Buildwest

Stay away – I agree with the above review. We renovated with buildwest. Initial contact was great until I signed the contract then attitude changed. We also had ceilings collapse we had two flooding disasters as they did not tarp. We had to use our own insurance company as they would not cover the damage that they caused. It was a nightmare and so were they. I would not recommend buildwest.
Destroyed our Home – Researched second story additions and Build West Pty Ltd also known as Boulevard Homes put together a great presentation but did not follow through. In fact they wrecked our existing residence, and personal belongings. All our internal ceilings collapsed onto us in the middle of the night after days of warning Build West it was going to happen - as we were collecting bucket loads of water running out of our internal ceilings (where we were living) because they did not tarp the construction area properly. They have stopped work and will not answer our questions as quote 'they do not have to'. It is 10 months on and they have not finished and have not fixed the damage to our existing residence they have caused - still no internal ceilings, heating or insulation. They do not build to plan or to Australian Standards or the Building Code as evidenced by our Building Inspection Report and they do not care. We are now at the Building Commission, do not use this company, they are currently advertising for new business. DO NOT USE THEM. We don't want anyone to endure the nightmare we are still living. Our children have been deeply affected by this disastrous experience.
Buildwest – In mid 2007 i signed a contract with Buildwest to have an extension built onto the front of my home.Although the works were scheduled to take 4 to 6 months, contract stated 150 days, Buildwest abandoned the works at the end of 2008 in an incomplete state.Buildwest were unprofessional, evasive and insincere in their dealings with me.They were slow to carry out the works and at times there were no workmen on site for weeks and then months at a time and my requests to be informed when the works would be completed were ignored.
Some highlights of my dealings with Buildwest were, a lack of supervision during the job.
The plans were changed and variations made without my knowledge and consent.
Constant disputes when workmanship issues were raised. My partner and I would have to point out to them how bad the work was and that it didnt comply to australian standards. This extended to the builder disputing with an inspector from the Builders Registration Board basic requirements like flashings to windows.
I had conversations in my house recorded by Buildwest without my knowledge or consent.
I was issued the bill for final payment before the works were completed and even the amount was incorrect, yet despite my informing them of this i was subjected to the threat of legal action by their lawyer if i did not pay the amount in full. Even after paying the amount in full within the time specified to protect my credit rating, Buildwest lodged a caveat against my property.
To this day that caveat is still lodged against my property as Buildwest refused to remove it.
I had a bailiff turn up at my home to issue me with a summons over a month after i had already paid the final amount in full.
Buildwest effectively abandoned the job at the end of 2008,ignoring calls to rectify work as noted by my building inspector and to this day i still have not even had a handover.
I have had to spend years fighting to have the work completed properly in the Building Disputes Tribunal, who would issue orders but had no power to make the builder meet those orders, let alone do the work properly
Orders to remedy issued by the Building Disputes Tribunal were either not completed or done very poorly.More often than not, when an item was "rectified" damage was caused somewhere else.
Twice i had to lodge orders to pay in the magistrates court to have payments made that were ordered against Buildwest by the Building Disputes Tribunal, the second of which resulted in the magistrate ordering an arrest warrant be lodged against the owner of Buildwest.
.
This experience has cost me a lot more than the contract price.
Due to the stress of dealing with Buildwest, the relationship with my partner broke down about a year and a half into a job that we were assured would take four to six months from start to finish.Even after all of this i am still up for tens of thousands of dollars to have the work completed as it should have been done in the first place. If you are happy to accept sub-standard,non compliant work with a complete lack of customer service-choose Buildwest.
substandard, non compliant work and a complete lack of customer service
