parties and their call centre is based overseas, so it was clear that no one knew what was going on. It was an absolute shambles, and no one at the call centre rang me back when they said they would.

Update: Citymove responded to my email after I posted this review, and we have come to a resolution. I hope they can use this experience to improve their service.

What a waste of a good move – After completing a big move, the company blew any advocacy they had with me after failing to resolve a double billing of the job. I get it, sometimes you make a mistake, but after weeks of contacting the company (including the CEO), I received no emails or calls offering a solution to the matter. It feels like they just don’t care at all, so my recommendation is to find someone else who will care.

Efficient courteous service – The move was of a 3 bed house with a 15 minute drive between locations, starting and finishing on time. The 3 removal men were excellent, hardworking, and careful, ensuring everything went to the right rooms all done with great courtesy and good humour.  Show details

citymove regarding timing etc was very painful and limited.

Subbie only arrived at 7pm, causing us to change our travel plans with additional cost. Subbie arrived wearing thongs, didn't have any tools, and immediately started demanding extra money as they argued that the volume was more than they were told (despite not measuring).

On dropoff once again 7pm arrival, manager on phone telling me if I didn't pay an extra 800 immediately then they wouldn't unload the truck. After yelling on the phone for ten minutes they then demanded an additional 150 for stairs (despite my having informed citymove of stairs). No communication from citymove to subbie regarding payments already made. The subbie broke our bed and damaged our staircase.

Moving went fine, refund for the canceled services is nowhere to be seen – Initially I booked moving out + storage + moving in services, but in a few days it turned out I can do the move in one day. I canceled the storage service and one day of the truck + movers, but only got refunded for the storage. It has been a month, the phone support is giving me promises but nothing is happening. Update (01/12/17) : After submitting the original version of this review, I was contacted by a representative, who promised to resolve the refund issue. After that, for two weeks there has been no communication from them whatsoever, and when I tried to call the phone number I was given (multiple times), nobody even answered the call. I am changing my review from 2 stars to 1. Terrible customer service.

The movers were so careful with our belongings – We moved out of our two bedroom apartment. Vinny and Ali both so professional. They were careful with our belongings. They looked after every aspect of the move. I'll be recommending them to my friends.  Show details

Great guys and very obliging – Move was a 3 bedroom townhouse. Lot of expensive furniture. The boys took great care overall. Only one thing to remember, when putting the washing machine and dryer in need to switch them on!!!!  Show details

They have always been so helpful and good to me – I just had an apartment to move but 2x locations for pick up (as some things in storage). This is the 2nd time I have had Vinnie and Victor move me and they have always taken care with my things and they make it fun too. Incompetent and careless with belongings – Moved a small storage unit, 5 cubic metres. Interstate move, Melbourne to Sydney. saying he was on his way much to my surprise. Obviously I was not in Melbourne.

I called City Move and they said they would reschedule the move but would need to check the phone recording. I heard nothing so was worried, called them, they couldn't find the call recording so they booked the move, no extra charge.

The Friday before the move I received no confirmation call or email, had to call them. Initially I was told that my move was now on Friday, which of course I was annoyed about, but once I spoke to the operation manager, she confirmed it was for Monday and gave me a pickup window of 4 hours and the same for the next day delivery.

On the day of the move I didn't get a call from the driver and rang them again to confirm they were coming.

The driver turned up a few minutes later, luckily I called as I would have been unprepared for arrival.

I had all my good stacked ready for pickup, the driver said I had more than 5 cubic metres. This was baffling to me as my storage unit was 1.5 X 1.5 stacked 1.5m high.

The driver said he would take the boxes and not my furniture and started loading the truck.

I got my tape measure out and measured the stuff and came up with 5.22 cubic metres which i told the driver and he ignored.

He called his manager who could not help me and suggested I book again next week. I told her it was 5.22 cubic metres, no comment.

I watched them load the truck and noticed the minimal moving blankets and minimal ties. The two items of furniture they took was not wrapped in blankets.

The next day, I received a call from the driver saying they were 45 minutes away. The unload was straight forward, however my plastic tubs were broken and the two items of furniture were badly scuffed and dinged. My timber chest was treated as another box on unload.

Overall, I gave City Move every opportunity to do a good job, but they let themselves down on many occasions in the office and with the move itself. City Move offers a cheap backload service, so if you have only boxes and no furniture this would be a good option. Otherwise seek service elsewhere.

Great moving experience last week – These guys were fantastic. Came in with very short notice to pack my things up on the Wednesday and move Friday morning. They were all done by lunch including dropping a few things on the way to another address and moved other furniture around at new address. All fragile items bubble wrapped then blankets then shrink wrapped. Still not sure how they did it so quick. Would have taken me a week to do what they did in 6 hours. Gary F  Show details

asked without fuss or damage. The cost was one of the best (and most accurate) quotes I found. The only thing to be aware of (and may apply with other movers as well) is that the pick-up and drop-off times are not locked in, but may change by a day in the last couple of days as they set up the backload. Times are then given in windows, so it can be tricky to figure out how to plan an interstate flight for yourself within that schedule. All went smoothly though.

was too late for us. At the higher cost we would have just disposed of the item rather then have it shipped to Melbourne. Needless to say, they were happy to pick it up at the agreed lower price. They did not return our calls and when we finally spoke to the correct people they were very rude. Essentially holding us for ransom for misquoting. Threatening us with legal actions and all sort of fees for storage etc. As a result we had to get our solicitor involved which subsequently made them agree to a very small partially reduction. Making me aware that there are better, honest and reliable firms out there that I should be using! Misquotation, terrible service, being held for ransom, threatened with legal actions.

Their customer service was reasonable and their charges likewise. Their website looks great! They did not use professionally trained Aussie removalists; the men who did the job were not trained in manual handling procedures and removal techniques.
