Loving my chopping board from Byron Bay chopping boards, I just wash it with soap, dry in the dish rack and them display it at the back of my kitchen to keep it dry, I give it a little board care oil every now and again, thank you for this beautiful kitchen item

I love my board. I have it for about 3 months and no problems. I just wash with soapy water. I use MCT Coconut oil once a month on it to keep the timber nice. I would recommend drying it before putting away in your cupboard. I use mine to chop cooked meat on. I plan to purchase some more boards. I purchased my board in Sydney from a Fruit & Veg shop. Show reply

Despite following all care instructions including applying the very expensive oil, my board has grown mould. I emailed the company who told me to sand it and keep using it. This is very disappointing - how would I know I removed all the mould!!? I bought these expensive boards as an apparently healthier option. Don’t buy them!

policy would provide a great experience. I was proven to be wrong. Within two months of using one of the boards, it started growing mould—despite me meticulously following all of their care instructions. As someone with plenty of experience using wooden chopping boards, I know how to properly maintain them.

Naturally, I reached out via email for assistance, expecting some kind of professional solution. Instead, I was met with rudeness and blame from [Name Removed], who I assume is the owner. His responses were incredibly dismissive, including statements like, "I’m not sure what is happening in your kitchen" and claiming the board was “bashed up,” despite it being in perfect condition when I received it. He even had the audacity to say he had “never seen any board grow mould like that before.” I’m sorry, [Name Removed], but I’m not the problem here—the board you sold me is!

It was clear to me that this was a defective product, and all I wanted was a solution. Instead, [Name Removed] repeatedly tried to pin the fault on me and then, after I refuted his accusations, he completely ignored three of my emails politely asking for a follow up. What kind of business operates like this? I

This is where I am truly disappointed: I was genuinely excited about recommending these boards to my family—so much so that I even bought one for my mum. After this nightmare, I will NEVER purchase from them again, and I will warn everyone I know to stay far away.

If you’re looking for quality, honesty, and decent customer service, DO NOT buy from Australian Byron Bay Chopping Boards. Their refusal to acknowledge the defective nature of their product, paired with their appalling customer service, is unforgivable. Do yourself a favor and buy elsewhere.

I’ve shared the responses below so you can see the treatment which I received. I am so disappointed as I really enjoyed using these boards and carried out MONTHS of research. I’ve been using wooden boards for 5+ years and have NEVER seen this occur.

she followed all their care instructions. When she reached out for help, Simon—who seems to be the owner—was extremely rude, trying to blame her. He made comments like, “I’m not sure what is happening in your kitchen” and claimed the board was “bashed up,” even though it wasn’t. After she challenged his accusations, he simply ignored her emails.

This company’s customer service is a joke, and they refuse to acknowledge the defect in their product. I will never buy from them and would strongly advise others not to either.

Unfortunately, [Name Removed] continuously blames us, and ignored all of our follow up emails. He cannot take responsibility or accountability which demonstrates POOR SERVICE AND OWNERSHIP. He has had time to respond to our reviews below with the initial response he sent.

Love these boards – We now have about six of these boards. All have beautiful grain and scent. Great Australian Company to deal with. Recently had a board arrived with some damage from transit. The company was very responsive, had the board repaired and threw in a small cheese board for the inconvenience. Still amazes me that even though old, the boards when oiled still give off a great camphor scent. Photo of our new board, 1.2 metres long.

also appreciated the emails to say it was being prepared and posted. I would recommend you watch how you wrap it - wrapping paper doesn't cut it with the oil. I learnt the hard way, but two sheets of paper was a good short term solution :)

Great product- BAD Service!!! – Major stuff around with postage, hence me having to go to a wedding without my gift (a chopping board). It finally showed up 3 days after the wedding with no help from the seller. Very disappointed as he was ever so helpful to make the sale happen but very dismissive when it came to sorting out the problem!! Just a shame to have such poor customer service skills for such talent with the beautiful wood & engraving!!
