SRT V8 beast – Looks mean. Power to boot. Looks way better than the other Ford and Holden V8s. Plus it makes more power. Definitely bang for buck machine. But like all V8s, fuel consumption is high. Unbeatable soundtrack though. Show details

Test drive was good, 1 week later I picked up the 300c and payed 20k then had to buy new springs – Suspension had to be changed, as you where bouncing up and down, as someone didn't no what they where doing All over the place couldn't put passenger's in the back seat or go over 70 kl 2 k later i Now can enjoy my chrylser 300c sedan, car yards just never change... June 5th 2018 Update: Best Car I have ever owned

Well now I am up to 225,000km on my 2007 Chrysler Hemi V8 and over three years I have travelled about 60,000km

in this car, Changed a set of tyres Two Door Handles and two tyre sensors and thats it apart from regular 10,000km grease and oil changes

Very reliable uses no water or oil whatsoever. Just about to service it and replace wheel bearings all around and reckon I will be OK for another 60,000 trouble free kms . The new ones are magic and so cheap at $65,000 Thats my next goal a STR8 Core 6.4litre V8 as good as a Bentley

at a tenth of the price.

November 5th 2018 Update: Had to do some work but still best car value for money I have had

Now have 231,000km on clock and done 65,000km over last 3 years apart from 10,000km service I have had to

do the following items

4 Wheel Bearing Obnly needed one but did the 4

Two Tyres

Handrbrake shoes

Oil Sensor switch

Lower left Tie Rod End

Two door Handles

Wiper b lades

few light bulbs

That's it never broke down still great to drive comfortable as ever

Fantstic powerful motor and auto

Chews a bit of fuel locally but OK on open road

Absolute junk – I got a 2006 build 300c 5.7 v8. Worse car I have ever owned. 92,000kms and it's ready for the scrapyard. A lot of little things breaking. E.g door handles. Automatic power widows. in the engine which causes valve seats to drop, destroying engine and costing you several thousands of dollars in repairs.

I spent $8500 on engine repairs which took 8 weeks. When the engine died and the car was towed to my local Chrysler dealer they acted surprised at complete engine failure at 92,000kms. They pretty much said, go find a second hand engine and we will fit it for you. I did a lot of searches online and found that the 5.7L hemi engines are known to fail prematurely. Since Chrysler USA put these engines in many of the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge products they apparently fix engine failure from dropping valve seats for free. A good way to keep customers happy and keep them returning. But Chrysler AU were happy to charge to fix it.

I ended up taking it to a mechanic that was recommended by a family member and he rebuilt the engine and told me to sell the car ASAP. His orginal quotes were circa $12,000 to fix. I told him I couldn't afford it so he spent a lot of time researching it and found a way to fix for only $8500.

A couple of months before engine failure the drivers door handle fell off. Chrysler claimed it couldn't be fixed, it had to be replaced. There was apparently only one drivers door handle in Australia and it was in Melbourne. From memory it was about $330 to buy the handle and have it fitted. Due to the 300c being uncommon car, there are very few at scrape yards, so you don't even have the option of getting cheap parts from there. When you do find a scrape yard with parts they always seam to be halfway across the country. You have very little options so you either pay for new parts, of have them shipped from across the country or even the USA.

Cannot recommend this vehicle unless you buy two of them and keep one in your shed and take parts of it as you need to. Looks ok Expensive service and parts, heavy on fuel, engine is junk. Fit and finish could be better.

a 6.1 Litre V8 the fuel economy is amazing. I get 10.5 L/100km on the freeway. And around the outer suburbs where I live, I get between 15 and 16L/100km. I think this is good considering that my previous 6cyl Avalon was getting 13.5l/100. I think the extra 3L per 100Km is easily justified considering the level of luxury and power that this car has. The car goes up steep hills like it was on a flat road. Other cars are easily left behind

The thing to remember with these cars is that they are an import. A lot of money can be saved by buying parts directly from USA, and getting your local mechanic to install them. Chrysler Australia seems to charge a lot for parts which can be bought from overseas at around 1/3 to 1/4 the price you will get them from the dealer here. Eg. Local dealer wanted $800 to replace 16 spark plugs! - I bought the correct genuine mopar spark plugs from Amazon for $120 delivered! Another example is that the local dealer wanted $600 to install 20 new wheel nuts. You can get 20 aftermarket wheel nuts from ebay USA for $30 delivered!!

Chrysler dealers in Australia charge $300 for a replacement remote key fob. I bought replacement rubber buttons from eBay for $15 delivered.

I needed to also replace my sway bar links. $500 or so from Chrysler - $50 a pair from eBay + $80 installation at the local mechanic. No brainer!

And yes, like another person said here, my transmission locking device broke. But, I checked the 300C forums and found the way to fix it myself - cost me $0 (luckily mine broke in my driveway). But FWIW - You can buy the entire Shifter assembly from USA for about $150 + shipping. Or modify the part before it breaks - It can be fixed by drilling a hole and inserting a split pin and re attaching the spring.

Another thing is that the transmission needs "resetting" every 6 months because it starts to get a bit rough - But a "reset" makes it feel like new again (the dealers seem to do this for free - if you ask nicely).

20" tires are expensive for this car, but you can get cheap tires now for about $100 each from eBay. If you get a good brand of tire they will cost you about $450 each!

So, my advise is to buy one of these cars being fully informed. A used 300C is a solid reliable luxury car. Still gets lots of attention, and all your friends and family will want to ride in it. Everyone who rides with me says how smooth and quiet and comfortable it is.

It is a genuine luxury car, but at a bargain price. Get your parts from USA, and have the "regular" service performed at your local "normal" mechanic - and then servicing costs will be the same as any other V8 car ($160 - $180 for oil and filter change).

Remember - it's a car, things break on all cars, and you do need to maintain them. But by all means buy one if you want one. You won't regret it. Styling. Comfort. Power. It's one of the most solid cars on the road. When you close the door it sounds like a Chrysler :) Parts do need to come from USA if you want to save a lot of money. Insurance on the SRT8 is Exy.

Our car had started to play up loose power (turbo didn't kick in) and the engine light was coming on and off, he took it to our mechanic who ran a diagnostic report which showed the DPF did not automatically clean out at 100,000km (we are now on 120,000km) and advised us this is a fault within the car looking to be between $6k-$8k to fix! I rang Chrysler Head Office to get the ring around till a Manager spoke to me we were told to send to our local dealer who would be sent an email to open a "case" on the vehicle. We go down first thing in the morning, they know nothing about it few phone calls later and $121 to do there diagnostic report which showed the same as what we had told them and shown them from our mechanic.

All the information was then sent to a regional manager who without talking to us immediately just said no we are then told that because it's out of warranty and we have had the car serviced through a non Chrysler mechanic (mind you our Mechanic does our local Chrysler work and offered way better service than what the dealers did) and they felt there was no need to offer any good will. Good Will?! How about standing behind your product! The car is only 5 years old, immaculate service history, fully detailed and will now cost us $6k-$8k to have road worthy!! I appreciates car's are expensive and this car has not been any different with services costing $700-$900 a pop but $6k-$8k at such a young age! Beware! breaks and leaves people stranded. There is an aluminum product available on the after market. I believe it is the same fault for a few other Chryslers built on the same platform.

2. bonnet struts failed when they where almost 4 years old to the day.

3. some of the weather seals have failed through wearing away, I assume the rubber is to soft.

4. Bolts that hold door hinges on have a poor finish and acquire surface rust.

5. Paint finish on the inside edges of the external door handles started peeling after 1 months. Overall reliable, comfortable long distance vehicle, excessive power, reasonable build finish, awesome presence. Shifter mechanism failed so that I could not drive anywhere. Needed to be towed.

Beautiful Luxury Car at a Genuine Bargain Price – Mine is a 2010 3.5 Litre V6. Had it one year now and it has been absolutely faultless. 11litres per 100 k's/ at 110km/h. It looks awesome, build quality is better than I hoped for (Built in Austria with Mercedes input), and people never stop admiring it and talking to me about the car. I have had several brand new cars in the last 5 years but I will probably never sell this car, it's a keeper. Besides, they won't be making this classic retro muscle shape again. New model looks like a Maxima. Styling, Price, Economy, Retro Feel, Finish. Everybody wants a ride in it.

Headturner for young and old – Just love it. The CRD just loves to be driven sedately. It is very distinctive but the driver never sees just how good it looks (unless he lets the missus drive it!). your 300c from a nearby dealer, pay the servicing costs, be prepared for failures, and you'll have the best looking car in town. It must be the best looking car around - distinctive - sex on a stick. Outrageous economy from the CRD. Quiet and smooth on the highway. On to my third set of wheels due to crazing - even Hyundai can do better than that. Brake shudder at 30,000Km. Cheap plasticky electric window controls. Wiper control stick needed replacing. Electric windows need 'resetting' every now and then. Inlet manifold motor seized (glad I paid out for the extended warranty). Expensive servicing. Got 50,000+ out of my tyres, but at $400 a tyre, pricey.

Good – This is for people looking to stand out from the crowd, I have driven the diesel and there is no compromise, plenty of low down torque gives great take off acceleration and overtaking speed, plus the benefit of good fuel economy.
