Was OK, but could be better – This was our 1st proper steam iron & it did a reasonable job while it lasted. It was heavy, bulky & noisy but made plenty of steam. It ironed OK but just didn't get hot enough to do a proper job. Without steam, it was useless which became a major problem when it stopped making steam after 3 years! Most of our appliances cop a fair flogging… Read more
with use but we only do a bit of occasional ironing so we were really surprised when it failed.
I can't remember what we paid for it, but I think it was close to $400. I'd expect better performance & a longer life from a $400 iron.
Too Expensive for short term item! – This item great to iron with but after just 12 months I began to experience problems with no steam. Rang Delongi and was told I would have to pay for any repairs as iron just out of warranty period. Basically given a repairers phone number & paid the $110 repair cost. Again it was great but then the iron began to leak - off to repairs and $159… Read more
in repair cost. After another 15 months of second repair iron again doesn't steam and I am looking at $260 bill. Very upset as for an item costing $350 I expected the iron to last longer and better customer service from Delongi. Definitely will never buy another item from Delongi.
Expensive disposable item – As the reviews above state I experienced the same problems with the switch and the noise. This morning it worked for about 10 minutes and now it will not steam at all and the temperature is low. Very disappointed because it was an expensive product. I would not buy this brand again.
Bad – I was excited when I bought this product after using it at work. It ironed incredibly well. But for those that don't mind ironing in front of the t.v. don't use this product. It is very noisy when the steamer is creating steam and when you iron with constant steam you won't hear the t.v. It is also quite bulky so you will need a large cupboard to… Read more
store it when it isn't being used.
After about 6 months of use, I started hearing a thump across my stereo loudspeakers when the steam button was engaged. I believed this to be a fault in the speakers but it turns out that the iron has a two piece steamer with a gasket and my iron was leaking internally and creating a small electrical short. This was only discovered after 18 months when the iron started to trip the earth leakage switch. After taking it to a repairer I was informed that it had been leaking internally and there was corrosion in the boiler necessitating replacement to the value of $120. I didn't proceed with the repair. It does iron well. Noisy. Heavy. Large. Didn't last long.
More trouble than it was worth – I purchased my first version of this iron in 2007 and immediately had problems with the steam switch. It couldn't be turned off so I had to Iron with continuous steam, which used up the water in the tank very quickly. I persevered for a long time and eventually had the Iron replaced through Myer's extended warranty. The new iron lasted only a… Read more
few months also before I started having problems with the steam again. This time I would hear a pumping sound after flicking the steam switch, but the steam never came. With 3 kids under the age of 3 it took me months to get out to Mosman to have it repaired, but in the end it was done and still under manufacturer's warranty. It has been great for about 12 months, but of course now that there is no more warranty on it I am having problems again. It cuts the power and now the power switch on the iron doesn't work either - it's jammed! Very disappointed with this iron. It's a good iron when it's actually working; not too heavy; good warranty service Didn't last long enough for the amount of money paid; problems with steam in both irons.
Excellent – My wife loves her DeLonghi steam iron. She's had it for over 2 years & gives it a very good work-out. We got it with the DeLonghi ironing board for under $300 & think it has been great value. It's easy to use & does as good a job as other far more expensive units. The ironing board that came with it is definitely the best ironing board she's ever… Read more · 1
used. We recently had to replace the ironing board cover at a cost of about $32, but the new cover is a new design that is more heat resistant & will hopefully last even longer than the original.
I've even used it myself a few times with success, so if a bloke can use it & get good results, it must be OK ! Easy to use. Does a great job.
