Poor customer service and quality of roller blinds – I wouldn't use this company. I had roller blinds installed throughout my apartment in July. It's been 6 months and have had so many issues with them breaking. I emailed the company to let them know and they want to charge a fee to fix them and blamed it on user error. careful with my things and have never had this many issues with a blind before. The blinds don't seem like great quality that's made to last. The customer service is just as poor as the blinds. The lady on the phone suggested something is wrong with me for not knowing how to use a blind. She was very rude. I strongly recommend using another company if you would like long lasting roller blinds.

Poor after care – We had shutters installed over a month ago and still look good without any marks on them. We had more shutters installed 2 days ago and noticed scratch markings on a couple of panels but were told that more than likely we scratched them ourselves with our rings when opening, shutting them. Thermalite Plantation Shutters - Great Product – Needed some window dressings to address unwanted heat issue in bedrooms. Investigated and decided on Décor Blinds Thermalite Plantation Shutters. the Thermalite shutters, himself gave us a very comprehensive advice on the possibilities we had for the windows of our unit. He was very accommodating and answered all our questions to our satisfaction.

Within 2 hours after he left we received the detailed quote for each of our windows.

The decision

Although quotes from other contractors were lower we went for Décor Blinds for the following reasons:

• We had seen the quality of the blinds and the workmanship at a friend’s place.

• A much longer warranty than the competitors

• No vertical tilt bar (control rod)

• The comprehensive answering of all our questions at the personal visit of Frank and more information on their website. Some other contractors didn’t even come to our place, so we had no idea what the product will be).

• Environmentally friendly PVC-free material.

• Made in Australia (Brisbane)

• Short dispatch and installation time (4 weeks after we ordered it was produced and installed)

The installation

After we paid the initial deposit, Steve came to get more detailed measurements. He would also be the person to install the shutters.

Less than 3 weeks thereafter he came back for the installation of the blinds. Both times he was on time as arranged. It was a pleasure to see him working. One could clearly get that he knew what he was doing. He prearranged the shutter parts thoroughly, worked unhastily and steadily and the whole elaborated workflow showed that he must have done that jobs hundred times before. I have seen other tradespeople working and often it seems that they just want to get the job done and don’t emphasise good workmanship.

At the end Steve made sure everything was working, was straight and looked good. He also cleaned after him, which not always goes without saying.

Conclusion

Décor Blinds/Thermalite might not be the cheapest on the market. So if you have only a very limited budget you might find a provider with lower prices. But if you are looking for value for your money Décor Blinds/Thermalite is definitely highly recommendable, from the first contact to the installation.

Slow after sales service – I have used this company twice. The first time was pretty good. A few months ago I ordered a pair louvres for an ensuite. It was measured by two different people on different days. I was personally not here on installation day. One of the louvres was sagging badly, and had two dent marks. made opening them difficult. I called on the day of istallation. I expected very quick service. However, it took two weeks for them to come out. They took the louvres away to rectify them are were back the following day. They fit much better now but the dents were not rectified. The problems were communicated to the installer and in writing. Decor blamed my window for the sagging issue as was not square, but equally advised many windows were not square. Surely, they should be used to this. They also said I should have asked for the louvres to be hung the other way around if that's what I wanted. Who is the expert here and they did not offer anyway? They did offer a partial refund because of the dents. This should have been an easy install but seemed rushed. I would have given them four stars if they had done a better job and purchased again

NB. The bottom line here is I have ordered louvres for three more windows from ANOTHER company, even though they are taking longer, which was advised upfront. Also, they asked which way I wanted them opening!

Great service – Decor Blinds have been very professional throughout. From the initial quote to installation they have kept me informed and turned up at stated times. The blinds look fantastic and the staff were helpful and respectful.

DISAPPOINTING – Last year Decor installed blinds, curtain and sheers in my villa. The consultant was helpful and tried to meet my requirements, but when the roller blinds were installed they didnt fit within the window recess and consequently the mechanisation for the roller chain protuded well beyond the window rebate. concealed from view. I really think I should've been advised that they would stick out like the proverbial and I wouldve been prepared to install a different product. However, after a visit from the installer to rectify a placement issue, I let it go-I am a bit of a perfectionist after all.

The blockout curatins worked a treat and the sheers (a quality linen blend )looked really lovely... that is, until I washed them. I followed the care instructions and carefully washed them in tepid water with wool wash and line dried them. THEY SHRANK. A good three inches!!! On the care label it warns that shrinkage could be up to 3%. (I assumed this was for the dry cleaning option.) Yup. 3% was three inches off the drop. Fortunately I only washed the ones in my bedroom and the 'harry highpants' look is out of view most of the time.

I am so disappointed, and when I rang (to get a replacement rail clip,) and mentioned the shrinkage they suggested I probably tumble dired them. Which I didnt! I dont even possess a tumble drier. The installer who called by to fit the clip was shocked by the shrinkage. Said he hadnt ever seen that before (again he asked if i had tumble dried them) Doesnt anyone ever wash their sheers? They smelt so dusty when they were installed. If the shrinkage is a dead certainty, why don't they add the three % to the length. OR change the care label to reflect the reality?

I won't recommend Decor to anyone; even though the products were expensive and generally well made the 'short long pants' look in my bedroom is a reminder to be super careful in believing product care labels.

Fast and Honest – Great service and advice. We used Décor Blinds the second time. This time we installed Thermalite Shutters in our bedrooms. Brett (Sales) and Steve (Installation) did an awesome job. Could not be happier with the result. Price was very good compared to other big players. Happy to support a local business who is friendly and customer focused. Timely communication throughout the process. Would not go anywhere else.
