Crystalbrook Newcastle I recently stayed here after seeing it on TravelGuides and wanted a couple of days away, while my pugs get used to their new sitter. What a huge mistake that was for me staying at Crystalbrook. I’ve stayed at many 5⭐️hotel for work and leisure around the world, this is 3 1/2 ⭐️ at best. Sheets not changed and very creased from use. There was also a stain from coffee I was drinking and spilt on the sheet ( I did wipe it up, but still obvious). Fridge was not restocked, apart from refilling (free) bottle water. Bathroom was not restocked. 1 sanitary bag for my whole stay, tried calling for more, phone rang out. It was quite late, but this was also supposed to be 24/7 and 5 ⭐️ hotel. And they were in a different room to the toilet. Not really helpful. Nowhere to put the soap. Yes there was liquid soap, but I liked the smell of the soap bar, I left it on a flannel. Shower matt did not fit under the shower door, you had to move it to the bathroom door, not really useful there. Room service. I added a note saying hearing aid battery was flat and have mobility aid and to call me when you on their way, so I can make my way to the door. Worked 1 day, not the second day. Second day dinner meal was 20mins later than stated, was supposed to be massaman curry, it was luke warm, consisted of chunks of beef that had clearly not been cooked in the curry, couple of bits of broccolini and supposedly coconut rice but was plain rice, And to top it off, a huge black/grey stain on the carpet, right where you got in/out of bed. It was dry, thankfully. My complaint to reception the next morning was that it is usual for the carpet (orange/ gold colour)to do that and not worry about it. My option is that the only time that is usual is if something, like a fridge (looked like furniture had been moved around) has been leaking for some time. It was disgusting and disappointing and at the very least should have been covered with a rug until fixed. I complained again when I checked out and there were not that interested, but said they would tell housekeeping. These may only be minor irritations (well apart from the stain), but they should not occur at a 5 ⭐️ hotel. Here are some pictures of the stain and one showing what it looked like elsewhere in the room.

 Follow-up  · I never tried the restaurant (breakfast or dinner) at Crystalbrook, I don’t eat early and can’t really face food until midday. I was going to try the restaurant for dinner, but after ordering room service, decided to go elsewhere. The only other amenity I tried was parking, valet parking and a bit hap hazard/ not well organized and quite expensive. I have a mobility aid so I’m limited to using what there is and making the best of it. Staff are mostly young, pleasant and helpful. But I’m still never staying there again or at any other Crystalbrook hotel.

Illegal fraudulent charges after bill was paid in full – We were charged $100 "holding fee" for an overnight stay. No problem with that. What we are furious about is the random amounts of $85.50 also being debited three days in a row. Despite phone calls and emails to this business, no one can rectify this blatant stealing of our money.
