Merrylands – Contours Merrylands is great & always friendly. I'm so puzzled by some of these comments. I've been going for over a year now. The staff are great & I get phone calls if I haven't for awhile. They have the regular machines plus treadmills, spin bikes, rowing machine, cross trainers, great variety of classes too. There is a safe area for kids to… Read more

play in & for me I could train there before work & shower & get ready for work there. The sad thing now is I've left that job & now have to find a Contours close to home. I'm going to miss the girls & great facilities.

Great support and friendly environment to train in – I have been a member at Contours Altona Meadows for 3 years and I am now more confident, healthier and stronger lady. What a joke!!!! Never sign up with contours!!! – Signed up in feb 2013 where I was told that their policy is they call you if you don't go, never went back due to personal circumstances, after 3 months I sent email to cancel membership due to financial difficulties, reply was that I had to move 22km away or have letter from doctor before I could cancel. 8 months later still no word from anyone… Read more

Cancel membership as I moved the req'd distance, sent complaint email to contours who came back with they hadn't contacted me as I requested to cancel a while ago!!! I was still a paying customer, all they care about is your hard earned money... I will never ever join another gym as long as I live, much rather go for a walk!!!!!!!

Contours Dulwich Hill - Extremely Dissapointed – I was a member of Contours Dulwich Hill for a period of 3 years. I didn't mind that the gym had hardly any equipment because it was close to my house, realistically for the cost of membership there really isn't much there to get a decent workout in. I moved out of the area recently and decided to cancel my membership, this place was closed… Read more

right through the New Years period, the week after new years it was only open until 4pm. This made it impossible for me to get in there and talk to someone about cancelling my membership. I sent an email on the 3rd giving my 1 months notice which can technically be interpreted as 28 days.

On the 25th of January I got a call from my Bank saying that my card had been compromised, The bank issued me with a new card which took 5 days to arrive in the post after which time I informed all of my monthly subscription providers of the new card details. I didn't give contours my new card details.. I didn't even think to because in my mind I considered my subscription cancelled.. I didn't think that contours were going to charge me for the month because when I asked at the beginning of January I didn't receive a definitive reply, I was just told that "maybe I won't be charged, it depends on "THEM"" (By 'them' I can only assume that the receptionist was referring to the person responsible for processing payments).

I received a poorly written email on the 4th of Feb informing me that they tried to charge my monthly subscription and that the payment failed. They hit me up for a $20.07 'failed payment' fee on top of the payment that they were talking our for the month of February. (bear in mind that I had no intention of using the Gym in February and this payment was just taken out of Greed). They took both of these payments out of my newly issued card after requesting for my card details over the phone.

The administrators of this Gym have no integrity and are poor communicators. They don't reliably correspond via email and in my honest opinion don't conduct their administration processes in a professional manner. Slow to respond via email when you want to cancel but extremely fast (and rude) to respond in the event that your payment fails.

I hope they enjoy the fee they charged me for services I had no intention of consuming.. Close to my house Poor communication, poor administration processes

Cairns Contours – I can imagine if you didn't have dedicated and helpful staff then Contours would be terrible, but fortunately I've found the Cairns branch to have very supportive and enthusiastic staff members. short intervals and rotations as it seems to make the session go quicker. If you want a harder workout then they have classes that push you more, or simply change the levels on the machines. I think a great deal of people expect the attention you get at the start to continue throughout, which I think is unrealistic. If you want that kind of attention get a personal trainer. Mind you I find the staff here are always willing to help, you just need to ask! I really like this gym but it obviously isn't for everyone, so try before you buy. Quick and fast moving sessions, don't have to wait for equipment, smells nice, equipment suits size, supportive staff. I miss the access to classes other gyms provide as part of package.

Totally recommend Contours Emu Plains – Hi All, I workout at the Contours at Emu Plains and have done for some time now and find it fantastic. pushing myself with the lovely help of the trainers there. Speaking of the trainers, they are great and really work with you, to improve your fitness and achieve your goals what ever your fitness level. The gym itself has recently been taken over which can be sometimes good and sometimes bad, but the new owner is lovely and a great trainer I might add. She has made the environment even more inviting with scented candles and flowers amongst other things, which has further added something special to a already positive, great feeling place. Price wise you are getting value for money as its like a personal training session each time you visited without paying huge fees for your own personal trainer so I feel im getting great value for a quality product.

So, overall, I am very satisfied, and recommend to anyone in the Emu Plains or Blue Mountains area to go and see the friendly girls from Contours Emu Plains and let them get you enjoying and achieving your goals in a fun, friendly, non threating environment. Fun, Friendly, 29 min workout, Great trainers, Great atmosphere.

Only interested in momey – I received a voucher for 5 free day trial at Contours. When I told her I was going to see if work-cover would pay the fees for me she told me that this was my last day as my five free days had to include Sunday(when they are closed). I was quite surprised by this attitude as it makes no difference to them if I'm there for the extra day. It's not like I'm taking someone else's place. They are only friendly and helpful if they think you are going to pay their fees. I am definitely not joining now. Only women Too mercenary

Excellent – I workout at the Cairns branch in Mulgrave Road and find it a great experience. It took a bit of getting used to a smaller gym after using larger ones in the past, but the personal service and the convenience make up for that, as far as I'm concerned. could only be done at the risk of injuring myself (and I did), or the weights were set too low and there was no exercise resistance. teh trainer was simply totally disinterested in me and helping me set a program to work to. I never returned after my first vist and I found a better gym and joined it, reluctantly disapointing the person who had bought me my Contours gym membership gift. local, not too far to travel to attend. My one month membership was a gift so it did not cost me ~ anything aside from injury due to a thoughtless disinterested trainer Everything. the trainer was totally disinterested in me. Good – This system is designed to give the busy working woman/mum a chance to get an all-over workout (so to speak) in 30 minutes. In my opinion it is better than nothing. womens' only so it attracts a lot of 'real' women who like to just get on with it in privacy. I't really good to see a lot of older women and very large women working out. Some women bring their babies or toddlers who watch them from the pram or stroller. At my branch there is no creche but most who bring their kids cope quite well. It is a friendly environment but if you are not a really social person it could get too 'familiar' and sometimes it can feel like the staff are interrogating you if you do something out of the ordinary like stretch after your warm up (you are 'supposed' to stretch at the end) and they politely ask if 'everything is okay?'. Not the place if you are into serious cardio or like to completely do your own thing. It has its uses and market. You can always supplement it with your own cardio workouts in your own time as I try to do and just use the gym twice a week for the weight machines. If the place is full, you have to end up doing the annoying jogging on the spot in between though, whether you like it or not. Clean, staff on hand, friendly. Easy to understand what to do. Does not smell like foot odour. Affordable Not enough cardio machines. You mostly have to stick to a set routine. Too much resistance work. You work out in a circle facing others.

that you must give the centre a months notice for leaving otherwise they can trap you into another month or so. I go twice a week and i really don't look forward to going at these times and i will continue to do so until my membership is finished. In my opinion a normal gym offers a variety of exercise facilities that will keep you motivated. quick exercising, especially for the busy mum. SOME staff are very motivating and enthuse you to exercise. When these particular staff members are on duty, its a pleasure to exercise. Don't offer child minding service. The circuit becomes quite boring after months of being involved in the program. Some staff seem de-motivated. Some staff aren't very helpful once you have joined. A number of occasions i have asked staff questions where they said they will get back to me, but never do because they are too busy reeling in new customers. Staff are meant to do weight check-ups on you every month, and are meant to come to you to make the next appointment for a checkup. I have been there now for 5 months and have only had 2 weight checkups.

the circle anywhere. There were certain times it was a bit crowded. I could live with that. My pet hate was the aerobics section. For those unfamiliar with the place, the activities are in a large circle of stations, alternating with gym equipment then baseboard where you do an aerobics activity. Now I liked the gym equipment, it was all different. I loathed the aerobics activity as we were meant to invent that ourselves. We were shown a few options and sometimes an instructor would waltz out and order everyone onto the floor to do her exercises. I just would rather all gym equipment myself.

Our contours venue was new and I think I had an allergy to the carpet or something they use there as I would sneeze uncontrollably for up to 30 minutes after visiting the gym.

Contours have STILL not called me back and it is now 9 days since I informed them that that they have been continuing to deduct money from my account for more than two years since the end of my "one year contract" which was supposed to end in November 08. When I told the "kindly" proprietor in September 08 that I could not continue due to a neck injury, she offered me an extension until January 09. What she did not inform me was that I would need to put that in writing or that I needed a medical certificate. While leading me to believe that she had my best interests at heart, she failed to do the only thing that needed to be done, to take care of my best interests. ie. OK – In principle Contours is an excellent product. While the Hawthorn Contours gym is convenient and clean, current management are focused on profit, and staff don't fit the profile of members well. After 4 years loyal membership I am seriously considering a shift. CONTOURS HAWTHORN

The concept is excellent. A 29 minute circuit which can be undertaken at any time, mix of cardio and strength training. Contours in Hawthorn is clean and easy to access, located centrally in Glenferrie Rd Hawthorn. New management took over this franchise in early 2010. Big improvements were promised, but the calibre of staff has actually fallen. Care factor zero. There is a lot of focus on their "Six Week Challenge" and extra classes that add $$$, but not much support for those who come daily. Extras such as their Boot Camp are more like an episode from biggest loser: yelling, noses to the wet grass, and keep going until your muscles tear.

comfortable ladies only environment, which I really liked. I felt really comfortable when I was exercising, even though we had a lot of male delivery guys and electricians constantly coming in to do their work. It's just not for me, because it was too rushed and I would like to have more flexibility. I joined this gym because I wanted to work out in a ladies only environment and it was really great at the beginning. I was really motivated at the beginning and liked the aerobic and weights exercises, but soon it got really crowded and I got fed up with the whole thing. It seems to suit the older ladies and those who are home during the day time. I found it easy to go when I wasnt working, but it's hard to go to when I work because of the timings and because its always crowded too. Its only 29minutes as per their ad, but you have to do a warm up before you start and if you are using the 1 change room available, and then do the stretches at the end, totally it takes about 45 minutes. It is a small place with about 10 or so machines that you go on for 45 seconds each and you do 2 repeats during the 29 minute workout. Since its on a circuit based routine, you have to be quick to put the equipment back to how it was before you more to the next machine and ofcourse there are some people who don't do this and they just leave the machine according to their setting and by the time you adjust it to your needs, the time is almost up. Sometimes, it can get really crowded and then you have to wait to use the machines to warm up or even start your workout. The opening timings are really limited, and you really go when it's convenient for them, not for you.

Overall I thank all the trainers at Contours Bundaberg for all the hard work and long hours they put in to make our experiences at the gym so rewarding. I recomend this gym to anybody that is thinking of joining a gym or even just wanting to get some advice. I believe Contours Bundaberg is one of the best!! The facilities that are available are extensive. On top of the 29 minute circuit they offer a range of classes involving aqua aerobics, high intensity training sessions, core balance and strength classes, arms bellies bums and thigh focused classes, punch fit/boxing and many cardio focused classes. These classes are designed to suite all fitness levels and are held at many convenient times throughout the day. I find each one to be challenging and rewarding. The girls are regularly setting challenges for the members. Currently we are participating in a ‘walk to Woodgate’ or ‘ride to Rockhampton’ challenge. This challenge involves the members racing each other to complete a curtain amount of kilometres on either the treadmill or the bike. Also contours members are encouraged to participate in 2 local fun runs that are coming up. All the challenges are voluntary and very motivating. My only request i would have is for them to be open on a Sunday.

intense high impact workout. I like that it's all women, no mirrors, not very intimidating, most trainers greet you with your name and try to help you out if you're having any problems I joined contours about two years ago. I must say that upon joining the idea of a 29 minute workout seemed so convenient (even though it is a little over 29 minutes). The first few sessions seem so promising as you have a 'personal trainer' (some are not even qualified) taking you around the circuit. That's about all the attention you really receive and then as time goes by you realise that they don't really care and sit around chatting or selling memberships to other potential customers. Sometimes you find that you can really lack motivation, especially with it being so repetitive. I also find that if Igo at certain times you find that Ican never get a machine as the gym is so small (which also makes it stink). I lost my job due to unforseen circumstances and the owner of the gym would not let me cancel my contract with only a few months left. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A 12 MONTH CONTRACT IF YOU DECIDE TO JOIN!! I would not recommend this gym to anyone who is even the slightest bit unsure if it will suit them, or if you do not attend regularly, because they try to lock you into the contract (they will keep charging you passed the year if you do not cancel 30days in advance - even though you only signed up for a 1 year contract) and when you cancel rather than saying, 'good luck. If you ever decide to rejoin you are more than welcome to come back' they are instead pushy and EXTREMELY rude when realise they will no longer be getting your money, and show no manners or class.

Overall contours is expensive for what you get (i.e. absolutely no variety) and it's just not worth the attitude you get when you end your contract. Very helpful when you are signing up. Make it difficult to test out the gym before joining through ongoing casual attendance (i.e. VERY expensive) so you are more likely to enter into a contract. Then show their true colours when you cancel your contract. Also, doing the same exercises to the same music each time was not for me (very boring and repetitive). Of course had it been affordable to attend casually I would have quickly worked this out and never joined (which is why they make it so expensive to go casually).

Bad – I wouldnt join this style of gym again. Not enough options, specially not for the money involved. A lot of the staff were not overly helpful, and really only cared about signing new people up. All girl gym, i had a set routine so knew what i was doing, no skirting the things you dont like. Prices, for not much more i can join a real gym with… Read more

classes, pool etc. Trying to get out of the contract/cancel membership, they charge you hefty fees and are extremely rude to boot. Got a stress fracture on my foot due to staff standing on my foot to help do situps. Not really a 30 min circuit. NO SHOWERS. ours only had room for one girl to get changed at any one time. Opening hours were not all that great, specially on weekends.

Excellent – I would rather smell candles than sweat anyday! The circuit is never boring as the "Certified Trainers" make it interesting!! I LOVE it!!! I go to Merrylands Contours and they couldn't be MORE helpful! I have lost 22cm in 1 month!!
