled', but could move her arms and have her hands by her face (yet still covered so… Read more ·  1

she couldn't startle herself awake.)

Baby enjoyed the Bubbaroo and we didn't have the hassle of swaddling. Bubbaroo was easy to use, with a good quality material, press-stud and zipper. It also washed well. I liked that it was quick drying and the material still looked good after many washes.

I would highly recommend the Bubbaroo joey pouch. lightweight, easy to wash, good quality material and zip, comfortable for baby, quick drying, baby can use from 3kg

Excellent – I love it and so does my baby. Have recommended it to many friends and they have loved the product too. Great method to swaddle allowing the baby freedom to move about which is not possible when swaddling with a bunny rug or muslin. My daughter gets great comfort from having her hands next to her face but has the security of being swaddled. Now… Read more ·  1

the colder months are upon us I love that you can put the joey pouch over the joey swag so that baby is kept lovely and warm. I love that baby can wear it in the car seat or pram. Great wash and wear fabric. Really has been great for us. Cannot fault the product.

Excellent – Despite the cost, I'd buy this again (although you probably only need one as it washes and dries quickly) over other 'fixed size' swaddles like the Swaddle Me as babies won't outgrow the pouch. Our baby never managed to escape from this swaddle, and liked the freedom of movement for his arms. The generous size of the pouch is good as other… Read more ·  1

swaddles that we tried were quickly outgrown. The zippered bottom was great for late night nappy changes without waking the baby. Lightweight waffle fabric would be good year-round. Fairly expensive

OK – My husband bought this because we have a very active wriggly baby who escaped from swaddles. It was ok - certainly easy to use but I got a bit of a scare when she pulled it up over her face one night when she managed to wriggle out if the internal swaddle - maybe because she was a long skinny baby. I ended up buying bigger muslin clothes which was… Read more

more effective. I think it wouldn't be a problem with a fatter, less active baby. Very easy to put baby in and do up. Washed well and dried quickly. Baby could pull it over her face when her arms moved around

Good – I'm glad that we tried this with our baby. It does not suit all babies as a friend tried it also and her baby hated it. Great for newborns who do not like to be wrapped the traditional way. They can move arms freely around, but not up to face area to wake themselves up Quite expensive Show 2 replies
