Ideal generic ice cream for people on tight budgets but still want flavour.
After trying the 'Smart Buy' Neapolitan ice cream (2 litre because the only 4 litre they had of this was Vanilla - out of stock of Neapolitan at the time and I wanted more than just 1 flavour) I found it not too bad. Either way, whichever size tub you buy, this brand is cheaper than leading brands of ice cream today (why pay extra for a rich sweet taste that this generic can offer at less than that as well as a fancy brand name?) The chocolate flavour in the Neapolitan is not too rich, but still has a smooth creamy taste, as does the strawberry...flavour. Since I am not a fussy eater when it comes to products such as this, I feel a tub of Smart Buy ice cream (any size) will do nicely in my freezer. If it came in 5 litre buckets (which my local Coles does have, but not of this brand, and of course is more expensive) I would consider one, but I am content with their 2 and 4 litre tub varieties. Great taste, not too heavy on the wallet, and if you have kids who like ice cream and don't care what brand it is, this is for them too. Recommended for people with a sweet tooth on a budget. Good value for the money, and not bland-tasting. Would definitely buy a tub of Coles Smart Buy ice cream again. 5/5 Tastes great, value for money, ideal for the whole family, and you are not paying for a fancy brand name. None. I like ice cream in general, regardless of flavour or brand name.
Inexpensive and great quality
I have purchased the Vanilla\ flavour of this ice cream and have found it very close to Streets Blue Ribbon with the extra creamy taste and not that pale white colour. A great addition to my freezer for use plain or in milkshakes. Try it. And even better there is 2litre for around $2.15.
Fresh and creamy. Not icy.
Questions & Answers
Why does the 4L container of ice cream measures only 3L?
I bought a 4L ice cream and kept the container for future purpose. After consuming the ice cream, I decided to buy a four 1L Connoisseur Ice cream and tried to put it into the 4L container because it is easier to scoop and put into cones (for children).
But I was surprised that only three fitted the container. Was it just me, or Coles/Woolworths are cheating on their 4L ice creams?!
