I have been using Bushells Extra Strong leaf tea for many years. It is no longer strong and it leaves lots of tea leaves floating which it never did. Since the new smaller packaging this tea has gone down hill. It’s not enjoyable anymore.
Very disappointed in the new pack - and new price. From $1.60/100 gm to $1.95/100 gm. That is a huge price increase and, as other people have noted, the tea is dusty and not strong at all. This is not ok. I have been drinking Bushells all my life, and 66 years later I have to find a new brand.
Pathetic ! Have just purchased the new packet of Bushells Extra Strong loose leaf tea only to realise it is now packaged up into 180gr not the usual 250gr pack for the same money! Have purchased this brand of tea only for decades. NO MORE. I will take my business elsewhere. Show details
String design is terrible. 25% of the tea bag's strings come off in the cup. Show details
Bought this tea in Coles, Helensvale QLD. Last packet was weak, but this packet I bought is far from strong. It's weak as, and tastes like you have used the dregs of tea leaves. Tried to email my complaint, but keeps saying undeliverable! Very disappointing from a popular company. Didn't keep receipt, so cannot take it back. Show details
Utter rubbish box full of loose tea Definatly something wrong
Good quality product but the glue that attached the bag to the string and the tag to the string is faulty and needs to be remedied. Annoying and will be looking for alternative product if subsequent bags are found to be faulty. I do not require a refund but my enjoyment of your product has been diminished by this experience. Please address this inadequacy. Show details
Bushells extra strength tea bags – The tea is fine although closer to normal strength, however the tags are less than 50% usable as they come off Show details
Bushells Extra Strong has changed – I have been buying Bushells Extra Strong loose leaf tea for years. It has recently changed and has less flavour and is full of dust like an opened teabag. Large residue left in bottom of pot and cup that falls through even the finest strainer. So disappointing. I now have to try all the other brands to find a good strong LEAF tea.
sub standard quality – Sub standard quality Have been using bushells extra strong leaf tea for quite some time. The last three purchases have been very disappointing there is so much dust which leaves horrible residue. Is there a problem, will have to change. Patricia Brown
Revolting – I have used this loose leaf tea for years, but sadly the quality has declined to the point that the lastest purchase from Woolworths Grafton is undrinkable. The packet says blended and packed in Indonesia. The source of the actual tea is not disclosed. Also on the packet it says that they support Australian farmers! What happened to Ceylon tea? This definitely isnt. It actually tastes like a bad Turkish tea. Never again. Thats it for me. Show details
Faculty Tea Bags – Brought these tea bags and the string has come off on every tea bag causing a hole and tea leaves leak out. I have tried contacting Bushells, but I am unable to see any website, the only thing I can find is a facebook page
it’s perfect and delicious – bushells extra strong tea is absolutely amazing, it has a nice strong taste to it that i love, it’s pretty sweet and just really good in general, i recommend it!

Gradual decline in quality – Decline in quality in loose leaf variety over last couple of years. Have bought it for many years and it is disappointing that Bushells clearly no longer cares what their product tastes like. Dusty, tasteless and a shadow of its former quality. I will no longer buy this product as I am sick of companies reducing quality and increasing the price. Shame on Bushells.
More like extra weak – We bought and tried the Bushell's extra strong teabags for the first time and they are largely tasteless and even weaker than the standard tea bags of some other brands. If false advertising is a Bushells' KPI, they nailed it. I rarely provide reviews and this is probably only my second negative one. I poured actually most of my cuppa out and… Read more
made a Yorkshire cuppa which was so much stronger and flavoursome. Bushells did once make quality products but if they beleive this is extra strong, then it puts me off their other products as their descriptions probably also do not reflect the reality.
Love Bushells Extra Strong! – Lovely strong tea by Bushells, it makes a wonderful cuppa with a great full flavour, I love their classic coffee as well, Bushells Extra Strong (tea), you can't go wrong ;) Show details
Woeful. False Advertising. Don't Buy – Having enjoyed tetley extra strong for years my wife brought home some some of this floor sweepings stuff and I need 2 bags to make it strong. Also the bags have plastic unlike many other brands. Bushells: not fit for purpose!!! Show details
Weak A.F – How Bushells have the audacity to claim this product as "extra strong" is utterly beyond me. It is a barely palatable weak black tea, not offensive as such, but completely lacking character or strength. If you actually do like a strong tea, perhaps Taylor's Yorkshire, Proper Strong is the go. I only bought this swill because my preferred options were not in stock and I had never tried this....give it a miss! Show details
Disappointing decline in quality and taste – Having used this product almost exclusively over many years we have noted a rapid reduction in the sizing of the tea until of late it is almost like dust. This has resulted in a considerable loss of the taste. Show details
A great stonger tea ffrom Bushells – I have always preferred Bushells tea and occasionally I like to have a stronger cup of tea which makes these tea bags great. I prefer this brand to other stronger flavoured brands such as Dilmah. Great taste
