I've had the Caroma Urban II cleanflush with bidet for some months now. Great toilet, love the no-rim clean flush feature, and also love the slim line. The bidet is easy to use; it also has a self-clean feature. The remote comes with the bidet, or you can control it on the side of the unit. It's a fantastic clean-line bidet/toilet. The bidet has… Read more

four heat settings for the seat, water, and air. You can also set the toilet seat to automatically open and close.

The biggest issue with the bidet is the reset unit is within the toilet unit. It's extremely hard to lift the bidet seat out of the toilet unit and reach under the pipes to locate the reset button.

I had to call my electrician over 15 times to come & reset the toilet for me as it kept shutting down, which means you cannot use the bidet features until it's reset. I also had the electrician to relocate the reset unit outside of the toilet.

My plumber put in a service call to Caroma as the reset should only go out when power goes off. Caroma service were really easy to deal with, kept me updated when service would be. The bidet unit was replaced within 14 days, and the plumber told me this is a known issue with the unit & they are working on it.

Very happy with the new toilet. After much research and deliberation I decided on this one. So many toilets to choose from with lots of unhappy customers and reviews. I consulted our plumber who recommended Caroma toilets for any future parts needs and that it is made for the Australian market. The toilet has the rimless feature which works well… Read more

and does not create over spray. Also the seat is a good height, with a solid build that stays put and integrates well with the toilet suite.

Of particular note, is the near vertical wall at the back of the drop zone. This means when one is positioned accordingly, there are virtually no skid marks! Amazing, it should be written into law.

I have read reviews that are less than favorable and considered those along with the positive ones. It should be noted that the warranty on the toilet seat is 10 years and that it may stain if you don't clean it as recommended. NO BLEACH.

I am grateful for the time taken by the lengthy reviewer that went through all the mentioned issues and helped to allay my concerns.

I bought 2 units from Tradelink who were great to deal with and did a price match with a competitor.

This product has exceeded my expectations.

Comfortable to use, easy to clean and looks sleek – I did lots of research to find the right toilet, and within reason, was prepared to pay what I needed to to land on the right one. We were not disappointed with this Caroma toilet. There were a few considerations that went into our decision, and they delivered. 1. The height ---------------------- With a tall husband and two growing boys, we… Read more

wanted a suite that was high enough to be comfortable. Many of the other Caroma toilets we tested were very low. Thankfully, it’s still comfortable for those not so tall (me).

2. The design -----------------------

Although I’m not totally sold on the importance of a rimless toilet for hygiene (does it really matter?) we decided we may as well go with it. Thankfully this toilet doesn’t appear to have issues with water splashing out when you flush, which apparently is a common design flaw.

It also doesn’t seem to have that unfortunately named “shelf” that is known to collect unwanted mess inside. It’s very easy to clean and stays clean for a while. The seat is also very easy to remove for cleaning. It's also very comfortable to sit on!

3. The flush --------------------

Water efficiency rating is important to us, but not if it means you have to flush multiple times to do the job. Thankfully, this one seems to only need one flush most of the time.

It’s definitely more expensive than a few comparable options, but I’m pleased we spent the extra on what appears, so far, to be a quality product. It's comfortable to use, easy to clean and looks sleek in our newly renovated powder room.

I wish we had never purchased it – Initially we had many problems with the installation of the toilet, with Caroma being partially responsible for the problem. Ultimately (after months of having a leaking toilet) that was resolved. What hasn't been resolved is the yellowing of the toilet seat. It has no stain resistance whatsoever. Within a few weeks the underside of the seat was… Read more

yellow. Our plumber advised us to contact them for a replacement, which we did, and Caroma did send us a replacement. Initially though they sent us the wrong one, so more hassle. Finally got a new seat. We were informed by Caroma not to use bleach or anti bacterial products on the toilet seat. We have followed those instructions and a year down the track, the underside of the toilet seat is again yellow and gross. Our other toilet seat is more than 10 years old and does not have a mark on it. Although the service from Caroma has been helpful thus far, I would never buy another Caroma product.

*Update* Following an email from me regarding my dissatisfaction with the toilet seat, they have offered again to provide a replacement. They offered 3 options, one of which is made from a different material, so that is the one I opted for. Fingers crossed it has a normal level of stain resistance. So again, customer service has been positive, product quality of the new toilet seat remains to be seen.

Caroma Urbane 2 cleanflush best toilet and warranty out there i did the research – Hi well i needed 2 toilets for my home reno, i am a roofer/builder of 40 years and i do my research, i don't get what people are on about giving bad reviews on this toilet, really why are you saying it does not flush, or it sprays water on the floor, blah blah that it total rubbish, i read all the reviews and was not going to buy it, the reviews… Read more ·  1

turned me off Caroma, so i spent days looking around with my wife for a quality toilet and money was not the issue i was prepared to pay i went to all the local bathroom outlets and got offered various brands from so many different manufactures , all the bull about this comes from Italy, or whatever, and don't buy Caroma its made in china all that stuff, in the end we started wondering what are we going to buy they all get bad reviews, sales people push what they stock and bag the others Really after hours on the net, yes i did a lot of research as i heard about these rimless toilets don't flush properly all that, so we were worried i did not want to retile 2 bathrooms with faulty toilets, my wife said ask our plumber he has been our plumber for years , he suggested the Caroma, So as they all seemed to have bad reviews, no one seemed to promote any only there stock, we thought screw it lets just get the Caroma, i went back and back and back again to H&G looking at all there brands, but in the end went to Harveys and the sales girl said why are you buying this Caroma, she said they have issues, she said the toilet seats break, and seats only have 1 year warranty, i argued nicely and told her no its 5 years, she would not back down, just said don't buy it they don't flush properly, and wanted us to buy a more expensive toilet made by Arcisan, so i left and called Caroma outside the store at harveys, and Caroma confirmed its 5 years on the seat that's better than any other warranty out there, also 20 years on the pan and system, you cant beat that, the Aricsan was 2 years, most are 2 years many are 1 year on seat, Caromas 5 year seat and 20 year china cannot be beat can it ? i am writing this long review as i am pretty annoyed i spent so much time trying to find a decent toilet and some of these bad reviews just put me off and wasted so much time bottom line here, both toilets have been installed, i can tell you 100 percent, they flush no problem, one push of the full flush its done, all this rubbish they don't flush is nonsense, why do people do these bad reviews i do not understand, it flush's, it does not spray water on the floor, definite no water that is more nonsense, it has the best warranty, and another obvious thing you can always get parts Caroma is designed for OZ, parts are easy to get, what is not to like, so parts, flush, warranty, and the price is below most of these supposed better toilets that have tiny warranty's, big price, and parts well who knows i have nothing to do with Caroma, zero, don't waste time like i did, you cant beat this model, it just really bugs me you read reviews to try and help make a correct purchase but why do some write these silly reviews, why did one say he has to flush 3 times, really what are you doing, total nonsense, and the other saying he would rather use the bush come on why the bad review, anyway bought from Harvey $799 but also got a $25 gift voucher so toilet cost was $774 thats pretty good for a warranty and style it is a good looker too, one thing to mention Urbane 11 is a tall toilet i wanted that, go the Luna if you want a bit lower, all good now, just dont overthink it like i did, just by a caroma and get on with it.....

Save your money – Overpriced, terrible and noisy flush... have to flush 3 times. Why would a toilet made in china be so expensive.... Beats me. We bought another toilet for our ensuite with easy clean ceramic, cheaper and flushes much better.

Worst toilet ever, I would prefer to poo in the bush – There are a number of issues with this toilet but I’m only listing the top three: 1. Toilet seat is long and therefore when wiping ones bottom, placing more weight on one side of the toilet seat, the hinges stress out and the seat moves. Had to replace toilet seat twice thus far. 2. Toilet flush does not wet the whole perimeter of the bowl. Get… Read more

used to using the toilet brush, and I’m not one that has not required to use a toilet brush prior to this toilet. 3. Worst of, the toilet spits water out of the bowl and on to your legs. Crappy toilet – I'm glad I'm not the only person unimpressed by these toilets. All the same issues, half flush is useless, full flush for number 2 needs a double flush. What a waste of money and bad for their brand. Out of my 4 toilets 3 of them the soft closer has died after 4 years. Would never buy a caroma product again. Show details

Over priced. Similar faults as others. No half flush. Inadequate flush – Caroma has been serving me well for years. We built the present house and moved in last year. We bought three urbane toilets. All bought and installed by the horrible builder lat 37. I liked the style. No bends or tap connections seen. ( this feature could be a disadvantage. What if you want to add a hand flush or an bidet toilet seat needing a… Read more

water source. )

Now I see the same problems as others. A wee bit high. Needs more than one flush for number two and the remaining water still appeared coloured. Crap frequently sticks to the s bend under the water-line and stained easily quickly. Occasionally water gets sprayed out of the bowl. Filling up is slow.

The one question I have is that why have half flush and full flush buttons. Both work exactly the same. You either press the buttons till the flushing stops Or it stops flushing as soon as the buttons are released. The amount of flushing is the same for either buttons and always needs at least two flushes for poo.

A Dirge for my Dunny – A Lament to my Loo Pooper Prose? I wanted a basic, decent loo that was solid and would last. Over the years, I’d replaced cisterns and seats and, well, if normal shopping is boring, that is sheer drudgery. Given my marked lack of interest in the purchase, the salesperson recommended a Caroma Urbane Cleanflush unit at nearly $1000. Ouch. This… Read more

wasn’t a bidet or anything fancy, but she pointed out that it was rimless – so, (supposedly!!) clean – and the smooth lines straight to the floor and wall behind meant none of the old-fashioned nooks and crannies to clean gross fluff and hair from.

I think she probably pointed out a lot of other brilliant attributes – for the price, I want to hope so – but honestly, once she said “it’s best feature is that it has a wide, deep throat” I was too busy trying to repress giggles to take in another word. Instead, I just signed over my savings.

However, I’m reasonably sure that what she didn’t mention was that the seat: 1: has a porous underside that stains within the first week of being used. 2. Is a soft-close. Which is great. Unless someone else wants to use the bathroom within five minutes, because then that lid will still be S-L-O-W-L-Y closing on your shame. Even without COVID, I have incredibly clean hands from unnecessarily continuing to wash them while I wait for that damn lid to close before I leave the room. 3. It’s impossible to clean the area between the seat and the lid hinge. Well, unless you use a Q-tip, that is. I am not that houseproud. I’d rather put my energy into being grumpy about the design fail. 4. I’m not one for hanging around in the loo, and I’ve never considered ‘comfort factors’ into my porcelain purchases, but I’m quite certain she did NOT mention that the seat, which is narrow, oddly-shaped and made of some fiendish material that has all the comfort of marble, is freaking cold.

I mean, not just a little squeal-inducing chilly kind of cold, but colder than Mawson’s hut.

Like you’ve just dropped your daks and leaned your butt against the side of an igloo cold.

The kind of cold that instantly freezes your liquid assets – which makes being in the bathroom kind of pointless.

The kind of cold that shoots stalagmites of ice through your jaw and into your molars.

The kind of cold that could be used if you’re into cryonics.

I know this seems a ridiculous complaint, on a par with the multiple reviews that warned my washing machine was too deep for height-challenged people to reach into (spoiler: the reviews were right, I have to use tongs to pull out the clothes) but this actually has the potential to create health issues: I mean, how long is it safe to cross your legs and hold it, rather than subject yourself to the glacial agony of a bathroom visit?

I suppose if you run a full house and want to avoid any dawdling, this toilet could be your jam - or prevent traffic jams :-) I know my dad will definitely never shift his library collection into there, unlike the outdoor dunny on the farm, so there is that.

The other fact is the rimless flush. It swooshes a bit of water at the front and sides, but nowhere near covers all the surfaces. The long drop (no pun intended) leads to splashing and the ceramic sides stain. Oh, and one other thing: holy hell, it is tall. I assumed that toilets are all the same height. I was wrong. I’m about 153cm, and if I was any shorter, I would need a stepping stool to mount this Pedestal of Pain.

I’m trying to keep positive, assuring myself it’ll be great when I get older, as I won’t have any knee or hip issues trying to lift ‘up’ to get off the Throne of Torture. Except my butt will be frozen to it in any case, right? Ah, First World Problems.

I’m off to place several layers of loo paper on the seat in an effort to insulate it.

Don't buy it. Even a Bunnings brand toilet is better quality – Bought this toilet suite as part of my new build thinking that Caroma is a good brand for toilet. Less than 2 years and the cistern is leaking and was told that the internal mechanism only has one year warranty. I've had no brand toilet suites in all my previous properties and they have NEVER leaked, after over 10 years. Terrible product. Show details

Bad Choice! – I paid top dollar because of the name Caroma but it has been a disappointing purchase for a number of reasons. 1- Sediment sticks to the porcelain much more than a cheaper toilet, it is only 8 months old and it has a brown sediment stain on the bottom of the s-bend. 2- It picks up.. how to put this discreetly..skid marks every time someone does… Read more

number 2. 3- the cistern takes forever to fill. 4- It has a rubber connector on the s-bend before it penetrates the floor, where as a normal toilet is porcelain all the way into the floor (my plumber said to me "when you smell something putrid in years to come, its because that connector has gone". Very disappointing purchase, I will replace in a year or so regardless.

Very disappointed – We bought and did a total house reno mid 2018. I purchased 3 Caroma Urban toilets. have waited for the future until they were more improved! Their appearance is excellent. I like the height because I have tricky knees and it is very easy for me to lower and rise, though it certainly would not want to be even a fraction higher. If you have small children a standard ladder style toilet frame will not fit because of the height. We have had to put a plank on the floor under the legs of frame. From the onset my husband has complained that when he flushes, water sprays out and hits his leg. I only hope that it is clean water because my greatest dislike of this toilet is that it does not flush well. It must be costing us a fortune in water bills. You cannot flush and walk away. No matter what goes in the bowl. The only way a number 2 will disappear is to "hold your finger on the full flush until it empties" and then you often have to repeat that same process. The old toilets from this house were Caroma and bought in 1986. I am very disappointed with the functioning of these new models.

Clean and simple – Love the rimless design as there's no extra breeding ground under the rim. Was worried water would splash out, but it doesn't. Nice idea, but – For me, these are the good points. This toilet is very high, which would make it great for tall people like myself, and also for old people with bad hips, as long as they are tall enough. ceramic or very rigid/thick plastic. The rimless design is very sleek and easy to clean, however there are caveats, and serious ones. The seat. It is very hard and very cold especially in winter. Being a tall toilet, the distance down to the water is quite far, which creates a lot of splashback. This means the mess sometimes spreads far and wide and even splashes water onto one's backside, not a nice feeling at all. The seat, is hard as stone and i know everyone is differently shaped but i have never been uncomfortable on a toilet before this one, the rim of the seat is very narrow and digs into the sciatic nerves in the buttocks. Not a problem if its a quick one but we all know it's not always quick. The soft closing lid/seat seams like a gimmick. Its easier to just push it up/down rather than nudge it and stand there waiting for it to reach its destination, it's kind of silly. Now for the biggest down side. Even on full flush, due to the new rimless design, the back of the bowl gets almost no water directly on it. It requires brushing every time. Not trying to be funny but it's like no real world testing was done before putting this loo on the market. Big pricetag. Poor results. If anyone knows of a tall toilet that does what it should please share.

Great design – The Caroma Urbane clean flush works great & isn’t noisy at all. It fills up fast & holds plenty of water to flush multiple times if needed after cleaning/brushing etc. The Caroma urbane clean flush cleans & flushers so much better then cheaper toilets. Looks great too & once again is not noisy what so ever.

Noisy flush – I wanted a caroma toilet as the original one we replaced had been there for years and we had no problems.Happy with the rimless design and the bowl is easy to clean but this is one of the noisiest flushes i have ever heard. If i could change it over i would but given the price we paid this is not an option. Also seems to get dirty easily right at the bottom and you really need to get the brush right in the bend to keep it clean

Brush to clean – Does not clean after using it for full flush have to use cleaning brush. Very disappointed it replaced another Caroma Cavelle after 27 years could not get parts. Works ok on just the half flush. Also agree height of toilet, not a tall person feet on toes. Not good for children or short users.

Caroma Urbane Cleanflush Toilet Suite – We just got ours for a reasonable price of $729 in Brisbane. and 4.5litres with the right button. To date it has worked great with that but if you hold down the button you get eight litres which is just under the old style toilets.

With eight litres you should be able to flush anything but those trying to save money on water should not do that on the No 2 flush or you might end up blocking the pipes like some do on all toilets using the new water saving flush. I'll use the eight litres for the No. 2 as I do not want to have my pipes blocked. Like I said this can happen with any toilet if you use not enough water.

The pipes for our "S" type toilet were a breeze to install and overall we could not have bought a better toilet and the rimless is easy to clean. You have just got to judge for yourself if you like the height of the bowl as it is a bit higher than most. It suits us.

There is nothing else to say but just buy it.

December 5th 2017 Update: Caroma Urbane Cleanflush Toilet is great for us.

I may not be the toilet that is the problem but the amount of water being used by new water saving toilets.

Using this low amount of water will find some with blocked pipes.

Just use the full a flush for number ones (4.5l) and there will be no yellow left behind and hold the button down all the way for the full flush of 8 litres for number twos. You need to hold it until it is fully flushed then you should not have any problems.

By doing that you get a reasonable amount of water flowing and the pipes should not get blocked. The old toilets were about 9 litres and 4.5 litres.

Only good for very tall family – As per the first review. Good design with no rim so no need for toilet duck anymore and yes it hide the inlet and outlet pipe. One very important flaw is that the height of the toilet is approx 30mm higher than most toilet. I'm 175cm and it ok but not ideal but missus and especially kids find it terrible to use. Now I need to search for another toilet for replacement and finding one that enclosed the inlet and outlet pipe will be very hard.

A sleek design to modernise a bathroom – The Caroma clean flush system has no rim in the basin, hence easier to clean, the soft close lid and back to the wall feature enhance the bathroom design by hiding the inlet and outlet pipes. Not cheap but well worth the $873 we paid. Caroma's website have a rrp of $998.
