Wish me luck! – My previous example of this item finally packed up a few weeks ago. The side lever that enables the bread to retract refused to stay down, or only worked for a few seconds. The toaster was approaching its twelfth birthday and although it had admittedly fairly light use, I thought it had given reasonable service. I also liked its design and… Read more
cheerful red colour which fitted in with my previous kitchen's decor. Delonghi had the beige example on special, so I decided to take advantage of this offer. I mainly use it for thick, whole-grain bread. It appears to respond to adjustment and the bread doesn't get jammed. It was delivered promptly and the colour fits in with my present kitchen nicely. Although there seem to be a few quality control problems with this model, I hope it will emulate the first one.
Great toaster – I have had this toaster for years and it is used daily. Unfortunately, after a very long life, mine has died. I had absolutely no hesitation in buying another. I love the crumpet/bagel option and, although the toasting of bread can be a little uneven, compared with other toasters I've had, this is a small negative, it just means repositioning for a second go. I look forward to a long association with my new toaster.
Nice looking but terrible toast – Bought this to replace an old Sunbeam cafe series which was terribly slow but did great toast and crumpets. This was the only one I could find with the crumpet/bagel setting - and for such an expensive toaster has been a huge disappointment. It is annoyingly inconsistent - one side will be nicely brown with the other side barely warmed, then next slices will be burnt. Show details

Undecided – Toasts evenly. But every day i burn my fingers because the bread is so hard to get out the toaster. Otherwise its fine. But I wouldn't but it again tho Show details
Nice Looking, Functional Toaster – Was looking forward to trying out my new toaster. It is easy to clean as the sides are not ultra shiny, which I am pleased about. I love the look of it and the fact that it has dials that easily turn. I like that you can pull in the sides to help hold thin bread in place, and expand for thicker bread. I don't like that if you are toasting small… Read more
slices of bread, you have to tip the toaster upside down to get at it. I also wish the length was longer to cook larger pieces. Alas, 2 slice toasters all seem to have small slots. Overall I am happy with this product, although I wish the warranty was longer than 12 months considering the cost to buy. fingers crossed it doesn't break down on me.
Stylish and easy to use – Our toaster sits on our bench so it was important to me to have a toaster that looked good and worked in with our other appliances which this toaster does. The settings are easy to use and the slots are wide enough to take those slightly bulky buns. It can be tricky to clean crumbs from the top as there is a recessed rim where crumbs fall. This… Read more
is minor and probably more about me being very finicky about my toaster being crumb free! Overall, a great buy.
Negative reviews
Doesn’t Stay Down! – This toaster works fairly quickly, and toasts evenly - however it takes about 5 tries to get the toaster to stay down and start cooking! The lever seems to bounce off the bottom and spring straight back up. It would be great if they could make the slot slightly bigger as it only just fits square loaf bread. Show details
The beauty is skin deep – It's a great looking machine but this toaster simply doesn't toast. My 'toast' emerged toasted on one half of one side which means I would have to flip it 4 times. I returned it and purchased a Breville which is perfect. Show details
Totally packed it in after 3 years! – I am a single person living alone in which case toaster is definitely not over used. I use 2 slices of sourdough bread most days. It worked very well when it was working. Suddenly just stopped and won’t turn on. I have never had a toaster, even cheap ones do this before. Very disappointing. Show details

Worst toaster I have ever had – Bought Dec 2021. Worst decision. How can manufacture get toasting so wrong. Put it on no 1 it burns one side the other doesn’t even toast. Took 1st one back and got replacement. The 2nd one is exactly the same. Bought to match the DeLonghi kettle as wanted a set. Now in predicament as kettle is ok so if I return the 2nd replacement toaster, I’m… Read more
left with half a set. I bought the beige colour. Plus for the expensive price $150 odd, the silver st steel look is extremely cheap and started tarnishing immediately . Cheaply made for sure. Really let’s down the brand hopefully Delonghi reads these reviews as I’m not the only one experienced the above.
Good unit but died after 2 years – I liked this unit although it didn't cook as evenly as I would have liked. My main gripe though is that the "spring up" bit died after 2 years - with a 1 year warranty Show details
Fur coat, no knickers – Looks lovely but uneven toast from day 1. Then one day it just started tripping the meter so now it’s fancy looking landfill. Probably inbuilt redundancy as it lasted about 2 years exactly. Show details
Terrible product - first one broke in less than 1 month and replacement broke after 4 hours – I bought the same toaster 10 years ago and it worked fine. Decided to buy a nice new silver one. It broke in less than 30 days. Amazon replaced it but that one lasted 4 hours. Show details

Don't waste your money (Tried 2 in 1 week) – We had the same toaster for 5 years and it was great. After an accident, we had to replace it. So we purchased the same one, it wouldn't toast one side at all. took it back a few days later and David Jones swapped it for the newer model. Just tested with a few different slices and it burns one side while other is perfect. Talking it back in the morning for a refund. Show details
If you love burnt toast, this is the one for you! – This CTO2003 is heading for the recycle bin today after burning every piece of toast put in it for the 3 weeks we’ve owned it. This is probably the worse toaster we have ever owned. It is simply impossible to set this so it toasts adequately without either undercooking or (then) incinerating the pieces. The browning setting is indistinguishable… Read more
from random - you never know what the result will be. The crumb tray position at the back of the unit is a nuisance. I wish 0 stars was an option.
Cant even toast bread – I bought this from amazon very cheap at $21. Looks good to the eye but does not toast bread evenly. Dont pay alot for this toaster you will be disappointed. If you have a choice buy another product. I wont replace until its dead or I might give it away to charity or the needy. Show details
Disappointing toaster – We are very disappointed in this toaster. It only toasts on one side therefore takes twice as long to cook a piece of toast as bread has to be turned. This is for all types of bread, including raisin toast and crumpets. For the price paid, one would expect even toasting on both sides at the same time. This is not the case with this DeLonghi… Read more
toaster. We would not purchase a DeLonghi again. We found the DeLonghi electric kettle very efficient, but not the toaster.
Blew up – Toaster made a small explosion sound with visual sparking when I was cooking raisin toast. No longer works very disappointed because I also have the matching kettle I purchased this toaster from a deceased estate second hand but it was immaculate condition and I was told worked perfectly not anymore it's dead. Wish I had read reviews before purchasing – I, like other reviewers here which have rated this toaster minimum stars, have had exactly the same experience. I purchased this toaster (plus matching kettle) only 12 days ago. Like other reviewers, I thought I was amiss in my procedure for popping in toast to cook - how difficult can it be? But no, only one side barely cooks because the gauge… Read more
needs to be on a mere 1 - 2 because the other side - OF THE SAME PIECE OF BREAD - BURNS!!! Contacted DeLonghi who said to return it to place of purchase. When I asked if this was a common problem the question was evaded. Looking at dates of reviews with the same problem I can see it has been happening for a number of years. Where is your quality control DeLonghi? Will be taking both appliances back to store for refund.
Nice looking but has never worked properly – Until reading these other poor reviews I thought it must have been something I was doing wrong, but this very expensive toaster has been a disaster from day one. Like many others have discovered, it doesn't cook the toast properly and evenly, always seems to burn the toast (even on low settings), and the other day tripped the household electrical… Read more
safety switch (no other appliance has ever done this). I thought in this day and age a supposedly competent manufacturer such as DeLonghi would have mastered the art of designing such a simple item as a toaster, however their efforts on this occasion are a joke, and I would never in future purchase a product made by this company. We've now gone back to using our previous toaster and this expensive item sits unused on a shelf.
Loves this toaster, Choice review top 3 – I bought this for $74.00 from David Jones ( price match from the good guys). Originally $199.00. It is a little expensive for a toaster. But it looks great with a vintage look. It is easy to use and makes nice toast. Nothing to complain about. cycle.
• Good score for browning evenly.
• Good at toasting frozen bread.
• Very easy to clean the crumb tray, rated excellent.
• Very good controls.
Bad points
• Only OK at toasting a single slice of bread.
• Poor at toasting multigrain bread.
• There are significant dirt entrapment spaces.
Lada performance for a Land Rover price, followed by an early death – Top marks for appearance, it really is a very cute toaster. It looks lovely in my kitchen. However, its performance and life span absolutely do not correlate with its price point. It never cooked both sides evenly, from day one, I had to cook it halfway, take it out and flip it over and finish it off. I'm like "Dude, you have ONE job!!" … Read more
It would frequently flip the bread out all the way and onto the bench behind it. Not necessarily always a problem because it saved me burning my fingers getting slices of a squat shaped loaf out.
The level of brown was not consistent, eg. level 2 from one day to the next would be darker/lighter than the day before. The dial itself was also very touchy.
It would sporadically trip my electrical safety switch, probably 20 times all up.
Today it made a lovely bug zapper noise and went to toaster heaven.
A lesson in not buying anything De Longhi again, I can be disappointed for a quarter of the price.

Avoid - burns toast on lowest setting – This toaster looks great, but performs badly. It burns fruit toast, even on the lowest setting. Other less sugary breads don't fare as badly, but the toasting is uneven, resulting in toast that is burnt at the bottom but soft at the top. It has a number of useful functions (defrost, bagel, etc) but this does not make up for the failure to do its basic job - toast. Show details
Ok, but messy & dial very touchy! – This is a heavy toaster, it is barely off the toast dial between 1 & 2, hate to see what your toast looked like on say 5? The toast also gets flung totally out of the toaster if you only put 1 piece in, and covers you bench in crumbs from each piece it does this to. No lever to lift the toast higher if you put in small pieces of bread. Buy something else. Looks so cute & retro but not worth it. Show details
Not worth the price – Toast burns on one side only, one side is perfect and the other side burns even on the lowest setting. Called delonghi and they basically told me I would need to take it to a service centre for repair at MY charge, after paying over $100 why would I pay for a repair? I will throw it in the trash and spend my money on a product that lasts and is a little more reliable. Show details
Very poor after service – Bought what I thought was a good brand. I work away from home so don't use it too often. Used it less than 10 times over about 18 months and it stopped working whilst tripping the circuit breaker for the house in the process. Contacted Delonghi and they said they would replace it if I sent it back to them. I did and several months later I sent an… Read more
email asking about progress. So sorry I'll send it out today was the reply. 4 weeks later still no toaster. I sent them a message saying don't bother I'll buy one it's less hassle. Worrh pointing out that I have been very understanding and polite during correspondence, but when I told them to not bother I got the curt "Hello it was posted" one line response as opposed to the friendly "Hi" first name tack of before. Perhaps the Customer Service Team Lead may want to practice what she probably teaches to her staff. A sucker punch was that I explained it was out of warranty but was going to buy a cooktop, in an effort by me to get it fixed or replaced. They said they would so I bought the cooktop for my new kitchen (I'd already bought the Delonghi oven and extractor hood). So I bought it. Ah well next time I won't be so gullible.
Worst toaster ever – This is a terrible toaster - doesn't cook toast evenly - burns on one side. If you turn it down (i.e. To '1' to lessen the darkening it doesn't toast the other side at all. My last toaster was Sunbeam - lasted 18 yrs & worked till the end - highly regret not buying another sunbeam. A $20 toaster from KMart would surely work better than this. Show details
Looks better than it toasts – The toaster looks great with matching kettle but the toasting function is disappointing. The. Heat control doesn't change the level it toasts much, but the worst thing it only cooks one side of the bread- you have to pop it up, turn your bread around, and cook the other side Show details
Shocker – We bought two of these - three slices of toast per day both blew a fuse within the year, four days out of warranty, Bad. Matching kettle is so noisy can't hear the tv over it. What do we do now with two pieces of metal crap lying around. Throw them in the rubbish. I expect alot more from an Italian company. Making them in China I bet.
Worked great for about a year then blew a fuse! Do not buy! – I replaced a $8 toaster from Big W with this DeLonghi toaster last year. The Big W toaster worked great and was still fine after over a years use. I expected the de Longhi to last at least 2-5 years as it was 15 times the price and supposedly a quality product. It didn't even occur to me to keep a receipt as the warranty is only for a year and… Read more
surely I wouldn't need it. Well now I know why they only warranty their toasters for a year - they are obviously designed to blow up after that time! I'm not even sure if I've had it for a year but it blew a fuse in my house today so I can't risk using it again. I bought it at Myer which has them on sale today for $126! It would be more economical to buy ten toasters from Kmart or Big W that would last you at least 12 years than this over priced rubbish. I was actually very happy with its toasting ability until this happened and would have happily recommended it. Very disappointed de Longhi and I notice they don't care enough to address any of the concerned customers on here.
Poor operation. Not worth the money – Spent more than I normally would thinking I would get a quality item. How wrong I was. There are 6 settings for degrees of darkness (degree of toasting). Setting 1 is actually the lowest it goes and obviously does not cook the toast. Anything above 2 is burnt. Why not have an adjustment across the range so you can have some choice in how much you… Read more
want your toast cooked. Its either just toasted or burnt. Gave it a second star because it looks good.
WOW – I finally found a toaster that toasts both sides of the bread the same its great, hopefully it keeps toasting the same in years to come and the copper color looks great.I couldnt find a product review for the Distinta range yet so I thought I would leave my comments on this page for customers to use as reference guide Show reply
First expensive toaster - worth the money – I've always thought a toaster's a toaster. Why would anyone spend more than $20-30 on something that's gonna do the same thing as the cheap version. I was wrong! I don't understand how, but this cooks the perfect toast. Don't understand the bad reviews. I guess you're more likely to write a review when a product 'goes wrong', but I've just been… Read more
so impressed with this toaster, I had to sign up to Product Review to brag.
I'm not a big toast eater either, but my mother got given one of these a few months ago and I'd find myself going to visit just so I could make myself a piece of toast with her toaster. Today I finally got my own!
Anyway, highly recommended. I'll update if I have any problems
Delongi Failed toaster – This two slice toaster has been very disappointing. We received it as a Christmas gift replacing our 20 yo four slice Breville since the girls have left home. We didnt use it often, and it was in pristine condition until it went pop. Couldnt see anything wrong with it, so checked with Delongi. I sent them pictures showing its condition, but they… Read more
still wanted receipts or stat declarations etc.... to look into further. Looking at reviews, this toaster doesnt get a good wraps even though it's pretty. They were just putting barriers and obviously dont really standby their product.
I had since gone out and bought a new toaster at DJ's a few weeks earlier-a SMEG. It looks and seems to work well. A little more expensive. I looked on product review, but couldnt find any mention of it, so hope it for-fills our expectations more than the Delongi did.......
Very Uneven Results, on Both Slots, Paid the big price and got a Rubbish Toaster no matter what type of bread type Show details
