I've had my "Estate" bike for probably 2 or more years, not ridden it all that much. Brakes are woeful to which others can attest or verify. I've not had any battery issues but today, something went awfully wrong with the pedals and cadence sensor or front sprocket. Probably not the cadence sensor, as I could pedal and that generates the… Read more

electrical power, but there was no actual pedal thrust or torque, so I had to rely entirely on the electrical power to move me along. Have yet to pull it apart to see what broke.

Waste of money – I bought 2 of these bikes, I originally thought it was a good bike so bought a second one. After a year the first bikes battery expanded and will no longer sit in the frame the second bike did the same thing within 6 months. I tried contacting Estate for a battery replacement but they did not respond. So I now have 2 bikes sitting in the garage… Read more

unused taking up space.

Brakes are dodgy, in saying that the newer bike has hydraulic brakes which is a slightly better upgrade. Caution you don't want to be riding fast and need to suddenly stop, chances are you won't!!!

My advice spend the extra and get a better quality bike that you can get assistance instore.

This Aldi folding ebike is great fun – Pros: The assembly was quite easy after watching the tutorial on YouTube. It's a nice toy that came with bells and whistles i.e. bell, headlight, rearlight all connected to the main power.. I already have a more serious ebike but with this second budget ebike, I can discover a lot more places. Easy to disassemble and assemble. Very good value for… Read more ·  1

$599

Cons: Aldi's folding ebike is heavy, I need help to load bike into the SUV. Only one gear so it can be dangerous for young or inexperienced riders when the power kicks in.

Unreliable Aldi Electric bike – The Battery to bike connection has always been unreliable and a bump in road turns it into a PUSH bike. The bike will bluetooth to the phone but it clocks 99kph at any speed so the speedo and odometer was useless. Tempo recommended Suresh at Service King as a repairer in March 2024; a 4 week estimate stretched out and after 6 weeks the speedo was fixed but the power connections were still unreliable 2 months later the speedo failed again. Show details

Bloody good bike – Just purchased the Estate Folding Electric Bike from Aldi September 2022. To start with I wish the instruction book told us there was an instructional assembly you tube on the internet as I only discovered that after we spent ages trying to figure out how to assemble it. It is great fun to ride but only has one speed. Once the pedal assist kicks… Read more ·  1

in you are off and sometimes it is too fast. I was trying to keep pace with my 2 year old grandson but crawling is difficult unless you stop and get off the bike to turn off the key to the battery. I have yet to take it more than about 2 ks and will be interested to see how long the battery lasts. I have emailed the sales support re the cost of a second battery but they say they don't have any at present and will get back to me... but as yet no response. I suspect that you can't get one or if you can it would be as expensive as getting a new bike. I do not regret my purchase but in future I think I would rather get one with variable speed. It cost $599

Update- I have now had the bike 2 years and still going strong. Very happy with it.

Disappointed - expected more – Assembled the folding ebike from Aldi this morning, pumped up the tyres and checked tension on all bolts and screws. All good. The test ride was not so good. I was excited to find a throttle and expected that the bike motor could be controlled by the throttle as an alternative to pedal assist, but NO. The throttle is referred to as 'walk assist'… Read more

and doesn't provide sufficient power to propel the bike at all. There is also no way to vary the degree of pedal assist, or turn it off (except for the battery key). It is difficult to maintain low speed.

My First Ebike - I'm Glad I Got It From Aldi. Good, Different! – I only bought it today and it could be 5 stars if there's no problems within a couple of months. Easy to put together just 4 bolts for the handlebar then two for the front tyre. Then a nut to adjust for the seat. Mine didn't need any brake or gear adjustments out of the box but I might want to tweak those a little in a week or so. I got a hand… Read more

pump to put a little air in the tyres and took it around the block to the servo for more air. Might first feeling was that it goes like a rocket. Brakes seem good, gears seem good. It could possibly use an eighth grear as I got up to speed and felt very comfortable, could have pedalled a little more. A little later I took it for another ride, maybe about 6-7km. Again it felt zippy and comfortable to ride. I'm probably about the maximum rated weight for a rider so a lighter person wouldn't have to pedal as much and would likely get better range of of the battery. I can't comment on the range of the battery yet or what it's like going up a steep hill. I hope I can keep up the riding - I'm planning to do 50Km a week on it instead of in the car, that's how I justified the outlay which should be recovered in petrol savings within about 18 months, all going well. So at this point I highly recommend this Ebike. I hope it lasts well.

Good for the price but has its glitches – I brought this from Audi. It has its little problems. There were times when I turn it on, go to pedal & the motor isn't kicking in- I found that the sensor was very particular on its position, if it was only a mm off the magnets... it wouldn't pick up therefore the motor would not move, so I was constantly repositioning the sensor. Another problem… Read more ·  1

the battery kept popping out, I also found the hole sockets (where the prongs go into connect it) would slip back further into the battery, I had to open the battery & push the metal sockets back into position but they still move away so the battery isn't connecting properly. Anyway I need to order a new battery, it seems the life has gone out of it now, so can you please give me the battery name model no. & direct me to the site to order another battery. The wheel bearings started to grind they mustv ended falling out I'm not sure but the wheel started wobbling like crazy, eventually the I noticed that the Axel started to slide out of its casing even though the wheel was bolted on solid, I freak out so I changed the wheel. Anyhow I just need the name /model no of battery so I can get a replacement one thankyou

Get precisely what you pay for, – Given that you can't buy an new ebike normally for less than about $900, this product is a bargain, and I judge it accordingly. It's pretty basic, one gear only, meaning that pedalling it without the electronic assistance is a pain and you won't be going desperately fast. Throttle doesn't really work. Horn is, well, not what you'd expect from a… Read more

bicycle. Assistance is fairly smooth. I have concerns about the build quality, some screws seem to come loose, although as I built it myself it's hard to say whether that's necessarily Aldi's fault or not (building it is not straightforward). The rack on the back is a nice addition. Having to remove the seat to take the battery in and out is annoying.

Battery meter is weird. You get three LEDs, two green and one red. If you're going up a hill, one light may go off, only to re-illuminate when you're coming back down. This makes it tricky to judge the fullness of the battery. So far I've been able to ride 30-odd km on flat ground. Advertised range (in the booklet) is 24 km. I haven't folded it much but when carrying it you do feel every one of those 24 kilos .

Presumably you're here at whatever point in the future the Aldi algorithm has set for future sale of this bike. If so, you're getting a bargain, but it does come at a cost. If you've got a long commute or are thinking of going on long rides, give it a miss. If you only need to travel short distances and want a bit of help at an affordable price, go ahead.

The future of transport is here… – Carefully unpacked and assembled my first ebike. Read instructions carefully. Everything worked as described. Great bike for the money – Mine is great. The battery last for 80 ks. I have now had it 3 years and it hasn't skipped a beat. The only thing I found was that it is a little heavy and the tyres are 2 thin for what I ride on. I changed out the tyres for thicker ones. Show details

good and bad experience – I bought this Aldi Bike a unisex model and was happily riding around when I found one day that the battery was dying very fast and only a bar was left after 5 mins of riding and then Aldi changed it. Not sure how this one will go but the battery drains out very quickly. This was my second Aldi bike. The first was the black Male version of the same… Read more

. On its maiden voyage the pedal broke off the strips and Aldi couldn't replace it so I got it from a bicycle repair shop and Aldi was quick to reimburse the amount. Then the battery conked off and wouldn't charge and Aldi didn't have a replacement. So I had to disband it and return it to Aldi. Wish the Aldi bikes had more battery power. Overall my experience has been good as far as the after sales service is concerned but just the waiting time is a little too long especially when spares aren't available too easily. Aldi I am sure you can do better.

Some issues that I have had with my Aldi bike – I purchased the Aldi Men’s bike branded “Estate City” in Australia in April 2022. When assembling it I found that the bearings in the front wheel were rough and felt like they needed replacing. I re-lubricated the bearings and adjusted the cone nuts and it now feels OK ( not 100% but OK). The pedal bearings also felt like they needed replacing… Read more

but that is not possible but I can’t feel the roughness in my feet when pedalling so I will leave them for the time being. I saw in other reviews that some people found the spokes loose so I checked that. They were not as taught as I had expected but not urgently in need of adjustment. On riding it I found that the heel of my shoe kept catching on the side stand. I wear size 8 shoes so they are not big. My solution was to cut a plate of aluminium 120mmx40mmx4mm and bolt it to the bracket for the side stand and then bolt the side stand to the new bracket, thereby moving the stand back about 120mm which works perfectly. The front brake kept rubbing on the left side regardless of how often I adjusted it. I found that the adjusting screw was slipping off the spring that it was supposed to tension. This was fixed by putting a washer behind the spring and aligning it on centre with the adjusting screw. The brake still kept rubbing after applying the brakes. I had to rotate the spring locator one hole more tension to pull the brake block free of the wheel. The other issue that it a little disappointing is the way the electric power is delivered. My wife has an electric bike as well and power delivery on it is much smoother and predictable. With the Aldi bike it takes several rotations of the pedals before the power “comes on” and it does not turn off for a few seconds after crank rotation has ceased. Touching the brakes stops electric boost instantly so that stops the bike from charging on. When travelling down hill and coasting (ie no pedalling) when I start to pedal again, for probably 10 crank rotations, the pedals and chain feel disconnected from the wheel and electric boost does not commence in this period. My wife’s bike (which cost more than twice the Aldi bike) is much smoother in operation.

So I find it a little disappointing but it is an OK bike to ride, so I will keep it recognizing that it could be better.

Good bikes but terrible tyres – We had these bikes for about 3 years now and they are pretty ok. Not for anyone who is tall as you need to put the seat pretty high up not to knock your knees. Basic Design Faults – There are 3 design faults. 1) the seat is very uncomfortable. 2) there is no place to screw in a water bottle. 3) the bike stand needs to be 2cm further back. My left heel keeps hitting the stand - most annoying. But generally, the bike is good value for money. Show details

good but not quite what it states it is – This electric bike is a Peddle "assisted" bike not a true electric powered bike... That's not to say it is a bad bike but if you have visions of moving along at 25 kph without peddling I suggest looking elsewhere. Pros: :If you have a few local hills of moderate slope to climb this bike assists well. :Easy to assemble out of the box. (but I… Read more

suggest using your own tools not the ones supplied)

:Great for casual rides of short distances.

Cons. :Limited range... battery takes 6 hours to charge for about 1-2 hours of use (or less with a lot of hills) and the charger heats up a bit when in use.

:Top speeds are limited by limited gears. With no front gears (on the peddles) you can easily outspeed the peddles best speed on flat ground leaving you coasting along feeling able to(or wanting to) go faster but unable to do so.

I would love to see if eatra gears could be added to the peddles which in MY opinion would take this from OK to a possible contender for a commuter bike of short distances (10-30k). The only other idea would be to somehow improve the battery longevity to improve distance but this would add to overall weight of the bike. The tools that come with the bike are at best OK for the job... and make a semi-decent set to take with you for emergency repairs/adjustments (flat tires etc.) but not much else. Add to that taking off the back tire to fix a flat could be difficult for someone with out a bit of training as the gears can be difficult/twitchy to adjust.
