Plug it in and you're good to go – What's not to like? This is an unmanaged 5-port gigabit switch. There is nothing to configure, you plug it in and start using it. Can't speak to the longevity of the product or quality of the D-Link support as I've only had this for a short time. I can however confirm that the 4 devices that I have plugged into it all seem to be interoperating without issue so far.

Great Little Switch – Just like it's (slightly) bigger brother the 8 port version, I needed a small switch to add another device so decided to purchase the 5 port version. Quick and easy to set up, no hassles, no issues, just plug and play. I love it when things just work. Highly recommend.

Purchased in at Computer Alliance Online store for $30.

Cheap easy and it just works – I needed a basic network switch in my Theatre to connect some A/V equipment to my home network and settled on the D-Link DGS-1008A. That was back in 2017, and this cheap and easy little switch has worked without fail since. Sometimes with networking, you need a big and powerful managed 128 port switch, but sometimes, all you need is something basic. That's not to say this switch is dumb, it has 8 gigabit ports, and has smarts built in to reduce power usage, and therefore runs cool even without a fan. It is tiny too - 130 x 79 x 22 mm.

If I had to find a problem, I would say that if the power supply cable came in from the back of the unit rather than the side, then that would improve the aesthetic (obviously it would make the unit slightly wider). Also, given the tiny power requirement, instead of an external power supply 'brick' which is hard wired to the barrel plug, a 240v to USB transformer, then a USB cable to barrel plug would allow users to get a power board with included USB outputs rather than another damn power supply 'brick'. It only requires 5Volt / 1 Amp anyway.

Aside from these very minor complaints, this switch is perfect.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $44.95.

Small, reliable, just works – This is a great little device that just does its job flawlessly and without fuss. Easy to use. Have never had a problem with it and I love the size and look of the unit. DLINK are a great brand for networking too.
