Don't use these thieves they take your money with made up charges a 79 dollar truck ends up being $140 through made up charges at the end that's why they keep your deposit for 3 days and you won't get it all back if you hire these cancel your bank transaction immediately after you pick it up and deal with the extra charges on your terms Show details
I am extremely disappointed with the service at Budget [Nombre de la oficina, ej: Melbourne Airport]. I was charged a $100 late fee for extra time, which is completely incorrect. I returned the vehicle at [Hora de entrega] on [Fecha], which was well within the agreed timeframe. I have proof of the return time, yet Budget processed this… Read more
unauthorized charge anyway. This is dishonest and unprofessional. I have already tried to contact customer service, but the issue remains unresolved. I am warning other travelers to be careful with their receipts and return times when renting from this location. I expect an immediate refund of the $100. If they did with 30 customers are $3000 is not for $100 is dishonest. Highett agency.
Customers beware beware beware!! Campbellfield VIC location, Very untruthful and dishonest and hidden fees not revealed at the start, booked the truck then needed to pay additional cost for tailgate even though all the 4.2m moving vans already come with it when asking the retailer, when returning the truck with a full tank upon dropping the truck… Read more
off staff member asks did I fill the tank I reply yes would you like the receipt then states no not required as long as you filled it, 4-5 days after then receiving invoice to my surprise a fuel service charge WHY??? When contacting budget and explaining the situation they start saying where’s your receipt for filling up the petrol from which service station so on and so forth, anyway long story short budget wiped there hands therefore forwarding to ombudsman Will not use again and if YOU go make sure you take photos of your odometer reading before and after and fuel purchase when returning back GOOD LUCK!
Budget - never again – We hired a Moving Van (normal driver's licence) from Budget in Fremantle WA to move furniture from Augusta to Perth, a round trip of approx 650km, for 3 days. (We knew about the 300km "free kms" - pretty small in a state this size, but anyway!). All started well. We were greeted courteously and shown to a smart, newish looking Budget truck. But,… Read more
closer inspection revealed the back door was broken and couldn't be repaired on site. We were offered an alternative vehicle (with Avis signage) with 218,000km on the clock. Being locked into a tight schedule we accepted. Mistake. Small annoyances appeared shortly afterwards. It wasn't completely filled with fuel (as we had been clearly told we had to do when returning the vehicle - my fault for not checking); the radio was broken, not life threatening but would be nice for a long journey; the coffee cup holders were covered in a green slime, yuk, but we could ignore that. The more serious faults appeared when we arrived in Augusta - a windy place at the best of times. When opening the back doors, one could not be secured as the latch was broken - a strong gust of wind caught the door and it swung violently on its hinge. Fortunately, I was facing the door and managed to cushion the impact. Had it hit me in the back, it could have been quite serious. I had to jam the door open with a spade wedged into the ground. Next problem - the hydraulic tail lift. The internal control was broken and obviously had been for some time. This meant my wife had to use the external control, whilst I rode the lift with furniture - frustrating and time consuming. Anyway, we did get loaded eventually and set off for Perth. Halfway home we had a puncture. That can happen to any vehicle, I know. Changing the wheel was too much for me ( a manual to show jacking points? Don't be silly). A call to the help line worked well, full marks there - still not sure if we will be charged for that. A strong, very polite young man arrived and changed the tyre with his mechanised equipment, blocks and chocks (attempting to do that myself without the right gear would have been too risky). I won't mention his name here as I might get him into trouble for his observation that the tyre "was barely legal." Anyway, we got home safely and unloaded, eventually. Upon returning the truck, the report of our experiences was met with little sympathy. Comments included "people break things, what are we supposed to do?" in reference to the broken tail lift controller and the door latch - repair them might be a good option; "it was legal" in response to the tyre, and "our name is Budget" - does that mean they offer second rate vehicles? And finally, and I'm not sure the staff member should have told us, "that vehicle is being decommissioned after today". So we paid full price for a second rate service. My experiences with Budget goes back to the days of founder Bob Ansett, when he actually sat on a call desk and sorted out any problems himself - how times have changed! But no more Budget for me.
fee fo fi fum i smell a customer comming on – fees fees and nore fees i thought a day rental was approx $ 100 plus g.s.t ended up $160 .bye bye budget it was approx $97 for the day but ballooned out with hidden charges to over 50% bmore????
"Unfair Extra Fuel Charges After Returning the Truck Full" – "I recently rented a truck from Budget Truck Rentals in Bendigo and followed all the requirements, including filling the tank to full before returning it. Despite this, I was charged extra for fuel. This charge was both unexpected and unfair, as I ensured the truck was returned with a full tank as per the rental agreement. The lack of… Read more
transparency regarding this additional charge has left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied with the service.
I would advise others to double-check all charges and ensure that everything is documented clearly to avoid any surprise costs."
Wouldn’t recommend – I I rented a truck from Budget Trucks located in Campbellfield, Victoria. After completing the payment, I returned the truck without any problems. However, I noticed that they charged two of my accounts, which they are denying. They have only agreed to refund the amount of 400.00 and not the extra payment of $191.72. I have submitted the necessary… Read more
documentation to demonstrate the two charges. Based on my experience, I would not recommend using their services for truck rentals, as they tend to deflect responsibility when it comes to refunding money owed to customers, often claiming a lack of recollection regarding the issue.
Frustrating – Don’t bother, unless you want to crawl along 110km highway at 90kms due to continual beeping system. Like Jetstar with the add-ons and costs. Add a complimentary trolley, ropes and blankets like other companies not a biggy……..customers will appreciate your customer service and care. Plus a smile costs nothing.
A happy customer !! – A massive shout out to the ladies at the front desk in Wingfield ( Kaitlin and Chelsea ) absolutely great service , always friendly , helpful , polite and if there has been any issues with the trucks , they are always quick to resolve the problem and it’s always done with a big smile on their faces ! Such amazing and lovely girls ! Highly recommend to go to them if anyone is ever in need to hire a truck!!
Fantastic – I have dealt with Salisbury office for 15 years with my business. Recommended so many friends and acquaintances. Steve and Kelly are a great team and it’s been fantastic to watch them grow and expand the business . Wouldn’t go through anyone else. Keep up the great work
Very bad – Tuggerah nsw we have rented off budget Tuggerah 3 or 4 times I rang. on 5th of April to hire again I am still waiting for a call back the service was very bad the girl who answered phone was telling me ill ring you back I was ringing in 1 hr between calls no more budget hire for me I don't know how they get buisness
Extortionate money grabbers – This review is for Budget PRESTON. They’re trying to charge me $2000 for a scratch on a truck that was badly scratched to begin with. I’m happy to pay something, but they’ve completed work on restoring the whole truck and have used me as their patsy to pay for it. The most ethically unsound company I’ve ever hired from, you should all be ashamed of yourselves.
Not happy at all – The are out of stock for a one way trip to gosford and want me to do a two way when i pay by the km 365km one way trip

Disgusting vehicle – View smells like oil and grease Seat covers feel oily , now clothes we had on smell like grease/oil. The smell is through the air conditioning, and burns your eyes when it's on unless a window is open. Would not recommend using budget tuggerah.
Truck rental confusing prices. vastly overpriced – Rented a truck from hoppers crossing. Estimated rates were vastly different from the final rates. It took ages for my email to be answered as well. if you book with them, double check all the figures as they did not include the GST or many other charges in the estimated rate. I won't go with them again. The staff were friendly, so no complaints about them. Would not recommend going to Budget. Show details
Rude and Unhelpful – Drove into Budget Truck Rental yard in Preston and went to office with paperwork. Opening greeting from behind the counter was "Get your vehicle off our property!" (Thanks for the greeting and where was the sign saying no entry?). On return tried to charge us for 2 days hire (for what had been 3 hours use) Next time another franchise or Avis. Business Owner: Wheelton Investments P/L.
Customer Service Terrible - Tuggerah Branch – Would never rent anything from Budget again! Staff were rude and less than helpfull upon pick up. Contacted Budget to rent a moving van and asked if I could leave my vehicle on premisis overnight which I was told I could. Upon pick up was told I can not do that and to park out in the street in 1hr parking! Told them I would not rent if I couldnt… Read more
park as pre arranged then they reluctantly decided I could park on premisis.
The insurance on the vehicles is also another rort by budget. Initial price for hire is with a $6800 excess if you damage anything... $6800! If you pay $36 extra at pick up the excess is reduced to $1700. You would be mad not to pay the $36 incase there was an accident, Either way Budget wins. Pay $36 for $1700 excess or pay nearly $7000 if you crash because you didnt pay the extra $36.
All staff have a very negative attitude to customers and everything is an incovenience to them. Was dissapointed to be hit with a klm rate at the end of hire with no free klm in the initial price like other hire companies have. Upon returning the truck I was accused of not filling the diesel tank up enough even though it was above the full mark on the guage. Again they were trying anything to extort money from me again.
The vehicle its self had water coming in through the passanger window and was very noisy with wind leaks in the cab. Probably been in an accident and badly repaired!
I will never use Budget for anything and wish I read the reviews before using the company.
Very poor customer service – Very very disappointed & gobsmacked!!! We hired a Renault Van for 2 days & on the morning of the 2nd day, the van wouldn’t start. Rang roadside assist but unfortunately they weren’t able to help. Rang Budget & they advised they’ll send out their service technician so already we had lost 1/2 a day. After several phone calls to & fro with Budget,… Read more
they advised us that it’s our responsibility to get ourselves back to our original destination AT OUR OWN COST coz it’s not their protocol to help their customers with transportation or the cost of transportation even though their hired vehicle failed !!!!! Where’s the customer service??? We were stuck on the Southside of Brisbane & had to find our own way back to the Northside of Brisbane !!! Not happy & won’t use or recommend using Budget to anyone
Discrimination – They are discriminate against LGBTQIA+ community and the disabled. Rude horrible people, that caused my move many issues, extra charges, told to go to Uhaul. Accussed of stealing the truck, talked down on and I have 3 witnesses. They refused to contact for investigation.
Bad review – You will 100 percent regret using them they are very bad
Waist of time – Tried to book a 8.5 meter tray top truck they have no idea where and how much is the daily charge this is all from Phillipines call centre good one budget
Budget truck rental Clayton – Booked truck for 1 day hire, confirmation email with terms and conditions of rental. Rang and confirmed booking, arrived to pick up rental with my visa debit card only to be told that we needed a credit card (which I don’t have) explained and showed confirmation email with the terms clearly stated. Their policy was anything that needed an… Read more
endorsed license for needed a credit card, ask where that was on the email, told me that as a franchise they can make their own terms and conditions. Would have been nice to know this before rental. Had to organise another party to come down, over 3 hours lost….got the truck and a HUGE sticker on back stating that you can drive this on a car licence and then they charged me a credit card fee for paying via said credit card. HORRIBLE SERVICE AVOID IF YOU CAN AND HIRE FROM SOMEONE ELSE.

NEVER BOOK ONLINE. Absolutely useless – If you need to book from Budget, call the location directly, NEVER BOOK ONLINE. Even if you have a confirmation from booking online, there’s definitely no guarantee your vehicle/s will be there upon pick up. I needed three 12 seater vans for one week for a student field trip in a regional location. I emailed Budget so I could get all three… Read more
reservations done in one go. Firstly, they tried to quote me an extra $5000 EACH VAN for the week than what was quoted on the website. After many emails back and forth about this, I sent them a screenshot of their website with my quote and only then did they finally amend their price and confirmed my bookings. I did this a couple of months in advance.
I emailed them again a week before the trip to double check everything and to ask about payment options and additional drivers. All this was fine and my reservations were always promptly updated. Everything was good to go!
A few days before my flight, I called the local Budget at the pick-up location (lovely people, absolutely no fault with them) to double check everything and they told me they had not been given any of my reservations, and they don’t know why the reservations were confirmed because they just did not have the vans there.
I called Budget’s main number to ask how this could have happened and how my reservations could be confirmed at all, let alone for MONTHS, when that number of vans have never even been at the location. The person I spoke to said there’s nothing he can do about it, and that I probably should have just called the location directly. No apology. I didn’t know I needed to call the location directly, otherwise I would have. What is the point of having an online booking system when they don’t communicate with the location??
It was just lucky that I called the local Budget beforehand to double check and so I had time to quickly make other arrangements with a different rental company, otherwise we would have turned up to a regional location on a Sunday with a bunch of students and no transportation for them.
Great service great price – Fantastic service at Reynella SA Adelaide Guys were helpful, very thorough, efficient, stayed back after hours for me to drop off truck on Christmas eve. Outstanding service from the young man there. Definitely recommend
be aware of :' or similar" – booked a high top 1.8 t van on the Friday for pick up on the Saturday. The van set aside was neither high top nor 1.8 t. it was a standard 1 t van. when i said that this is not what i had booked, was told by the Budget rep it was " or similar " not similar at all....................too small. luckily they had a truck available in an hour which i waiting for and then took. Disappointment with Budget Truck Hire Toowoomba – Had a Truck hired trough the Toowoomba QLD and they ask me to sign the pictures of the actual condition of the truck without giving me a opportunity to check the truck for any damage. 5 days later they called me saying that they found damage on the truck while I rent it. I have asked for pictures and noticed that they took some pictures in the… Read more
shade one day before my rental and said that there was no damage. The picture that should be showing the damaged area is not clear and is under the shade like someone tried to hide previous damage. My fault is that I did not checked the condition of the truck before and I have trusted them to be honest. I will never going to use their business and would recommend to whoever is renting trough them to check very thorough and have your own pictures.
Budget: Customer service 0 - Truck gets 2 – I hired a truck from Budget in Melb city and the truck was the only good part of this experience. Customer service when I arrived had a ‘I don’t care attitude’ and made me feel like an inconvenience. While I was driving to return the truck I called ahead to advise I would be returning the truck early, just before 5pm (their shut off time) the… Read more
lady on the phone was quick to point out I wouldn’t make it and there will be extra charges. I was quite taken back as she wasn’t even in the area and my booking was to the following day - so there were no extra charges.
I dropped the truck off on time and it’s been over a week and still haven’t even received a response to my email enquiry on my booking and costs. Not surprisingly, when I returned the truck they advised there was no message of my expected arrival.
Horrible experience, won’t be back! The truck was in great condition and didn’t break down, so that’s two stars
Truck hire .les – Budget Deer Park dealt with Justin, curtoius, friendly great service would recommend Have dealt with other hire company's, only needed it for 3 hours good rates, if I didn't return by then And he closed at 12 noon, no problem to bring next morning, for a small fee. The best I ever found, great guy thanks Justin
Good value – Hired a van recently (twice) from Budget Artarmon. Very impressed with the price etc. There was cosmetic damage to the ceiling which my friend said was there before we squeezed our stuff in, but still I worried they might say I had caused it, but seems no such issues. (Totally different experience to what I had in England with I think Eurocars… Read more
when I didn't record an existing tiny scratch on a hub cap and they tried to hit me with a charge!) I will continue to hire from Budget Artarmon if I need to again.
Car reservation – Was meant to pick up a car rental Sunday at 1pm as my car has to be taken to garage on Monday morning. I work in Surrey Hills and start work Monday morning at 8am. When I arrived at Dandenong Budget nobody was there. I rang customer service and they weren't any help they suggested driving to the airport which is 1.5hrs drive so 3hrs in total… Read more
also petrol and city link costs. Which they weren't willing to pay. Really disappointed as now I will loose one days pay from work and have to try and pick it up Monday morning. Very disappointing. Would not recommend Budget car and truck rentals.
Dodgy behaviour – We had been using Budget in Artarmon every week for the past 4 years! All these years we had only once scratched a van and of course we accepted to pay around $300 for repair. Now they took $1,597 without any authorisation and discussion for a scratch we never did and they say it happened during our booking 4 weeks ago. We cannot accept this… Read more
behaviour and definetely cannot accept a scratch we never did. And they took all these money without letting us know. We are sorting the matter now with Fair Trading!
Mostly positive, but – PRO - Booking a Van on the Budget website was super easy. I got me confirmation email immediately. CON - The day after booking, I got a call from the specific office, advising me that they do not have a van available for me on the day, but that they want to offer me a small truck for the same price. (obviously I had to pay for a higher fuel… Read more
consumption on the bigger truck)
PRO - On pickup, I was impressed with the staff's (a very young man) competence and professionalism. 5-stars for that!! CON - The truck was difficult to drive - only needed a car licence to drive. If it was not for my husband (who has a truck licence and had specific training), I would not have managed. The truck was not in good condition and had issues with gear changes (automatic), which let it stall on uphill roads.
Great Service at the Hoppers Crossing location – I hired a truck from Budget in Hoppers Crossing not once, but twice in the past few days. I was originally meant to move house on Friday, but a screw up with the bank delayed that til Monday. As a result, I had to return the truck early and they gave me a discount for returning it early and I explained my situation and they gave me a discount on… Read more
the second booking, meaning they did everything in their power to make my inconvenient situation as good as they could, even though it wasn't their fault and they had no obligation to help me out. Thank you to Ashley/Ashleigh from Budget from really helping me out and going above and beyond.
John Cully Pty Ltd Trading as Budget car and truck rental are liars and their trucks are not insured – Liars. I rented a truck on their website. It stated that the rent included a LDW (Loss Damage Waiver). And I also paid for an extra waiver for the excess fees, which they said that this extra waiver which reduces the excess in the case of an incident does not cover overhead damage. But it was clearly stated that the basic cover (LDW) covers all of… Read more
the budget truck without any limitation. I sent the driver to pick up the truck and they made him sign on a 15 pages contract which says - contrary to what they state on their website! - that even the LDW is limited and overhead damage is not covered. If you have already paid on the website and just going there to pick up the truck, how can put different terms and conditions!!! And who will read 15 pages when he collects the truck!!!! When you take the keys, you will be surprised with a big sticker on the front windshield stating that the vehicle is not insured at all!!! The driver made an accident (overhead damage). All repairers estimated $15,000 to repair the truck. Budget sent me an invoice for $45,000. They claimed that the chassis was affected! After some discussions and negotiations they said that when they removed some stuff from the shelter, the chassis was found to be not affected!!! And that around $27,000 are fine!! Awful experience, continuous lies. This is not a fraudulent company, it's even worse.
