Stay away inherent reoccurring issue. Onto my 3rd unit! Even at 2 weeks old Delonghi will only repair not replace – I'm now on my third EC905m. All work very well for about a month of daily use (though one only lasted 2 weeks) and then all died of the same issue being not enough pressure to push the water through the grind. A small fix purely so I could actually get a coffee whist waiting for replacement ( and granted not really a fix ) was to stop using the double wall cups for the coffee arm and to use the single wall cups.. Even this after a month stopped working meaning that the unit will continue to lose pressure from the day you buy it. They are obviously tested at a certain pressure rating but no long term use test is available. Being that im onto my 3rd unit with same issue I would say its a complete lemon this model and stay away.
Hi. You may need to retrain your overseas call centre. Both the initial consultant and the supervisor I was put trough to both REFUSED to replace the unit. The supervisor even went as far as saying “that is something delonghi has NEVER DONE” despite the machine being 2 weeks old and Australian consumer law demands a replacement over repair.
Great machine, compact, powerful, auto milk – Usually you find negative reviews, because really you only have something to say if there's something wrong! But I wanted to write a positive review about my recent experience. I needed to replace a pod machine that lasted us 6 years, my husband did NOT want to have to be there holding everything the whole time since he was used to pod and go, milk and go. I wanted a better coffee flavour and experience. This delivered on both and then some. I already owned a coffee grinder as we used to have a much bigger machine. I grind up two days worth into an airtight container (there are three adults using it). The measure scoop is a bit rubbish... I have a small metal one that works perfectly. While it is a bit noisy, too much for a conversation, it does a good job on the coffee pressure and pour. Then I usually use the auto setting on the milk to start, then lift it up to finish with some more foam. It initially did a better job on the foam, but it's now sufficient most of the time. We use our own milk from our own cows, which I find does not create as much foam) I do really like that I can finish my milk myself if I want and it will still turn off at the correct temp (as long as it started in auto mode!) Another thing is it's easy to empty the drip tray quickly. The thing that really makes me feel i got the right one, and I can't remember if I saw this info when researching, is that when it decides it needs a descale run through, it just let's you know without restricting it's use. I have used it for two days now with the light on. (I also think that because I often do a second shot of just water to either clean the porta filter holder or add to my cup so it's not so much milk, that maybe it thinks I need to descale more often than necessary)
Overall, I recommend this machine for its compact size, effective choice making abilities, the auto milk capabilities if you choose to use them, the ability to make many selections based on your brand of beans (temp of water, and time) and the descale alert being non restrictive.
