Concerns re CBA BANK actions and regulations re accounts and Credit cards – PLEASE PERSEVERE AND READ THIS AS WHICH BANK HAS CHANGED! Seems long term customers are no longer rewarded. Also that some staff are not at all helpful not consist as this card utlised for a few years, has had the regulations changed. Given the Reserve interest Bank rate fell some time ago and with it savings accounts, the same did not happen… Read more

with credit cards. The interest remaining at 13.99% and a whopping 21% if anyone wanted a cash advance!! Savings stuck on 0.05% on pensioner accounts and 0% on cheque accounts. In mid 2023 information was that there would not only be an increase in card fee but also that the new cost annually be $72 but charged monthly at $6 and every month charged on the card? Not only is it a nuisance if zero balance for a couple or three months in paying up $6 or else interest it is presumed and if spreading a couple of purchases over a couple of months. Mid this year another message was received stating credit card paper statements would cease and info sent via email. ( While the internet and email is a great tool, should power fail or internet not working to enable obtain balances, and needing to rely on paper statement it EMAIL IS NOT SECURE SHOULD SOMEONE SCAM OR THE STATEMENT NOT ARRIVE AND NO KNOWing WHERE IT HAS GONE?

Following a call and checking on line the options changing it back to paper, the statement did not arrive, the call stating I required paper statement leaving me not knowing the details even after accessing statement on line which would not download full statement only a list of credits and debits. No opening balance or closing balance, specific statement period dates, interest rates. I contacted the bank and a helpful assistant rectified the problem and reimbursing the monthly fees for August and September, October and November on the general statement pages. However the September / October statement failed to appear in the mail. November arriving in the post but no credits listed of the card fee. This despite request a complaint had be lodged directly with CBA. When the October / November 2024 statement arrived ( still no Sept one but the check on line only debits and credits) on forensic accounting in checking through the statements to ascertain the amount owed by a certain date so as not to incur a hefty late payment fee of interest charges, was able to determine that every statement since August was incorrect in balance. ( 4x $6 credited to online accoount not appearing on statements ...counts not marrying up re dates.

I lodged a compliant with AFCA who promptly made contact in response and then a CBA officer who deals with such.. they would take the matter up with the bank but no guarantees this understanding officer at the bank offering as a resolution a small remuneration re the future fee charges and assurance of paper delivery including copies of corrected statements as when checked on line showed as active. I accepted this " goodwill payment" applied to the credit card and which is expected to appear on the next statement. However the new statements requested when arriving were still not corrected as refunds applied three months ago were NOT Listed. After speaking with the bank again and three different operatives who stated different reasons such as the credits were applied after the statements had been sent ( which wasnt so), that they will appear on the December 2024 statement due ( $24 or 4x$6) and that they had been credited on the 8th Nov?? So why three months to credit it to the paper statements? This such that my statement balance is $24 shy and should I not include that in amount owing be short in payment if clearing balance by end of months and incurring interest? One suggestion from CBA is that I change my credit card to a better option. On reviewing the cards an option of one ( if spending $300 a month on card but only a $3 fee monthly is totally unacceptable) "a seemingly catch you out " option re ones financial management. other alternatives offering cards at 20.99% interest charges. As to offer of usage purchases of $ 1000? a year as someone stated then no annual charge . Financial manipulation?? Am angry as we have been associated with this bank for many decades, since a child, home loans, credit cards and accounts into which we placed money for safe keeping. Recently a scam debit appeared on Complete Access account from an overseas company not ever known or utilised, the card not used here in recent times or scanned by anyone else or cheque written, but no reason as to how or why... as to amount pending on cheque account which CBA failed to provide feedback but the amount sitting there for almost a month when funds were transferred out of that account to reduce balance so to deter loss given a pending amount eventually disappearing?

I am very concerned that this major bank ( once government owned but privatised/ sold off) is changing their regulations to suit their agendas but which seemingly unethical and outside the requirements of adequate provision of detailed information with limited care or consideration for their customers, re security . This costing more for a service but reducing those services but when customers call, are told some spin about difference in time / appearance between statements and transitional records when any intelligent humanbeing knows that they should be accurate and correlate, not requiring hours of calculation and cross checking when on line these accounts DO NOT SHOW A RUNNING BALANCE, WHEN PAYMENTS AND PURCHASES CREDITS AND DEBITS MADE ONLY A CURRENT BALANCE ? This agreed with by the CBA agent dealing with AFCA agreed. One might say, change banks. However this is not always an easy option and why should customers be intimidated in changing their banking institution at loss to them when onus SHOULD rest with banks to provide a fair and equitable service. Is why I am posting this to increase awareness of what is happening in this country.

Cheap tactic by commonwealth credit card – I am using comm low rate Gold card nearly year. Suddenly, last month statement small letter specifying your international transaction rate increased 0 to 3.5%. Who reads statement in details? Better to have communication email like other banks. It cause 200 plus additional international transection charges. It happens, no complain, but spreading awareness on cheap banking tactics. Show details

Customer Support is very lacking – I purchased items from overseas using this credit card. It was my first time I've had a credit card with CBA. Unfortunately the seller was dishonest and I wanted to lodge a dispute the transaction as they never sent me the product. With most other banks, in this situation, I could send a copy of the disputed transaction along with my contact… Read more

history with the seller, and they could investigate and reverse the transaction.

Sadly, with CBA they do not offer any such service. I contacted them multiple times, was referred to call them (could not get through, over an hour waiting), was referred to use their chatbot (which went no where), and then messaged their customer service team who simply referred me to phone their call centre.

I then lodged a complaint, and their "Customer Relations" "investigated " my situation and their conclusion was also to refer me back to their call centre.

CBA offered no support at all and only wanted to fob me off. I would not recommend the CBA for credit cards as you will have no protection or access to customer service at all.

Great card, great app, service meh – Card is advertised as low fee ($29) but if you spend at least $1000 annually with it, there are no annual fees. As with most mastercards, it also incurs a 3% charge for international payments (made in international currencies or sometimes those processed by international companies in aud). I don't use this card for international shopping anymore… Read more

though as there are other companies without an international transaction fee.

I use this card mainly for online shopping, because I keep a low balance on it and if it gets stolen online, it's credit card MasterCard guarantee means CBA will dispute charges on my behalf of the are unauthorised transactions or transactions where I don't receive goods as described etc, where seller is a large store.

Late payment fees of $20 seem standard, and teaches me to be organized with my money. Interest rate after 55 days is around 20%.

The CBA app is amazing, and pretty much a market leader, though I find ING is pretty close behind, albeit uglier layout.

You can lock, cancel, or lock card from international online transactions/international in store transactions (for specified times of indefinitely) so I find this my most secure card. I leave mine locked to int transactions, then turn on for an hour when I use it online.

Service from the Commonwealth Bank used to be very good but in the last 4 years it's been horrible. Happened round about the time they opened up a new call centre around 2015, and started mass hiring Tbh. Still crap now. Almost everyone I speak to gives me misinformation and I have to call back to verify or ask other things as my query wasn't resolved. A few times I've had to involve their manager as they were incorrect, rude AND stubborn about being wrong.

However, I still use the card due to good their app is, and the no-fee if spending $1000+, which easily can be done.

Good card but be careful of fees and online fraud – This is a no fee card providing you spend a $1000 annually with it and pay due amounts within 55 days. If you do not spend more than a $1000 annually then this card incurs a $29 annual service fee. This card also incurs a 3% charge for payments made in international currencies. I use this card mainly for purchasing items online from reputable… Read more

established company's. Be warned this card only provides protection against, like most credit cards, unauthorised fraudulent charges. If you buy something online and get duped then there are no protections given by purchasing with this credit card. You have to file a complaint with your bank, costs a lodgement fee, and then your bank will contact the defaulting parties bank and request a funds reversal which then has to be approved by the account holder who defrauded you in the first place, like to guess the chances of this being successful? The current interest rate for outstanding amounts not paid within 55 days is 19.74%. If you don't pay the minimum monthly amount by the due date there is a late payment fee of $20 plus interest incurred. At this rate charges can accumulate quickly so good advice would be to pay out the card monthly before the due date. The service from the Commonwealth Bank is very good and the banks website for managing this card online is good but could be improved. In summary this is a good credit card if you need one for online purchases or as a backup for emergencies, providing you make repayments regularly and within the 55 days interest free limit.

Check your statement carefully! – Overall I'm happy with this card, I pay the balance in full each month so don't care about the interest rate, only care that it has no annual fee if you spend at least $1000 a year on it, which I do anyway. So I was not happy to see on my latest statement an annual fee of $29.00, especially as the same thing happened a year ago. Rang them and… Read more

told them my problem, the guy who answered checked and said I'd only spent (about) $160. Told him I had my latest statement in front of me where the balance due for the month was over $1400. He put me on hold for a while... when he came back he was very apologetic and said I would be credited the $29 and said something about "system error"..... as it's happened two years in a row I can't help wondering if they do it on purpose, hoping it won't be noticed??!!

I guess I shouldn't complain as effectively I have a free credit card - just so long as I don't mind spending an age on hold when I ring up each year about the incorrectly charged annual fee!

Very good with low fees – Very easy to use the card and also card less transactions with Comm bank. Easy to make payments and transfer money. I will recommend this card to my friends and family. however it would be best if the card included some extra features like travel insurance (while travelling overseas) etc. Show details

Excellent card for the budget conscious – I have held this card for more than 30 years now and I have never looked back. Its a credit card, nothing else, what you see is what you get. No frills, no rewards program, no bonus points. But ALSO: No annual card fee, variable credit limit, reasonable interest free period and an interest rate that compares well to other cards. kept a positive balance in the card account so I have not paid any interest or incurred any costs in all the years I have had the card. I have twice had to cancel it due to unauthorised third party transactions after I had used the card overseas. The 24/7 support I received was excellent, with a new card issued within days each time and no financial loss i.e. instant refunds of the unauthorised transactions. I can only highly recommend this card, you get exactly the same service and benefit as you would from other cards which charge substantial fees.

Glad I was able to recover the money I lost – Last year I lost quite a huge some of money  after my account got hacked.. the bank turned a blind eye. Was honestly such a horrible experience but I'm glad to say that i've finally been able to recover all the money i lost huge thanks to Payback Service. I've always been skeptical about asset recovery companies but i'm glad i gave them a chance. If you've also lost money online you should check them out to help you get your money back

Great Credit Card for Everyday Use – I use this credit card for everyday grocery shopping, travel tickets. If you spend $1000 per year, the $29 annual fee is waived off. I really like this Mastercard credit card. It has high international transaction fees so not really good for international shopping. Show details

Good for salary packaging purposes, but keep in mind no rewards – Essentially a no-fee credit card for me as it's easy to spend $1000 per year and have the fee waived, but it doesn't come with any rewards schemes. Useful for salary packaging living expenses on credit card repayments. I don't use this card overseas because it'd incur 3% international transaction fees. I did not transfer my balance to this card. Show details

Good value – Like other reviews, there are not fees if you spend over $1000 and like the name suggests it is low fee credit card. The app to navigate this card to check balance and usage is simple. Have not used it overseas, however I use it for slightly bigger purchases rather than my debit card as you get 55 days interest free period. Downside is you can't earn rewards for spending, however works out if you don't have to pay an annual fee. Show details

I had this for a year and it was great – I've always banked at Commonwealth and I often get emails about their low free credit card. I signed up when they had $300 cash back offer. Since I am banking with CBA, it is very easy to pay the credit card. I can transfer the money and it's deposited right away into my credit card. Customer service care is excellent, I love their online chat. Show details

Low rate but competitive rewards – With a $59 annual fee, i am happy with this card. I normally pay outstanding amount on time. There were occasions when i could not pay on time, but bank was very good and did not charge me anything, late payment fees etc. If you're eligible, you may get Qantas FF points linked to this card so you can benefit after spending bank's money (for 55days) and be rewarded with FF points. Show details

love it, so handy – It is a very handy card, with no annual fee (spending $1000 a year is just too easy), I use it for every day purchases. It's very useful to monitor my spending, and I can accumulate some interest in my savings account before I pay off the bill. When I got a charge I did not recognise I got my money back easily, within a couple of days after I made the complaint. Show details

It is a good option for students – The bank low fee card is definitely a good option for students as CBA waives the fees. However, the drawbacks are also obvious. if your card is stolen and used by others. NEVER use it overseas. DON'T use the travel money card of CBA neither. The exchange rates in CAB suck and it is not easy to transfer the money into another account if the money is less than 10. I cancelled this card as soon as I graduated.
