i love this little machine. For me, it makes amazing coffee. I always choose organic pregound, and it comes out perfect every time. The milk frother makes a great light froth, and I find I only have to de scale about every 5-6 months, making min 1 coffee per day. I am fussy , to only use filtered water, as directed Its a little involved as a… Read more
process, but i assume all machines are primarily the same. For $220, It has paid for itself easily over the last 3 years., as I dont buy half the coffees i use to. I de scale with vinegar, and that works fine, and the machine is running like I just got it
I bought this on special, and the coffee it produced was good for the price. A quick internet search on how to improve the taste recommended swapping the portafilter for a good quality naked portafilter. This resulted in a huge increase in coffee quality. 18 gms of coffee works best for fresh, medium roast beans. 1 year later and we are still very happy with it. Show details
Bought this machine in Dec 2022 for $179 from ALDI, and never looked back. We're no connoisseur, we're heating our milk in the mug in the microwave, and we brew five or six coffees a day, every day. Some days more. We had Aldi pod machines… Read more
before, they didn't last a year. We bought expensive Nespresso machines, ditto. This little DeLonghi just goes and goes. No more rubbish with pods and leaking pod machines. Couldn't be happier.
PS: If you're on normal Australian townwater supply from rainwater reservoirs or tank water, and you have very low mineral content in your tap water, just ignore the descaling light that starts blinking after so many cycles. It just counts cycles, doesn't sense actual scaling.
Follow-up · No leaks so far, easy enough to clean, and we don't use the steaming wand.
I was initially pleased with my purchase, but the amount of effort required to clean and maintain the unit in return for a daily coffee, proved too much. I must say that I suspect the quality of my tap water, so I have filtered it and used an… Read more
additional internal filter for the last few months. However, the steam has lost pressure and the unit has been flushed monthly since I bought it.....maybe after 30 coffees. It's a lot of work for questionable return. I have been putting water through the water before each coffee and pre-flushing the steam wand before each and every coffee. It's a lot of work and it takes time when all you want is a quick coffee to start the day. I bought cheaper coles coffee recently and the portafilter blocks it. The coffee tastes good but I just re-installed my Aldi capsule coffee maker and the difference in quality isn't worth the time and effort to maintain the delonghi.
In short, if you want "genuine" coffees and are willing to spend time preparing a coffee machine and then regularly spend time cleaning and flushing it, I would still recommend spending more money.
Follow-up · I ran several cleansing routines with the recommended cleaner and with cleaning vinegar but it didnt seem to improve the pressure so I packed the machine away and returned to my aldi capsule machine, which provides a quick morning coffee without all the hassles.
01.05.2025 What Does a 12-month Warranty actually mean? I would like a NEW Machine, please. I purchased a Delonghi Dedica Arte Coffee Machine Model # EC885M from the Good Guys in Penrith on 09.01.2025 for $173 Worked well and on 22.04.2025 I noticed a puddle of water under the machine. I subsequently dried off the bench top, refilled the tank and… Read more
clicked it back onto the machine. On 25.04.2025 I noticed that the paper towels I placed under the machine were wet. Lifted up the machine and water came running out of the plastic casing at the base of the machine. On 01.05.2025 I returned the machine to the Good Guys at Blacktown Homebase, Prospect and conveyed to the salesperson what the issue was and requested that the machine be replaced. The salesperson suggested I walk around the store and browse for a few minutes while they entered my details into their system. When I returned some minutes later, I was told that I was about 20 days out from being able to get an immediate replacement and that the machine would have to be taken back to Delonghi for repair. This I was informed would take some 4-6 weeks. The salesperson refused to refund my money either. I was told this by both the salesperson who served me and the store manager. I just wanted a new machine to replace the one that was faulty.
I then drove from Blacktown to the Good Guys at Penrith where I purchased the machine, naively thinking that I would somehow get a better outcome. I was wrong. The Good Guys are not good.
I’m now lodging a complaint to the fair-trading Ombudsman.
22.05.2025 I have just added another message regarding the outcome below

Terrible – Whilst the machine looks good , I can’t find the pods anywhere in store Pods only available online and I need to pay delivery fee I purchased mine in November 2023 from David jones . Tried to get refund so that I could buy and alternative machine but David jones wouldn’t accommodate and writing to Delonghi was useless Haven’t used it once Avoid

Cheap but not worth it – Two worst features 1. Makes a bitter coffee. I’ve tried many brands, many grinds. All made bitter coffee. I’ve watched several instructional videos including Delonghi’s. Nothing helped! Ok if you add sugar but that’s not acceptable. 2. Requires descaling waaay too often. At around $30 a time, won’t be continuing with this machine. Show details

Avoid DeLonghi like the plague – Absolute piece of junk, wanted descaling after only 1 week, when it *only* gets filtered tank water. Only 1 descaler included (Breville and Sunbeam had 3). Worse: I drink a mug of hot coffee. It takes *at least* 90 seconds on every other machine I've owned (17 years experience with home coffee machines). This junk manual says it can only do… Read more
steam for "recommended max" 60 seconds. What! So it can only make a **cold mug of coffee, not a hot one**. I ignore the limit and steam for 90 seconds. It will cut off at 100 secs and switch back to espresso mode, and start cooling the boiler. Now it won't make steam properly after less than a month. Sputters and splashes the milk everywhere. Thanks...not. Box says steam is powerful, this is an outright lie. What absolute junk. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. Will be returing it for a refund and buying *anything else*. Forced to give it one star, otherwise would get zero. Only way to make coffee now is to use the 10+ year old sunbeam for the milk frothing, which will produce steam *forever* until the tank runs dry, unlike this piece of junk which, BY DESIGN, is limited to making a cold mug only. No wonder it doesn't come with a milk jug (unlike the other 4 machines I've had over the years which ALL came with one).

This makes a fabulous cup of coffee! – Up-front let me say that this little machine makes a seriously great cup of coffee. It's not perfect though and I do have some suggested improvements if DeLonghi wants any ideas. I purchased this machine to use at a holiday home. It is replacing an older DeLonghi machine which, frankly, I hadn't taken good care of. I will be more careful with… Read more
this one! The older machine also used E.S.E. (easy serve espresso) pods and I really like them so wanted something similar. My wife and I also drink lattes so I needed a machine with a decent frothing wand.
We ordered via Amazon at a good price and it arrived within 24 hours. I also ended-up buying some DeLonghi Signature E.S.E. pods (which I had never used previously) from Harvey Norman. I was a little doubtful about their quality but as some other reviewers note they make an excellent brew.
On the positive side this machine heats REALLY quickly. I mean, you can turn it on and it's ready to make an espresso within 60 seconds! It also seems to be really solid and well made. I certainly have no concerns about how well it is engineered. The frothing wand also delivers an excellent stream of steam for a little machine.
On the negative side, I find the steam wand movement to be very limited. If it was able to sit just a centimetre or two higher it would be better in my view. Also, although this is a solid machine I find that I need to manhandle it to get the portafilter on. It is a very tight fit and it took me a little while to figure out the best way to do this without upending the whole thing. Finally, I have found that you need to immediately remove the portafilter after pulling a shot otherwise the basket gets stuck in the group head.
In summary, I love this little machine and the quality of the coffee that it makes. The ergonomics are a little frustrating but I can live with them given the only occasional use that I will make of it.
A mostly simple machine which I can’t do without – I bought a Delonghi Arte Dedica Manuel coffee machine to replace a WELL KNOWN brand of capsule machine, which had been repaired three times in as many months. I don’t use the milk frother that much, but it’s there for anyone else to play with if they insist. I drink black coffee so it doesn’t matter to me. I actually like this little underdog.… Read more
I say that because it’s not a very expensive machine but creates an impressive black espresso. OK I agree capsule machines are efficient, cleaner and easy but the cost of coffee capsules is way more, even the cheap ones, than the cost of ground coffee or fresh beans for grinding. The coffee from the delonghi Arte is actually better tasting. A quality bag of beans is way more cost effective than a box of capsules. It doesn’t take up much space, very easy to clean, heats up pretty quickly and just does a good job without bells, whistles and expensive outlay to purchase. I do get a bit frustrated at the descaling process because if you can program the machine to actually get into that mode it is just as frustrating to get it out of that mode. If you don’t succeed you just get the flashing orange steam light continually every time you turn it on, but this doesn’t affect the normal coffee making. I am just ignoring it until next episode of descale process. Just do it every couple of months if you remember because the flashing light is the reminder! The tamp on this machine is like the real expensive machines, solid metal. There is another similar model/version that only has a plastic tamp which I find useless. I am happy with this machine.
Could be great but major problem in its manufacture – We've had a Dedica 680 for around 8 years and recently upgraded to the Arte model for the longer steam wand. The Arte performs well BUT after 18 months developed a steam problem - just not enough steam for long enough. Was still in warranty so took to Good Guys - they sent to repairer. Received an email from repairer on 12 April that all was… Read more
fixed. It took Good Guys another 11 days to get the machine back to their Chatswood store. They had not rung me or emailed but was only that I rang to check on status that was told it was available for pick up - 11 days after the repair !! No additional warranty extended even tho several parts replaced including the thermo pump - very disappointing. Will stick with DeLonghi for now but not Good Guys.

Disappointed with this machine – I had previously owned a Delonghi Icona and was very happy with that machine, but after a kitchen remodel it was too big and red. I purchased the Dedica Arte based upon my satisfaction with the Icona, plus it is a great size and has a modern look. I've struggled with this machine for ten months now. I find its functionality poor. It uses flashing… Read more
buttons for operation and if you don't press a button at the correct moment it fails to operate. Then I need to turn it off, wait, then go through the process again. At times it works well when I manage to press the button right on time. However, I can only ever make one cup of coffee at a time. The machine is very unhappy and flashes when I attempt to make a second cup straight after the first. I am now looking for another coffee machine...
No fuss good coffee – Makes good coffee and it’s easy to use. I like that it doesn’t make a lot of noise and that we can fit a mug under the spout for flat whites. Doesn’t take up a lot of benchtop space. Bought it on sale, too expensive for what it is otherwise. First unit we bought was defective and it was hard to get assistance from Delonghi. But in the end the return was easy and the new unit seems to work fine! Show details · 1
