Utter piece of garbage – I brought it home, set it up and it seemed to go OK for streaming TV and online gaming but as soon I tried to RDP it just gave up and hasn't worked right since. I am having to restart the stupid thing 10+ times a day to stayed connected. I have tried to RDP again since then but it fails every time so I hotspot to my phone instead. Now I'll get one… Read more

maybe two shows in before I have to restart it AGAIN. The only thing this router is good for is as a weapon to throw it at the head of someone at D-Link.

Great unless – On the whole this has been a great modem/router.....however, I recently needed to do a reset which should have been pretty straight forward. Trying to get it configured again it fell flat I was trying for over an hour and still didn't get anywhere. Just plugged my old one in

Worse than Telstra provided router – Worse range than the router Telstra provided for free (Technicolor tg797n v3), lower speeds and extremely poor build quality for something that cost me $200. I ended up pulling mine apart and discovered that the reason for the poor wifi range was the tiny antenna. Antenna that were smaller than those in a 13" netbook which I repaired. And the… Read more

5GHz wifi is provided by a cheap mini PCIe card built into it. Barely worth $50, let alone what I had to pay for it.

Try and find a modem that works out of the box instead of this one – I'll be taking it back to the shop. Surely it's not too much to expect it to be plugged in and work? It is so complicated to configure and that issue is compounded by a total lack of support from D Link. So, I have no idea if it performs well or not but the choice is either to get a degree in advanced nuclear computing first or pay someone to fit… Read more

Not a great modem for NBN. Cheap though – I bought this modem from JB Hi-Fi as well and I expected a lot more because my previous modem had very little wifi reach. The signal strength has a very small reach and drops out every now and the. Also one band will be weaker than the other one. The most frustrating thing has been that the modem drops off the internet connection so often and I… Read more

have to restart it a number of times before I get the internet to connect again. And the speed as well is not as fast as I expected. This is not a great modem for NBN.

Cheap but slow – I bought this at a sale. It was cheap but you get what you pay for. The speed is not really that fast. The range is also not very good. The setup is good for those without a lot of computer experience. I'm not sure if this is the best router for gaming as the ping was average. Overall, it is good value for money.  Show details

Never buy d-link again. Not going to bother with warranty – Wi-fi continually dropping out. Called my ISP to check if it was them. They checked it and it was all fine. Very frustrating. Wasted so much time trying to figure what was wrong. Hard reset so many times. Less than one year old, so still under warranty, but not going to bother. Don't want to deal with them. Tried connecting with cable and still had problems. Will just move on to another product.  Show details

Good but not great – Bought this router at a good price from JB Hifi. Happy with the quality most of the time. Have had a lot of trouble with modems/routers in the past and this definitely is better than what we had previously. We still have a little trouble some times with wifi signal on one band being weaker or dropping out, when the other band will be perfect. Not… Read more

sure if that is a problem with the router or with our wifi but other than that the product is great for our home ADSL.

Could have better wifi strength – Setup is easy conects nearly straight away wifi distance is very poor even with modem up high lan has good speed no usb port does stay connected with consistly wifi even close not very fast but okay as long as you are close to it. Dlink needs to improve on there wifi strength  Show details

Complete garbage. You will not be able to use the internet with this – This thing should not even be called a WiFi modem/router. It's a complete waste of money and a major hassle. Issues: 1. Connection loss - all the time. 2. Connection loss - at least every 20 minutes. 3. It needs to be restarted manually each time. 4. Sometimes it needs to be restarted twice in a row for it to kick in. 5. I have to hard… Read more

reset this so called modem every month; change all passwords. The more time passes between hard resets, the less time it spends being connected to the internet.

6. The most irritating device I've ever owned. Hate it. I am getting a new modem tomorrow and as soon as it's up and running, I am taking the hammer to this DLink thing.

I've had my ISP check everything out twice and got the all clear on all my wiring. So the fault is definitely with this Dlink box. Also, I had to restart the f##cking thing while writing this review.

Pretty Decent modem. Will buy again! – Bought this as a replacement modem after reading a few review. Seems to be a pretty good modem and has not given many problems. There is the occasional reboot (once a month) but that could also be because of the old wiring in my unit and the Telstra exchange having issues.  Show details

Had to buy another modem – Had a lot of trouble getting this working and it seemed as though the signal didn't go further than 2m. Thoroughly frustrated, eventually ended up going with a different brand and model of router. Ended up returning it to Officeworks and got something else instead, would NOT recommend this at all.  Show details

frequent connection loss – the modem frequently disconnects from the internet and will not work for a few hours. I had tried getting a refund/exchange from Bing lee (where I initially bought the product) and they had told me that I would need to contact D-link and get this reference code etc for them to process my refund. While i was buying the product (it was the last one… Read more

Two years of connectivity issues – Bought this modem/router about two years ago and I've had problems with it since I took it out of the box. All it takes is some bad weather for it to lose connectivity. I work from home so this modem/router has been a constant source of frustration. I'm looking into a new one  Show details

budget NBN router – AC1200 speed is ok. doesn't come with VOIP and user interface is a bit difficult to use. Other than that it works quite well. Speed didn't differ much from the previous N600 modem. streaming and downloading was ok. We bought this recently because our Huawei modem from Dodo suddenly died. This works with FTTP NBN. Surprisingly this still has… Read more

D-Link Worst Router EVER!!! – Constantly locked up with no devices getting online. Frequently would not allow other devices to connect to it. Tech support was terrible and just consisted of telling us to turn the modem on and off and resetting basic settings we already knew to try. They do not try to troubleshoot but suggest sending out another which is a waste of time. … Read more

Worst modem I have ever used! probably applies to every other Dlink modem – This modem always tells me my authentication had failed and there is such a complicated setup process which has so much room for error. it worked before and then I disconnected it and after a few months i wanted to use it again but this time it didn't work at all. even when it did work, it had major issues constantly. worst of all, i can't even… Read more

use this thing as a range extender. I do not recommend any dlink products better off buying something more simple.

BIg problem since day 1 – Skeptical about D-link to start with, but gave it a try. Since I setup, I had to re-configure it every week because it kept dropping out. Did everything, called up my ISP and confirmed was the modem problem. I then called up D-link and they asked me to update the firmware. I did, and the re-configuration now went from weekly to daily. Going to… Read more

exchange it soon. The only positive thing out of this is, I am expert in configuring modems. Second to none!

Quick and easy to set up - even for a novice – Our old modem died suddenly, so we needed to buy a new one that day. As we had no internet, I could not do any online research for best products. We went into Officeworks, was faced with too much choice, so asked one of the sales staff for their help. We were told that this D-Link Dual Band Wireless AC1200 ADSL2 + Modem Router was a good reliable… Read more

product - so we bought it. At first I was wary as not had a wireless modem before, and was not sure if I had the skills to set it up correctly. Well, it was a breeze to set up, took only a few minutes, worked first time and continues to do it's job with no issues. No drop outs experienced, fires up very quickly when our PC is powered up each day, it looks good and so far it's been trouble free. It cost more than we wanted to spend but it's been worth every cent.
