Great on fuel but nothing else – Cheap on fuel 550k to 35ltrs Fuel quality is a major issue. As well as the bush inside the steering column. Has cost me a bomb to keep / endless repairs. Fuel savings is the only thing that stopped me from putting it on the scrap heap. I now filter my fuel before i put into tank This is not a car to clock up big kms in a year. 35k in a year was a… Read more

bit too much. EXCESSIVE TYRE wear on front and rears. Chewing tyres under 12k Suitable for 80km h roads with short spurts of 100 - 110km zones Would i buy again....

Yes, if only i didnt have soo much mechanical costs in the 2 - 3years of ownership ( fuel consumption only reason to buy ) If it didnt have the good economy i would run away and never touch a matiz again or a daewoo for that matter. Good fuel economy was the only reason i kept putting money into it (Repairs) Never used air con in summer Compressor was stuffed and apparently the engine suffers quite alot as soo little power to begin with

A Little City Car with Big attitude – Purchased my pre-loved 2001 Matiz for 2 reasons. Fuel economy & zippy performance and it excels at both. The tinnie 800cc engine does the job well and has no problems keeping up with daily traffic. Just don't turn on the air cond else it will struggle. It can easily cruise at 110km/h for freeway driving and the braking is also very good. It has… Read more

amazing fuel economy. The 35 litre fuel tank gets me around 600km+ and I even managed to get 700km when driving it in granny mode. No power steering so some effort is required when parking.

It is surprisingly room inside for 4 people but the seats aren't the most comfortable on long trips and the boot is tiny. All in all its a great cheap city car which has been extremely reliable. It has never let me down. Fun to drive, cheap to run, easy to maintain. Uncomfortable seating

Good – Its a shame they don't import these anymore because they really are a great little car. If you can get your hands on a second hand model it will pretty much pay for itself with good fuel consumption in only a few years. It would make a great first car or a car for someone who needs to park in confined spaces. Be wary of the pocket rocket! While… Read more

she may only have three cylinders, this little beast has no problems negotiating the open highway and maintaining a good speed. The Matiz is the epitome of fuel economy. Over a four year period, the SE model Matiz averages 450kms on a 35litre tank, with the best consumption I've had being 576kms with 33.5litres used. Since I've owned it, my Matiz spends 80% of its time cruising at 55-60kms in town traffic, so my economy figures are based on stop go conditions. Other good things about this car include tight turning circle, easy to park, good lights, cd player, good speaker system, triple engine immobiliser, high seating position, two airbags, good seats, air conditioning & great heating system. New models are no longer imported into Australia.

OK – It very cute car, everyone want to borrow my car, low on petrol expenses. Love travelling in and out of city Love this car, very small, easy to find parking especially with small spaces. Not bad on road as it is normal Unable to find manual book, to do own services, tune up. etc

inside

or right through the cap

The first time it burnt a complete hole in the side of the

distributor cap and an off white chalk substance was covering all

the inside.

The second time it burnt the contacts and the center brush, with

chalky coating etc again.

The third time as of now the 9th February 2011 same thing again we

are desperate as to know what is causing this as it has our auto

electrician who has all the data etc absolutely stumped.

Has any body else had this problem?

Thank you if anybody knows how to overcome this problem please let us know

the inductor coil needs a resister...... some are inbuilt and some have it separately outside the unit.
