Coles Rolled Oats

How to get instant quick, rolled soft oats – I only use about 300ml of boiled water from my electric jug and add it to a heat-proof Pyrex glass 500ml measuring jug together with the rolled oats that already has been chopped with a Kmart stick mixer - just to give it that syrupy look after 8 minutes of stirring with a tablespoon now and then, even though, it is not necessary to chop up every grain just to get that soft crunchy taste. So you get the best of both worlds - instant quick, rolled soft oats together with some of my favourite tinned fruit salad or peach slices.

Coles Rolled linoleum flakes breakfast treat ? – I have given this product many chances, but it's a fail ,each time. The rolled grain is so hard and seemingly impenetrable to water, no matter how long I pre-soak it, it still cooks out very (too) firm. Even the Aldi 'sub par' equivalent does a better job, ( albeit littered with undesirable shrapnel and contaminants that should have been removed during processing). "Porridge" should be a simple and consistent endeavour, not a grocery lottery. I can't figure out why this rolled grain would be so hard to begin with. Is it old, the wrong grain variety, not processed properly, not toasted, stored incorrectly? Whatever it is, the chooks are happier than I am. This rolled oats version even makes a different noise in containers than other brands. (You can hear how much harder it is against the container walls. ) I'm sure the 'extra roughage' is good for me ,but crunching away on pre-soaked properly cooked rolled oats, dressed in milk, is not where it's at. ( and Quick Oats is not the 'whole grained' solution I prefer. ) https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-rolled-oats-value-pack-1.8-kg-4972693
