This Aldi folding ebike is great fun – Pros: The assembly was quite easy after watching the tutorial on YouTube. Cons: Aldi's folding ebike is heavy, I need help to load bike into the SUV. Only one gear so it can be dangerous for young or inexperienced riders when the power kicks in.
Battery didnt connect toi bike – Bought Aldi electric folding bike - followed all instructions but battery would noty connect to bike. Rang help line and they said it was most likley a loose wire and to take it to an indepenednt repoaier to fix at our own cost. Dissapointed with service. Get precisely what you pay for, – Given that you can't buy an new ebike normally for less than about $900, this product is a bargain, and I judge it accordingly. It's pretty basic, one gear only, meaning that pedalling it without the electronic assistance is a pain and you won't be going desperately fast. Throttle doesn't really work. bicycle. Assistance is fairly smooth. I have concerns about the build quality, some screws seem to come loose, although as I built it myself it's hard to say whether that's necessarily Aldi's fault or not (building it is not straightforward). The rack on the back is a nice addition. Having to remove the seat to take the battery in and out is annoying.
Battery meter is weird. You get three LEDs, two green and one red. If you're going up a hill, one light may go off, only to re-illuminate when you're coming back down. This makes it tricky to judge the fullness of the battery. So far I've been able to ride 30-odd km on flat ground. Advertised range (in the booklet) is 24 km. I haven't folded it much but when carrying it you do feel every one of those 24 kilos .
Presumably you're here at whatever point in the future the Aldi algorithm has set for future sale of this bike. If so, you're getting a bargain, but it does come at a cost. If you've got a long commute or are thinking of going on long rides, give it a miss. If you only need to travel short distances and want a bit of help at an affordable price, go ahead.

in you are off and sometimes it is too fast. I was trying to keep pace with my 2 year old grandson but crawling is difficult unless you stop and get off the bike to turn off the key to the battery. I have yet to take it more than about 2 ks and will be interested to see how long the battery lasts. I have emailed the sales support re the cost of a second battery but they say they don't have any at present and will get back to me... but as yet no response. I suspect that you can't get one or if you can it would be as expensive as getting a new bike. I do not regret my purchase but in future I think I would rather get one with variable speed. It cost $599
Update- I have now had the bike 2 years and still going strong. Very happy with it.

get use to the delivery of power. The cranks are short, and this feels quite different to a non ebike. Really like the lights and horn. Impressed with build quality.
Disappointed - expected more – Assembled the folding ebike from Aldi this morning, pumped up the tyres and checked tension on all bolts and screws. All good. The test ride was not so good. and doesn't provide sufficient power to propel the bike at all. There is also no way to vary the degree of pedal assist, or turn it off (except for the battery key). It is difficult to maintain low speed.
Warranty worth zero – The bike was purchased 10 months ago from Aldi Australia. Usually I find Aldi products to be of good quality but if there are any issues with the special buys they ask you to directly correspond with the manufacturer. warranty but offered to send a replacement battery. They have told me to take it to a bike shop to have it repaired. It’s a real shame to taint the good name of Aldi Australia but this has been simply unsatisfactory.
Good bikes but terrible tyres – We had these bikes for about 3 years now and they are pretty ok. Not for anyone who is tall as you need to put the seat pretty high up not to knock your knees. Happy but would like an extra battery for longer trips – I have a disability and enjoy the freedom the ebike gives me with taking the dogs out for a run but the battery runs out pretty quick. I would like to purchase a second battery to have charged to swap it over. Show details

Dangerous - Safety issue – My wife just came back from work, she was shaking and she said she almost killed herself because of the brakes from bike failed when she was travelling downhill. For some reason the brake noodle came off from the noodle holder (quick release), so she had to use her shoes to stop the bike. It was really dangerous, will return the bike this weekend and report to government for this flaw in order to protect others. Show details
Aldi Folding Electric Bike- Very under powered – I bought one of these for my wife as we have lots of hills in our area. Like Monique (below) the bike that I assembled only provided minimal assistance and none up any slope greater than about 5 degrees. Most other ebikes also have gears to help on steep slopes. This one has none.
I also had a few other issues. The frame was very poorly finished with many areas of painted-over welding spatter and rust showing through the paint. The instructions are very poor and the blocking effect of the "walking throttle" needs to be better explained. The cheap handlebar LED display symbols and meanings are not explained anywhere. The pull-bolt locking clamps for the seat, steering and frame are also not well explained. I was also surprised to see that you are not allowed to leave the battery on the charger overnight......really? (Battery was fully charged- several times- for all my comments above.)
On the plus side, the seat was very comfortable....
I returned mine after 3 days. Still assembled.

Great for a while – I raved about my Aldi folding ebike to my friends, however after only 500kms the motor and controller and battery burnt out. As the bike was over one year old the supplier - Bicycles online said that I needed to buy a new battery for $650! The bike cost $799. one for $99. The installer tested it and said the problem was actually the motor that had fried the controller and compromised compromised battery and as the motor is $250 and not guaranteed to work it is not worth fixing.
Thanks Aldi, Bicycles Online and Entity for selling me a bike that will only travel 500kms and die.
Avoid all of the above companies when it comes to electric bikes.

sensational, I rode to work in my suit, didn't need to shower (checked this out with trusted colleagues!) as I do when I ride my road bike - no sweat - literally. It's just so easy on hills - yes, I do have to pedal but not much at all. My legs had a reasonable workout without me becoming puffed. Love the bike - it will mean I ride more frequently to work which has to be good for my health.
